The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 40 Taking Responsibility

Michael had never really dug into her past; all he knew was she was Hayden's illegitimate kid. He didn't give a damn about her or Sophia's issues, which was why he could speak so confidently. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she stubbornly held them back.

Emily shot back, "Michael, you're just as selfish and gross as they are. You don't even deserve to mention my mom."

Michael was a bit thrown off by Emily's sudden serious tone. He stood up and said, "Emily, I don't care about you and Hayden, but don't drag me into your mess. If you want a divorce, either cancel the deal with Hayden or wait three months for the notarized document to expire."

Emily watched Michael storm off, feeling a bit helpless. She thought, 'I just want to take what's rightfully mine and Isabella's, and then leave them all behind. Why is it so hard?'

Feeling down, Emily decided to hang out with Abigail. But when Abigail showed up, she had some news.

"They really did that?" Emily asked.

Abigail snorted, "Yeah, I didn't see it coming either. With such a big plagiarism scandal, Moonlit Treasures only fired a small-time planner."

Emily let out a cold laugh. "That's classic Sophia. She'd definitely replace someone to take the fall. It's her go-to move. I just didn't expect Michael to let her get away with it." Emily said, stirring her milk cup, looking a bit down. Abigail fumed, "Michael really can't tell right from wrong. Besides making money, what else is he good for?" She sighed, "It's just a shame that young girl had to resign today."

Emily felt a bit sorry but thought, 'She's not completely innocent. She helped Sophia with this. Now she's taking the hit, it's just karma.'

"I heard the young planner didn't know the truth. She was probably tricked by Sophia too," Abigail said.

Emily didn't know what to say. These days, people of all sorts were everywhere. But on the flip side, the planner Violet didn't see it that way. Even though she resigned voluntarily, anyone could tell she was fired. She felt super wronged. She was just helping Sophia and had no idea she was being used. The name on the plan was clearly put there by Sophia.

'Why am I taking the blame? Is it because I have no connections? Now, I can't even stay in this industry,' the more Violet thought about it, the angrier she got. She finally confronted Sophia in the parking lot. Violet rushed over immediately. Violet said, "Miss Brown, I did everything you asked. Now Moonlit Treasures has fired me and made me take the fall. Do you think that's fair?" Sophia seemed surprised to be confronted by Violet. A flash of resentment and anger crossed her eyes, and she cursed inwardly, 'What an idiot!' Worried about the parking lot's surveillance cameras, Sophia pulled Violet to a corner. She forced a smile and tried to calm Violet down.

"What's the big deal? Chill out. You know my connection with Mr. Smith. With his pull and my recommendation, getting you a cushy job is no problem. But right now, with the whole Moonlit Treasures mess just wrapping up, looking for a job would be like admitting you screwed up. So just hang tight. Later, I'll have Mr. Smith hook you up with something good, okay?"

Hearing that Sophia was still willing to help her out, Violet decided to trust her.

But she still frowned and asked, "How long do I have to wait? I can't be jobless."

Sophia, getting a bit impatient, said, "At least a few months. The internet's all over everything now, right? But it also forgets fast. A few months will fly by, and everyone will forget about the Moonlit Treasures thing. By then, replaceing a job will be way easier, don't you think?"

Violet wasn't convinced. "A few months? I can't wait that long. I need money; I'm broke."

Sophia looked at her with disdain and then snapped, "Fine, I'll transfer $10,000 to you. Just wait a bit longer for the job."

Hearing that Sophia was still willing to give her money, Violet could only thank her. Sophia cursed her as an idiot in her mind.

As they were transferring the money, they noticed a car passing by and quickly separated. Sophia realized it was Michael's car. She ran over and saw Andrew driving. She immediately asked, "Where's Michael now?"

She also noticed that Andrew had a bag of snacks. Sophia immediately said happily, "Are these for me?" She knew Michael never ate snacks. Andrew just smiled and said, "No."

Sophia's face stiffened for a moment, but she kept her smile and continued, "Then give them to me. I'll take them up."

Andrew smiled professionally and said, "No need, Miss Brown. This is Mr. Smith's order. If you need to see Mr. Smith, you can go directly to his office." Seeing that Andrew was so firm, Sophia glared at him angrily and said, "Fine." Then they parted ways. Andrew actually didn't like Sophia, but Michael always indulged her. Especially with this plagiarism issue, everyone in the company was pressuring Michael to fire Sophia and give an explanation. But Michael ignored them. Andrew didn't know what Michael was thinking; he could only follow orders.

Michael was fuming. If it weren't for Emily passing on this damn nausea to him, he wouldn't have to eat these things he had never touched before. He hated this feeling. It was completely out of his control.

Moonlit Treasures had been unable to contact Ella. They finally reported it to Michael through the business department. Michael didn't expect Ella to be so stubborn. Several attempts to contact her were either met with refusal to meet or refusal to cooperate with their company.

This was Michael's first real setback at work. He didn't expect that he couldn't even replace out Ella's identity.

Finally, Michael called the company's legal team for a meeting. He didn't believe this Ella could go against him. So Emily received a lawsuit from Moonlit Treasures.
