The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 133 Shareholder Dispute
On her way to Smith Corporation, Emily couldn't stop the tears from falling.
She tried so hard to keep it together, but that slap was just too much to handle.
Just because she married Michael, did she have to put up with all this crap? And it wasn't like she didn't hear Evelyn's words-Michael had broken up with Sophia. But that was probably just for now. Michael was a businessman; he always had to look out for his own interests. Once this storm blew over, he'd probably get back with Sophia, and Emily was just a pawn in his game. But Emily couldn't let Smith Corporation fall into a trap. She believed everything she did was for Mason. For Mason, she was willing to endure all of this.
Thinking about it made her nose tingle, and she bit her lip, trying hard to keep the tears from falling.
Emily never saw it coming. The day before, when she went to Smith Corporation to replace Michael, there were just a bunch of luxury cars and some busy employees at the entrance. But today, there was a crowd of people at the gate. They looked like fans waiting to see their idol, holding banners, posters, gifts, and letters, shouting non-stop.
"Jessica Foster, Jessica, we love you!"
"Jessica, ah, Jessica!"
Emily paid the fare and got out of the car, trying to slip past the crowd and enter through the side door.
But just as she was about to reach the door, the fans, like they were possessed, rushed to the entrance.
Turned out, Jessica had shown up.
Emily's path was blocked, so she turned her head slightly to take a look.
Jessica was wearing sunglasses, a black leather jacket, and a long black skirt.
With her tall figure, the outfit looked super striking. Her red-brown wavy hair was slightly covered by a black baseball cap, but it still showcased her graceful demeanor. As soon as she came out, she greeted the fans with a cheerful face.
The fans went wild, rushing forward like they wanted to swallow her alive.
The fan effect was crazy. But why was Jessica at the entrance of Smith Corporation? Could it be just a coincidence?
Emily thought about it. She didn't remember Michael or Mason mentioning any collaboration between Smith Corporation and a female celebrity.
Thinking about it, Emily entered the elevator. She was about to press the top floor button when Jessica and her entourage rushed in.
Jessica's assistant pressed the button for the 32nd floor, and since Emily hadn't had a chance to press her button, she was pushed to the back.
So she turned her head and asked expressionlessly, "Miss, where are you going?"
Emily nodded and replied, "I'm going to the 32nd floor too."
Hearing this, Jessica, who had been quiet all along, suddenly turned her head.
She adjusted her sunglasses, revealing a pair of slanted eyes, looked Emily up and down, then put her sunglasses back on and turned her head away. She said nothing, asked nothing, and just left a meaningful look.
What did that mean? Emily didn't get it, but she knew everything would be answered on the 32nd floor.
Meanwhile, those annoying shareholders were back. They were still there to remove the president.
Soon, the meeting room was filled with noise, and Andrew was having trouble controlling the situation.
Just as he was getting anxious, he saw Michael, sitting at the head of the table, smashing the glass he was holding onto the ground.
Then he stood up, buttoned his suit, and said to everyone, "Since you all can't agree on the redistribution of shares and want to remove me, why don't you come back when you've reached an agreement, so you don't waste my time. As long as I'm in this position, I've got countless projects to handle and no time to argue with you."
With that, Michael prepared to leave.
But those stubborn shareholders weren't about to let him go that easily! It wasn't easy to gather so many shareholder representatives together.
Since they couldn't solve the overwhelming public opinion, they should quickly let go of the president's position and go home to deal with family matters!
"Michael, you have to give us an explanation today, no matter what!"
"Yeah, explain clearly, or no one is leaving today!"
Explanation?
Hearing this, Michael couldn't help but laugh. He turned around, looked at the shareholder representative who had just spoken bluntly, and walked straight to his side.
The people around were still intimidated by Michael's strong presence. They didn't dare to speak; they just breathed heavily and stared at Michael. This was their biggest threat to him.
And Michael, his eyes almost blazed with anger. There were too many things bothering him these days, and the shareholders were the most troublesome.
Michael said, "Willie Reed, if I remember correctly, your Vanguard Innovations Group was originally the most insignificant small company in my father's hands, right? Do you also agree with their idea of equally dividing ten percent of the shares?"
Equally dividing ten percent of the shares would mean Vanguard Innovations Group would get a free ride on Smith Corporation, an absolute bully clause.
Most of them were trying to take advantage of Michael's difficult situation to grab more benefits. But some people are too easily blinded by profit, forgetting their own position.
"I... Michael, you need to give us an explanation for the online news! When the trouble gets bigger, everyone will be implicated with you. Instead of that, you should step down early and explain to Mason, which would also give us a..." Willie, whom Michael mentioned, spoke up, but as he spoke, he lost his confidence.
Not only because of his low status and the fact that he relied on Michael's father for his current glory, but also because Michael in front of him was becoming increasingly sinister.
He scanned the crowd with cold eyes, the depths of his eyes burning with intense anger, making people shiver.
"Willie said it well. I can give you all an explanation, but when will you give me one?" Michael asked.
Michael's question stunned everyone present.
He smiled, his deep voice rising again. "When my father took over Smith Corporation, he had enough funds to operate, but just to keep pace with the various branches in Emerald City, so everyone could make money. He ignored my grandfather's opposition and chose to suspend all the headquarters' business to help you attract investment and cooperation. Your branches made money, and all of it went into your pockets."
Michael continued, "But at that time, my family didn't make a penny. My mother even argued with my father over this, and she even checked the company's public accounts, where all the money was used as collateral for you. Shouldn't you give me an explanation for these things first!"
