The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 25
Celeste cried silently as he drove, back turned to him and face shielded away by her hands. She hated him, she hated him so much. If so, why was it that his words still hurt her then?
Why was it that back at the hospital she couldn’t stop wishing he’d come?
And why was it that when she finally saw his face, relief had washed her thoroughly?
She still loved him, didn’t she?
No matter how much she tried to deny it or how much she walked around it, the truth wouldn’t hold back when it slapped her like her a brick in the face. She loved him and she wouldn’t stop.
She might want to, but the matebond would never truly let her. That’s why she wanted to get rid of it, that’s why she kept praying on a rejection, coaxing him to either reject her or accept hers.
But it seems getting him to do either wasn’t going to be a walk in the park, still, she’d continue to try until rejecting her was his only choice.
Using her blouse, she wiped away the tears that tainted her face and sat upright in the car. She shouldn’t cry because of him, not anymore.
He’d made her cry enough back at the house, it was time for her to sto—
“Celeste…”
Celeste almost jumped in her seat at the sound of his voice. It was so different now, gentle and not rough, low and not harsh, but still it managed to frighten her. “Are you alright?”
Celeste nodded but reluctantly, her voice shaking pitifully as she asked the only thing that ran across her mind. “Where…where are we going?”
“Are you done crying now?”
She nodded again.
“Then we’re going to dad’s place. I told you before, mom wants to meet you. I wasn’t sure what clothes to pack for you, so I packed almost everything. I wasn’t even sure what panty, or bra you liked…so I packed all of those as well. I brought your slippers too, their on the back seat, put them on.”
“I’m fine…” Celeste murmured out, finally turning to stare at him. “But if we’re going to your mom’s house, why are we in a car? It’s just in the centre of the packlands.”
“And isn’t that far for a sick person to walk? Can you even transform into your wolf? I could’ve carried you on my back, but I doubt you’d want that, so I went to dad’s place first and borrowed his car.” He took a right, hands tight around the steering wheel as he turned it. “That’s why I took so long to come to the hospital. The car is really convenient too, we don’t have to carry our stuff all the way, they’re in the trunk.”
“Ohhh…” Celeste wasn’t sure why, but the fact that he revealed what had made him late calmed her even though it shouldn’t have.
“I’m sorry for getting angry at you back outside the hospital. I shouldn’t have said that, you’re already hurt and yet I seem to have made it worst.”
Celeste didn’t answer him, she wasn’t sure what to say, or rather she had nothing to say. This was the first he had ever apologized after making her cry, but even so, she wouldn’t let it sway her.
He kept acting nice, kept acting like he cared, but she knew that he was the same Zillon as before and he’d no doubt remain the same until he died.
Zillon parked the car in front of his parent’s house and looked over at Celeste. “Put on your slippers before you go outside.” He reached for them on the back seat and offered them to her. “Here, take them.”
Celeste hesitantly took them, throwing them by her feet and putting them on.
“You can go on inside now, I’ll take in the bags.”
He opened up his door and only seconds after, Celeste opened up hers too. “I’ll carry mine.”
“Yours are the heaviest, I’ll carry them. Go inside.”
Celeste shook her head, glaring at his back. “They’re mine, I’ll carry them.”
“No, and before you persist, no means f*cking no.”
He walked around the car to the trunk and Celeste followed him, her arms hugging around her body as Zillon packed the bags out, placing them on the floor.
She wasn’t sure how to feel about this; the fact that she was going to meet his parents. She had a feeling that they’d hate her, especially his father. She was weak, an omega, alpha’s hated the weak and not because she was his son’s mate would he make her an exception.
His mother though, she was probably nice… After all, two days ago, she had sent Celeste a get well card, but what if she was like Celia; two faced and cruel?
Or what if she was like Celeste’s mother; fake and manipulative?
Celeste would surely suffer throughout all the days she’d spend here if they were as she thought, but she could bet it wouldn’t be that bad, she had suffered through her past as well…she was use to it.
Straightening up, she followed Zillon as soon as he closed the trunk and started walking towards the house with her little suitcase hauling behind him and a count of four bags bundled in his other hand. He stepped up to the front door, letting go of her suitcase to knock.
They stood there and waited then and even though it didn’t take long for footsteps to greet her ears from the inside, it felt like forever for Celeste.
She was nervous, more so when the door was pulled open revealing the alpha and Luna of her pack.
A/N// Umm, so she’s gonna meet the parents, they’re here at the house. Celeste is so defiant about not being swayed by Zillon, but how long do you think she’ll be able to resist him?
