The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 67

Celeste watched Zillon as he drove them back. He hadn’t spoken to her since he had finished following Xavier’s scent which had disappeared in the middle of the chase.

His jaws were clenched and she was conscious of the fact that he was angry. She wasn’t sure who he was angry at but it seemed it was her.

And she didn’t like that…she hadn’t really done anything wrong and moreover she wasn’t the one who told Xavier to touch her.

Glancing over at him, Celeste sighed. “Are you angry at me?”

Zillon gripped the steering wheel tighter. “No…”

“Then why—but you are angry, I-I can feel it. I didn’t do anything, he showed up out of nowhere, I didn’t know h—”

The car came to a sudden stop and in order stay put, Celeste had to press against it. She looked over at Zillon who was glaring forward, his fists lightly banging against the staring wheel. “I’m not angry, are you deaf?”

Celeste shook her head. “No…I just—”

“Is he that mysterious wolf you talked about?”

“Yes…”

“And his name is?”

“X-Xavier…”

“For f*cks sake Celeste, why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I didn’t…I didn’t—”

Zillon turned to face her, the Viscous look in his eyes bringing tears to her eyes. “What? You didn’t tell me because you liked him? Probably thought he’d treat you better than me?”

Celeste shook her head, wiping her face when tears glided down her cheeks. “No…it really j-just never came to mind. I’d have told you…I-please…”

Zillon chuckled in a humourless manner, his aura not at all changing. “An angel I said? It seems I had lied to myself because you’re the devil in disguise.”

“W-what I—”

“I really don’t want to hear your pitiful excuses or your pitiful subbing, right now I need peace and quiet…not torment from a two-timer.”

Celeste’s heart went rigid in her chest… pitiful excuses…peace and quiet…a two-timer?

More tears glided down her cheeks as he restarted the car, continuing into the packlands, they were almost home but Celeste wasn’t sure she wanted to go in.

They got through this already, she told him that she loved him, she told him she’d never leave him and in return he called her a cheater when she was far from it…

She really hated him sometimes or rather she hated it whenever he got angry…somehow it always ended with her crying.

In a matter of minutes, the car was parked outside the house, but even as Zillon stepped out of the car, Celeste stayed put. She didn’t even open the door, or look over at him as he glared at her through the window. “Aren’t you coming?”

She shook her head. “I think I’ll be going home… I’m conscious of the fact that you wouldn’t want to share your home with a two-timer…don’t worry, I’ll stop tormenting you.”

“Celeste I—”

“I don’t want hear your pitiful excuses, I deserve to have my peace and quiet too.” She said, deliberately using his lines on him.

Zillon ran his hand through his hair, kicking the stones as he went. “You can have your peace and quiet, but you’re not going anywhere…”

Celeste watched as he took a seat on one of the steps of his veranda, looking out into space.

He probably didn’t mean what he said, he told her that he’d try to keep his anger under control, but it seems instead of doing so, he had set it free. She had never cheated on him, Xavier only touched her by chance, and instead of asking, he assumed.

Celeste sighed, leaning back against the seat. The ceremony was just a couple hours away and just look at what happened…how unfortunate…

She felt for the bracelet in her pocket, pulling it out to look at it…she hoped everything would turn out right…she hoped he would apologize because she wouldn’t, not this time, he was at fault, not her…

Her eyes fluttered closed and sleep took her…

When Celeste woke up, she wasn’t in the car, she was in Zillon’s room…he wasn’t here, his scent would’ve been more prominent, but as she looked around, she found a note on the bedside table. She stretched for it, opening up the folded paper and reading what was written on it.

‘I’m sorry, I really am. I didn’t mean to call you a two-timer, I know that you aren’t, I know you’d never do such a thing, but my anger lead me to say it. I hope the ceremony’s still on because I’m waiting for you there…

Ps. I already got the bracelet you bought, it fell from your hand while I was lifting you out of the car…it’s nice…it fits perfectly…’

Celeste smiled down at the note before refolding it and placing it back on the bedside table. She then hurriedly shuffled out of bed, taking off her current clothes and struggling into the dress she had tried earlier.

She didn’t touch her hair, the messy bun she had worn to the human world before was what she left the house with…

The moment she stepped through the front door, Liam’s scent captivated her nose and his hand captivated hers. “And the kitten has finally awaken from her slumber…”

Celeste looked over at him, smiling cheekily. “Hi Liam…”

“Your beast had appointed me to take you to the ceremony…I don’t know what the f*ck is going on in his head, but he’s acting as though you’ve never walked in darkness before.”

“I have.” Celeste clarified.

“I know, which means I don’t have to carry you, right?”

Celeste nodded. “You can go, I can make it there myself…”

“Alright,” Liam let her loose and stepped down the veranda with a chuckle. “He treats you like a baby, but you’re anything but, come on…i’ll take you just in case.”
