The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 24
Celeste took up her bags off the floor and waved at the doctor. “Thanks for saving my life and also for the early discharge.”
“You’re soon to be Luna, you don’t have to thank me, I’m just doing my job as the pack doctor.”
Luna? Celeste wanted to laugh at herself but smiled at him instead. The bondage around her arm proved that she wasn’t Luna material, but maybe this doctor’s conviction came from the solidity of words. If so then…
“I’m not a future Luna, my position has yet to be confirmed. I’m an omega, the bottom of the hierarchy, you don’t have to show me respect…my rank is lower than yours.”
With that, she gripped her bag straps tighter and walked pass him. She wasn’t going to be the Luna of the pack, she wouldn’t entice the idea or give the pack members hope. They didn’t deserve to be lied to, to be played like Zillon played her.
What they deserved was a strong Luna who could guide them on a path to victory and that person could only be Celia.
She had come to terms with the facts while holding the razor in her hand that unfruitful day. Right then she understood why she wasn’t needed and perhaps that’s where her courage had flared from.
Even now she understood, Zillon made it easy to. He hadn’t visited her after the last time he brought her food. He was kind enough to drop them off, but he wouldn’t step foot through her door.
That wasn’t what hurt though, it was the fact that he knew today was her discharge day, the doctor had given him the exact time and even though it was more than a hour pass it, Zillon hadn’t shown up yet.
Celeste pitied herself, even the doctor had started to give her sympathetic looks, but she didn’t want his pity, not when she could make it all by herself.
She didn’t have to wait on Zillon, she could walk and she knew exactly where she lived.
Pushing the hospital door open, she walked down the hall, searching for the familiar exit. She visited this place a lot while growing up. Every time she got hurt, she had to come here to get the wound patched up and it wasn’t any different now.
Sighing, she took a left turn, spotting the door at the edge of the hall. She almost tripped over her feet at her quick attempt to reach it, then realized that a hospital was nothing to run from. Sure she hated it here, but she hated it at home even more.
At least here, the doctors and nurse attended to her with care, but at home nobody would ever come to her aid. But as she now came to understand, the world was cruel to its victims until the very end.
Pushing the door open, she stepped off into the light of the sun, basking in the cool air that almost instantly enveloped her skin. She walked down the rocky path, passing the parked cars and the little people that were scattered on the outside.
See, she was okay…she didn’t need Zillon, she didn’t need anyone. Gripping her bag tighter, she continued to walk, her hair blowing profusely behind her back and her bare feet light on the pavement.
Zillon had brought her clothes, but it seems he had forgotten her slippers. Nevertheless, she was fine, she was o—
A car stopped by her feet and frightened, Celeste staggered back, eyes zooming in on the tilted windows that were slowly being rolled down to reveal Zillon. He was seated around the driver’s seat, face filled with irritation. “What the f*ck are you doing out here by yourself?”
“I…you…well I thought you weren’t coming.”
“Couldn’t you have waited? Do you think I’m heartless enough to leave a sick person at the hospital?”
“I did wait, I waited for an hour and a half before deciding that I could do things by myself.”
“By yourself? Get in the f*cking car Celeste, you’re sick.”
“I’m not sick anymore. I don’t…I don’t need your help.”
Zillon sighed, shaking his head in annoyance. “I come here late after sitting home and packing both our clothes and this is the reward I get? Get in the car Celeste, you’re not even wearing shoes.”
Celeste looked down at her bare feet, shaking her head. “I don’t want to. It couldn’t have taken you so long to pack clothes. Just admit it, I’m a burden that you don’t want to carry, why not just reject me? Knowing you don’t want me is more reassuring than hoping that you would.”
“Get in the car, I bet you can barely even stand and yet still you’re here talking about a rejection.”
“I’m honestly okay, I can stand, I can walk and I know I can run.”
“And what? Because you feel strong you think you can withstand a rejection? If that’s the case, then let me tell you this…” Zillon pushed the car door on his side open, stepping through it. “You’re weak, an omega that can’t even heal faster than humans. Drop the facade about being okay, I know you’re probably dizzy right now, on the brink of collapsing. Stop fooling yourself Celeste, you can’t withstand pain, so why think you can withstand a rejection?”
By the time he was finished speaking, he was standing directly in front of Celeste, her body swaying along with the wind as tears brimmed her eyes. “I-I…I’m not.”
“Right…even now I can see the weakness in your eyes, the pain of not just because you’re not strong enough, but because you still remain unwanted.”
He grabbed her hand, hauling her over to car. “Be glad that I even came, I didn’t have to.”
With that, he opened the door and shoved her right in, only regretting his words after realising that he said them.
A/N// Zillon you…you bastard! How could you? Oh gosh, my poor Celeste. She must be in a lot of pain after hearing the bastard say tha
