The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 68

In no time, they were standing in front of the dimmed lights that a crowd was already gathering under. Liam took her to where Fredd was, but Zillon wasn’t there.

Celeste looked at Fredd curiously. “Where’s Zillon?”

“He’s in the changing room or rather tent not too far from here, just head straight, you’ll definitely replace him there.”

Celeste nodded as she walked off into the direction he sent her, excitement and anticipation filling her chest. She was still a little angry at Zillon, but she was the one who had promised to endure his mood swings. He got angry at her for something that was out of her control, but she understood why…

If she saw Celia touching him, she’d probably be angry and she’d call him a cheater too, so she’d let it go, she’d forgive him, she’d b—

“You won’t ever leave me again, will you?”

Celeste’s eyes drifted into the direction the sound came from, no doubt recognizing that the voice belonged to Celia.

In the darkness of the night, she could see two people leant against the tree that stood tall beside the tent; one was Celia, she was sure of it and the other was…was Zillon…

His arms locked her against the tree and he was merely inches away from her. Celeste took a step back, all the excitement, the anticipation she felt was now being deflated by fear.

“I won’t, I told you already…I love you and I always will…nobody can take me away from you, not even her…”

“But you and her a…what about tonight?”

“The ceremony has already started, but I can cancel it if you want, I’d do anything for you, Kitten…”

Celeste’s lips wobbled, her heart beating like a drum in her chest…would he really do that to her?

Cancel the ceremony, she had been anticipating for so long…

He told her she’d get to mark him, he told her he loved her and yet he was here telling Celia that he loved her too.

“Then do…I…I…”

“It’s alright, Kitten. It’s probably hard to trust me after all I’ve done to you, but it’s alright.”

He leaned in, kissing her against the forehead. “I’ll go tell them to cancel the ceremony for now, wait here, I’ll be back…”

He opted to walk away, but Celia stopped him. “I’m sorry too.” She tipped up on her toes, her lips catching his and somehow even while kissing him, her eyes weren’t closed, they were instead side glancing Celeste, mocking her, sizing her up…

Without even hearing it, Celeste knew what she was thinking…

After all she had stolen Zillon away from her again, she had won a battle that Celeste thought she had stopped fighting…

Taking another step back, Celeste wiped the tears that flooded down her cheeks as she walked away from the scene.

The pack would think of her a fool now…his mother, his father and even her very own parents would make a mockery out of her…

If not with Zillon, where would she stay?

And how would she feel…?

The pack wouldn’t treat her like family and neither would her parents or her sister, she’d end up being unwanted again, she’d be unloved, uncared for, she’d be alone…

Pushing pass the crowd of people that stood under the dim lights of a ceremony that would never begin, she started down a path with no apparent destination.

She hated her life…

She hated Zillon…

And she hated the moon goddess that only created her to suffer…

She hated her parents too, she hate—

Somebody grabbed Celeste’s hand and she turned around only to be faced by Fredd and Liam.

“Where are you going ‘Kitten’?”

Celeste pulled her hand away from Liam, wiping her teary eyes again. “D… Don’t call me that…leave me alone.”

The playful look that had been on Liam’s face disappeared immediately. “Celeste…? You’re crying…why are you crying? Did something happen? Did Z—”

“Leave me alone…”

She continued on her way, listening as Fredd spoke to Liam behind her.

“Let’s leave her alone, she won’t talk to us, let’s get Zillon to talk to her instead.”

Their retreating steps didn’t go unheard to her ears, they were going to call Zillon, but would he care that she crying, that she was hurt?

He had broken his promise, made her into a fool, she hated him for that and she hated her life as well.

If he knew he didn’t want her, why didn’t he let her die that time?

Why did he have to tell lies about choosing her, about loving her, about wanting her?

Why did he have to…?

Celeste sobbed, feeling as tear after tear ran down her cheeks…

She was back to being unwanted now?

By her pack…

By her family…

By her twin sister…

And once again by her mate…?

Nobody wanted her now…nobody except…

‘If there’s ever a time when you feel unwanted again, just remember that Xavier wants you… If he ever makes you cry again, cross the pack borders, I’ll be there, waiting for you…’

Celeste wasn’t sure why Xavier’s words popped up in her head, but perhaps having somebody wanting you was much better than staying where you’re totally unwanted…

Instead of staying here and being ridiculed over and over again, she’d take a chance…

She wouldn’t try taking her life because she was unwanted again, she had to be stronger, she had to think wiser…she’d cross those borders, she’d walk away from her life and walk right into another…

She was tired of the pain, she was tired of all the tears and heart aches…she was tired of this life, tired of trying and failing…she was drained, so tired that she felt dead…

But if there was somewhere else she could stay and another life that she could live, why not just live it?

Who knows?

Perhaps she’d be happier…

Perhaps everything would be better…

Celeste continued on her path until the line that marked the borders came into her vision. She was reluctant at first, but in a minute or so, she crossed it, not looking back as she stepped like a damsel in distress into lands that she didn’t know.

Her ears were on high alert, her steps slow and cautious and her heart was palpitating so fast against her chest. She felt like she was doing the wrong thing, but then again, what was the right thing?

To stay and let Zillon break her heart again and again?

Well then, sh—

“I thought you’d never come…I was just about to leave, but the heaven’s told me to wait a minute longer…”

Celeste jumped, her eyes darting over to the tree in which Xavier was leant against. “Your scent…I…I can’t scen-“

“It’s hidden…” He eased off of the tree, stepping over to her. “You look so sad, so scared…what did he do this time?”

Celeste looked away, her eyes touching the ground under her feet. Would he mock her too? “He…he chose her…he-he cheated again…”

“Then are you ready now, to become a rogue and to become mine?”

His voice sounded so pure, his tone lacked judgement, lacked pity…

He offered her a hand. “I won’t force you, but I can assure you that wherever we go you’ll be happy and accepted. There are a lot of people who has struggled like you there, come, you’ll be rogue, but at least you’ll replace bliss.”

Slowly Celeste reached for his hand, hesitantly taking it. “I…I’m ready.”
