The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 128 Book 2 Chapter 60

Zillon was right to not believe her, she kept messing with things and with people, well not really people, but him.

Since they started, Celeste has been trying her best to convince him that she could train too and when he asked why, she couldn’t give him a suitable answer.

She knew she couldn’t train, she was pregnant and borderline tormented, but through the two days that have passed, she had been his drive. She brought him water most of the times and was there to run her soft hands through his fur whenever he finished a practical training session.

She along with some other pack women had filled an igloo with water for the rest of the pack and they cooked too. It had been helpful, but now that this was the very last day of such intense training, everybody was on the edge.

The war was some time tonight and Zillon didn’t think they were well prepared yet…

People were having mental breakdowns especially the omegas, he was having a breakdown too, but if it ever became obvious, the whole pack would fall in despair, including Celeste…

He lied about having faith in himself, he knew they’d lose, which was why he made sure that every single time he looked towards the sidelines, his eyes would grace Celeste’s supportive form…

That’s why he tried to fix things with Xavier too, because he knew he wouldn’t get another chance to do it. It didn’t work out though, Xavier left with his two stable pack members and the one that had been in the hospital as well.

He didn’t say goodbye, not even to Celeste and Zillon really didn’t feel good about it. She was probably beating up herself, thinking that the bad b***d between them was all because of her, but she was wrong…

If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have known how Xavier truly felt towards him, he wouldn’t have known that his own brother had the heart to abandon him when he would’ve never done the same.

But what is done has already been done. He left two days ago and Zillon knew he would never be able to see him again, never be able to mend their sunken relationship. It was okay though, at least he tried.

The women had already started packing food into the safe house and the pups were ready to depart. Zillon wasn’t sure when it would start, so he’d lead them along with the helpless women into the safe house as soon as the clock stroke six. It was alright if he died, if the warriors died, but he at least wanted the bloodline of his pack to live on.

The pups were the future, the women were the ones that would reproduce, they needed to survive and Celeste’s babies needed to live too, if anything, they would be his little alphas and even if they weren’t alphas he’d still be proud if they survived this…

He’d smile from his grave.

Looking towards Celeste, he watched as she corresponded with a pack member while holding a clear white coloured water bottle in hand.

She was smiling so brightly even though she had just woken up. He had to force her to sleep every night and she wouldn’t close her eyes if he wasn’t there, he’d have to stay until she fell asleep before returning back to training and nothing was more adorable…

His Celeste…

The love of his life…

Zillon scuffed to himself, a heavy weight resting atop of his heart. She wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight because he wasn’t going to be there.

Poor thing, she’d probably worry so much that she’d fall sick.

Scraping his paws against the tough dirt beneath them, he sighed. It was against his pride, but he’d confront the royals before the war began, he had to try and stop the war before it started.

What if it was just a misunderstanding?

One that he could clear up?

That would be marvelous and it’d leave him with his life. He’d get to watch his pups grow and he’d be able to eventually sort things out with Xavier.

With that thought, he sprinted off into the open, skidding to a stop when a scent so familiar greeted his nostrils. He could scent the rogue that resided in it, he could scent —as surprising as it may sound— Xavier.

Looking towards the right section of the training grounds, he spotted him, his brother being held back by his pack members. They wouldn’t harm him despite the fact that he was a rogue, he might’ve ran away, but he was still family no matter what.

Zillon changed back into his human form, ignoring his nakedness as he ran over to where he was. He stopped his men, giving them the green card to give him space.

“What do you want, Xavier?”

“I’m not doing this for you, I’m not doing this for the whole pack either…I only care about one person’s life and that’s all I’ll try to protect.”

“What are you saying?”

“In short, I’m saying that I’m joining the war, me and all the warriors in my pack.”

He crouched down before Zillon, his bones cracking as be transformed into his wolf with furr as black as night. Zillon stepped back, watching as he howled out, and immediately after the paws of unscented wolves became impossibly loud to Zillon ears. He turned to the north side of his packlands, watching in a blur as rogue wolves approached from afar…

He shouldn’t be happy, but he undoubtedly was…
