The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 109 I'll Be the Child's Father

"Hey, Abigail! Spill it, who's the seductive woman?" Sophia was fuming at Abigail's words.

She was about to grab Abigail and demand an explanation, but Abigail bolted so fast she vanished in seconds.

Sophia was so mad she nearly twisted her ankle and fell, thanks to her high heels. She muttered a curse under her breath and looked up to see Michael glaring at her with a dark expression. That look, like he wanted to eat her alive. At that moment, Sophia realized she might've gone too far earlier. She blinked guiltily and put on her best pitiful face. She figured if she played dumb like before, Michael wouldn't blame her.

But this time, Michael's face stayed unusually grim. "Why do you have to make things hard for Emily? She's your biological sister, after all."

Hearing this from Michael, Sophia was shocked. In the past, Michael hated any association with Emily, seeing her as bad news. How had things changed now?

Unable to react immediately, Sophia took the chance to play the victim again with Michael. "Michael, I know she's my sister. I also know how her mom seduced my dad and secretly had this illegitimate child. I remember it all clearly!" "If it weren't for her and her mom, my mom and I wouldn't have suffered so much! Mom wouldn't have been mistaken for a mistress, and I wouldn't have been dragged into this mess for so long! Michael, what did I do to deserve this? I'm the rightful daughter of the Brown family!" Sophia said, tears streaming down her face.

Sophia's acting skills were top-notch. In no time, she had Michael feeling sorry for her, and he had no choice but to hold her in his arms to comfort her.

Meanwhile, Emily sat in the passenger seat, coldly staring out the window, replaying everything that had happened at the Japanese restaurant.

Daniel, who was driving, and Abigail in the back seat kept exchanging glances in the rearview mirror.

"Emily, are you okay?" Abigail finally broke the silence.

"I'm fine," Emily responded curtly.

But anyone with eyes could see she was deeply angered by Sophia. Daniel initially wanted to stand up for Emily but realized she didn't care about Sophia's actions. She disliked pointless competitions and was tired of Michael's cold attitude. Daniel began to reflect on himself. Maybe from the start, he should have protected Emily and left. There was no need to argue with such despicable people, and then there wouldn't have been so many endless confrontations. "Emily, I'm sorry." After thinking for a while, Daniel decided to apologize to Emily.

Hearing this, Emily turned her head.

To be honest, she never intended to blame Daniel for anything. This whole mess started with her and Michael.

They shouldn't have been together, let alone gotten married. They both had better choices, so why keep dragging each other down?

The more she thought about it, the more Emily felt she and Michael should get a divorce, and the sooner, the better. They shouldn't let so many people be dragged into this mess and suffer because of their situation. "Daniel, what are you talking about? This isn't your fault," Emily said.

"Emily, I shouldn't have taken Sophia's bait, but she was clearly trying to embarrass you. I..." Daniel said.

Emily got where Daniel was coming from. She had the spare money to participate in the competition just now, but even if she didn't, she wouldn't bother arguing with someone like Sophia.

After all, they were never family-not before, not now, and definitely not in the future. And the two men caught in the middle, her husband Michael and her father Hayden, would always back Sophia no matter what. Emily was exhausted, too tired to fight back.

Seeing her face go pale again, like she was remembering something awful, Abigail quickly tried to lighten the mood.

"Come on, you two are being way too polite. Why dwell on this crap? Let's go eat. How about Mexican food? Emily, you can't let the baby go hungry!"

Mentioning the baby snapped Emily back to reality. She quickly held back her tears, forced a bitter smile, and gently touched her belly.

Yeah, she still had the baby. She needed to take care of herself and not let someone like Sophia get to her. Why harm her own health over it?

"Okay, let's have Mexican food," Emily said.

"I know a great spot. I'll take you there," Daniel said, turning the steering wheel and quickly putting on a smile. He cracked a few jokes to try to lift the mood in the car.

"Dr. Wilson, you sure know a lot of good places to eat! If you live near Emily, you gotta take care of her daily needs! Emily's in for a treat!" Abigail chimed in, hoping Daniel would help look after Emily.

As an observer, Michael's cold attitude puzzled her, but Daniel's feelings for Emily were pretty obvious.

Daniel responded occasionally, but Emily clearly wasn't into the conversation or Daniel.

She had long forgotten about the new rented house. She was even thinking of packing some fish soup that Mason loved and taking it back to the old mansion after dinner.

The Mexican restaurant was quite popular. The place Daniel recommended looked great in every way. As soon as they got out of the car, Abigail rushed in to get a number and wait in line.

Daniel stayed behind to take care of Emily. After all, she had been upset earlier, and her pregnancy wasn't stable, so she needed someone by her side.

"Let me help you, Emily," Daniel said.

"Daniel, you're too kind. It's only been a few months, I'm not that delicate." Emily declined Daniel's offer, taking a hair tie from her bag and quickly tying up her hair.

She stood in front of the Mexican restaurant, smiling as she watched Abigail talk to the staff.

Daniel gazed at her profile, his heart racing. It had been a long time since he had seen such a beautiful woman.

In his eyes, Emily was different from other girls. She was reserved but strong, gentle but decisive. How could Michael be so blind?

"Emily," Daniel finally mustered the courage to speak.

"What?" Emily turned her head.

Daniel swallowed nervously and said, "You... I mean, I... what do you think about me being the baby's father?"
