The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 190 The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department

Michael mulled it over, and no matter how he sliced it, something felt off.

"No way, Emily's lying to me," he muttered.

Seeing Michael muttering things, seemingly a bit unhinged, Andrew got a bit freaked out. Could Michael have been possessed by a ghost after not seeing Emily for a few days?

"Mr. Smith, you..." Andrew started.

Michael cut him off, "You, call Emily again."

Andrew blinked, "What?"

"I said, call her right now. Tell her the shareholders are causing trouble at the company again, and I got hurt while negotiating. Now I'm in the hospital, and she needs to come immediately," Michael ordered. "Mr. Smith, isn't that a bit much?" Andrew hesitated.

"A bit much? Andrew, you haven't been with me for a few days, and now you're switching sides? What, you don't listen to me anymore, or is Emily secretly paying you extra?" Michael snapped. "No, Mr. Smith, I'll call her right away," Andrew stammered, rushing out of the office to dial Emily's number.

Emily was still fuming at Michael, but more than that, she was mad at herself. She couldn't let go of him, willing to endure all this crap for him, but she just couldn't understand why he hated her so much and wouldn't let her go. Her phone rang, interrupting her thoughts. It was Andrew.

At that moment, she was in the showroom of JM Jewelry, helping Bryan entertain some business partners. The conversation was going well until it shifted to Smith Corporation because everyone knew she was Michael's wife. Emily hated it but had to put up with it. She thought of stepping out for some air but didn't expect Smith Corporation's troubles to follow her.

"What now?" she snapped, answering the call.

Andrew, pretending to be anxious, lied, "Mrs. Smith! Something bad happened. The shareholders are causing trouble again, and Mr. Smith got injured. He's been sent to the hospital!" Emily's heart raced, "Which hospital?"

She felt meeting Michael was the biggest mistake of her life. The hospital was so crowded it made her dizzy. Unable to replace Michael in the emergency room, she was on the verge of tears.

But then she saw him, looking perfectly fine, chatting and laughing with the nurses at the nurse's station. More accurately, the nurses were surrounding him, giggling and chatting.

Just like when she first fell for him, Michael stood tall at 6'1", with striking features, perfectly proportioned double eyelids, and a sunny smile. He always had this indifferent attitude, like the world was his playground, and he was in control of everything.

Just like now, she was under his control, wasn't she?

Thinking of this, Emily felt her heart shatter.

She was the one who worried about him the most, yet he insisted on tormenting her like this.

Emily forced herself to swallow her sadness, gritted her teeth, and walked forward. Her flat shoes made no sound on the floor.

It wasn't until she was right next to Michael that he slowly turned his head, and the nurses' smiles froze.

"You're here?" Michael said, sounding indifferent.

Yeah, he always loved toying with her, playing with emotions.

"Andrew said you were injured. Looks like it's serious, huh? You even have time to flirt in the hospital?" Emily snapped, unable to hold back her anger.

The nurses blushed and quickly scattered. They had no choice; this was a hospital, and they couldn't argue with Emily. Plus, she had that strong wife vibe, and they knew better than to mess with her.

"Emily, can't you talk nicely?" Michael sighed, turning to look at her.

She was in casual clothes, a cardigan paired with wide-leg pants, very convenient... mainly convenient for him to take action.

Yes, Michael had planned this hospital meeting to take her for a gynecological check-up. He wanted to know if Emily was really suffering from some incurable stomach illness or if she was pregnant, and whose child it was. All of this made Michael very curious.

Emily retorted, "Talk nicely with you? I don't think that's necessary. Since you're fine, I'm leaving. Don't waste my time next time; I don't have time to entertain you."

With that, she turned to leave. But Michael grabbed her and pulled her into his arms, then carried her into the nearby elevator with surprising strength. "Michael! What are you doing? I'm very busy, I don't have time to play with you!" Emily shouted.

In the elevator, with just the two of them, no matter how much Emily yelled, Michael pretended not to hear. He pressed the button for the obstetrics and gynecology floor, and seeing this, Emily was even more terrified. "Michael, put me down, or I'll scream, do you believe me?"

"Scream, go ahead, I'm ready for it." Michael pulled out their marriage certificate from his jacket pocket. "Scream, and I'll show this to everyone! You're my wife, and it's only right for me to take you for a check-up. Let's see who dares to stop me."

Emily never expected Michael to play such a ruthless trick. It seemed her pregnancy would soon be revealed, and she couldn't hide it from him anymore.

What about the child? If he didn't want this child, could she still keep it? How would she face the storm brought by the Smith family?

Even while waiting in line for the check-up, Emily tried every possible way to escape. But her strength was no match for Michael's; as long as he wanted, she couldn't get away. Just when Emily was at a loss, trying to stay calm, Michael's phone rang.

However, Michael was very cautious. Even while answering the phone, he kept Emily "locked" by his side, holding her tightly, making it impossible for her to escape.

Seeing this, the surrounding doctors, nurses, and patients' families couldn't help but gossip, "I wonder if these two are here for a check-up... or to shoot an action movie?"
