The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 70 Heavenly Delight Club
Andrew didn't waste any time and snagged the earliest flight back.
Emily was still fuming after her office meltdown. That gift from Isabella? No way was she letting Sophia have it. She was pissed at Michael too. He'd promised it to her and then flaked. Her trust in him was shattered, and she was done with him. No more expectations or demands from Michael. Emily stared at the invitation in her hand. She knew going to the Heavenly Delight Club meant Sophia might try to humiliate her, but Isabella's "Lucky" was still with Sophia. No way was she letting that slide.
She wasn't about to ask Michael for help again. She'd already embarrassed herself once and wasn't about to do it again.
The invite said 7 p.m. tomorrow night, VIP room at the Heavenly Delight Club. Sophia was definitely setting her up, but she had no choice. She touched her belly, tears in her eyes. "Baby, am I too useless? Can I get 'Lucky' back tomorrow?" The world felt dark. Michael giving her precious "Lucky" to Sophia was a slap in the face, making her feel sick.
She was done with Michael. His sweet talk always made her cave, but now she knew better. Bedtime promises meant nothing. Her soft heart had only led to self-deception and unrequited feelings. Michael's true love was never in the cards. Drained, Emily stumbled back to Emerald Lake Manor, only to replace no one but Ava. The house felt cold and hollow, and she was scared.
Ava saw her mood and rushed over. "Mrs. Smith, why didn't you answer the phone? Mr. Smith called, asking if you were home. He wants you to call him back." Emily couldn't hear Ava anymore. Her ears buzzed, her head spun, and she felt faint. Ava quickly supported her. "Mrs. Smith, what's wrong? I'll call the doctor." Emily grabbed Ava. "It's okay, Ava. I'll go rest in my room."
She slowly made her way to her room, clinging to the stairs. She buried herself in bed, seeking comfort under the blanket.
Emily's tears soaked the sheets. She'd lost everything Isabella had given her. She'd chased "Lucky" for years, only to replace it handed to Sophia, her arch enemy, by her husband. She could never forgive him for that. Her phone kept ringing. Michael had been calling since last night, but she ignored every call. It seemed like he was trying to outlast her; the more she ignored him, the more he called. Finally, she blocked his number.
On his way back, Michael kept calling Emily, but she never picked up. When his number got blocked, he laughed in frustration. She'd trashed his office and now blocked him. He was really putting up with a lot from her.
Michael slammed his phone down, feeling a mix of anger and panic. When he called Emerald Lake Manor, Ava told him Emily had gone out that afternoon. A sharp pain hit his chest. He rubbed it and told the driver to speed up. At the same time, he ordered Andrew to track down Emily's location.
Emily stood outside the Heavenly Delight Club, clutching the invitation. She knew stepping inside meant facing Sophia's humiliation.
But if she backed out, she'd lose "Lucky." After all these years, she thought she could finally stand up to Sophia, but here she was, back at square one.
Memories of Sophia bullying her in their youth flooded back. Sophia and her cronies had cornered her in the bathroom, stripped her, and taken humiliating photos. The thought of those photos ever surfacing made her want to die.
It had been years, and she'd almost forgotten. But as she stood outside the club tonight, those memories came rushing back, making her heart feel like ice.
Emily wondered just how cruel people could be. Probably as cruel as Sophia had been to her.
She finally cleared her mind. So what if Sophia humiliated her again? She'd survived it before, she could survive it now.
Emily knew she had to rely on herself. She didn't call Abigail because she knew her friend's temper, and tonight would turn into a bloodbath if she called her for help. Plus, this was her mother's gift, and she wanted to reclaim it herself. "Sophia, let's see what you've got tonight. Are you still the same as before?" As soon as Emily stepped into the club, someone recognized her and led her to Sophia's room.
The room was huge, definitely the VIP room of the Heavenly Delight Club. People were mingling, laughing, and drinking. The scene made Emily's head throb.
The heavy metal music made her pale face look even more washed out. She scanned the room and finally spotted Sophia next to a man. Sophia was nestled in his arms, their clothes disheveled, and her lipstick smeared. It was obvious what they'd been up to.
Emily frowned and averted her eyes from them. Didn't Sophia like Michael? Why was she with these male models? She was shocked.
Tonight was a friend's birthday, and Sophia had booked the VIP room, sending out invitations to her friends. The invitation Emily had was from Sophia.
At that moment, Sophia saw Emily walk in.
Emily watched Sophia approaching with a smirk and felt utterly disgusted, like she'd just swallowed a dead rat.
Emily glared at Sophia, dressed in black. "Guess you don't care about Michael that much. You're all over other men without a second thought."
Sophia raised her hand, signaling for the music to be turned off, and the room instantly fell silent.
