The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 191 Moving Again

Life was full of crazy coincidences. The more you dreaded something happening, the more it seemed to pop up, leaving you nowhere to hide.

When Michael saw Andrew's name on the caller ID, he picked up without a second thought.

He figured it wasn't about Veda's kidnapping. Ever since he started suspecting Emily, Michael had told Andrew to only discuss any breakthroughs in the IP address investigation face-to-face. So, this sudden call had to be about work. And if it was work-related, there was no need to avoid Emily.

But at this close range, Emily could hear Andrew too.

What Michael didn't expect was Andrew's first words would instantly freeze the air between him and Emily.

Andrew said, "Mr. Smith, Ms. Brown showed up at the office. She says she's two months pregnant, and the baby is... yours."

Michael's first instinct was to look at Emily. Her eyelids twitched, her face went stiff, and she stared at him blankly, looking lost and confused.

Michael felt the same. Sophia was pregnant? And it was his kid? How was that possible, two months ago...

As Michael tried to piece it together, someone else took the phone. Apparently, Sophia was crying at the office, and Andrew had no choice but to bring her in, and then she grabbed the phone. Listening to her sobs and the words "our child" and "Michael" on the other end, Michael was stunned, and Emily was even more numb.

Emily said coldly, "So, someone else is pregnant? Congrats, Mr. Smith. Why'd you bring me here to humiliate myself?"

Just then, a nurse came out and called, "Number twenty-nine, Emily! Emily, it's your turn for the check-up!"

Hearing this, Emily's mind reeled. She shook off Michael and left the obstetrics and gynecology department without looking back.

She knew now that Sophia was pregnant too. The child in her belly had to remain a secret. She had to leave Michael and the Smith family as soon as possible.

Michael's mind was blank. He knew he had to figure this out fast, but Sophia... He didn't want to deal with her right now.

Compared to this sudden baby news, he had to stabilize things with Emily first. Emily knew about Sophia's pregnancy, and Michael knew she was thinking about leaving the Smith family again.

Sure enough, Michael chased Emily all the way back to Emerald Lake Manor. He saw her contacting the moving company again.

"Emily, can you calm down and stop using the threat of moving out to scare me? Whatever the problem is, we can solve it. Is this necessary?" Michael was nearly frantic. He couldn't explain why he cared so much about Emily.

He knew he couldn't admit he was wrong, but he could definitely use extreme measures to keep her.

Emily, furious, said, "You think I'm scaring you? You think this is easy to solve? Who's being unreasonable here? Michael, did you hear? Sophia is pregnant, and she's carrying your child!"

"She's carrying the grandson your mom always wanted. Grandpa never liked you being together, but now everything's perfect. And me? I'm just in the way of your happy little family. You two are clearly in love. Why should I stick around, making a fool of myself and being a nuisance?"

Tears streamed down Emily's face, cutting into Michael's heart like knives. The pain was indescribable, and it left him stunned.

Emily was getting the last suitcase from the room. After the last move, most of her stuff was still at Abigail's place. She only brought back a couple of suitcases, just in case. She didn't even bother putting them back in the closet, leaving them in the dressing room instead.

Michael had told her a bunch of times to tidy up her things and not leave them lying around, or he might trip over them and mess them up.

She remembered how arrogant and temperamental he was when he said that. She didn't have the energy to argue, thinking she'd tidy up after finishing her work in a few days.

But now, she didn't need to anymore. She had to pack up and leave again, feeling humiliated.

Seeing Emily about to leave again, Michael grabbed her. Just like at the hospital, he pulled her into his arms, holding her tight.

Emily lay limp on the edge of the sofa, feeling Michael's chest heaving uncontrollably. "You can't leave! I won't let you leave. We haven't divorced yet. You can't be so irresponsible! Emily, what am I doing wrong that you have to do this? Why do you have to push me so far away?"

Michael's eyes gradually reddened. Even Ava, who was hiding in the kitchen, was startled.

But Emily found it funny, found Michael funny, and found herself even funnier.

Her gaze gradually became calm, and she looked at Michael seriously, slowly saying, "Michael, do you know what you're saying? Sophia is the one who's pregnant. You're the one being irresponsible. You're the one pushing me away." Michael had never seen Emily like this. She spoke with a slight tremor in her voice, her reddened eyes filled with tears. Even after finishing her last sentence, the look of grievance was still evident on her face, making one feel heartache, an uncontrollable pain.

Michael didn't know how to keep Emily. The only thing he could do now was to assert his dominance, to remind her that she was his wife, she should live in Emerald Lake Manor, she should be the one pregnant, she should be carrying his child!

Michael's eyes were filled with a burning intensity. He tightened his grip around Emily's slender waist, and as his arm gradually tightened, his vibrant red lips met hers in a soft touch.

He kissed her. But she felt like a joke. Emily had no intention of reciprocating. No matter how passionate Michael was, she remained unmoved.

Just like that, Michael gave up and let go of Emily, abandoning his stubborn persistence.
