The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 82 The Oppressive Feeling from the Smith Siblings
Michael stood in front of the toilet, reluctantly flushing away the vomit, feeling a wave of frustration.
What kind of rare stomach illness did Emily have?
Why wasn't she getting better?
A knock on the door interrupted Michael's thoughts, and Andrew bent down and walked in. "Mr. Smith, outside..."
With his mind full of thoughts about Emily, Michael almost forgot he had important business to attend to.
He quickly composed himself, brushed off his suit, and reappeared solemnly in front of the shareholders.
As the president of Smith Corporation, Michael's innate aura of nobility was already intimidating.
More importantly, whenever a crucial company meeting was held, his exceptionally handsome features would become deep and sharp, making people afraid to meet his gaze. Meanwhile, Michael glanced around the conference table, crossed his right leg over his left, and asked Andrew behind him. "The numbers don't add up."
Andrew had long been prepared for Michael's response. He bowed slightly and said directly, "Mrs. Scarlett Smith didn't come. She said she was delayed by something."
Busy all day, probably just playing cards with friends or having afternoon tea.
The shareholders' meeting was held twice a year. She didn't attend at the beginning of the year, nor did she come mid-year either?
In his work, Michael had always been impartial, even with his own family, showing no leniency.
Michael said, "Tell my mom to come to the office today."
"Of course, you can also tell her not to come unless she's not interested in the reallocation of her shares."
He added, "By the way, I'm going to have lunch at the hospital."
Andrew had followed Michael for many years and knew his thoughts intimately; thus, these orders did not surprise him.
Those who wanted to play tricks in front of Michael immediately held their breath, not daring to make a sound, merely wanting to safeguard their shares and listening obediently.
The shareholders' meeting continued, while elsewhere, a quietly planned meeting was just beginning.
In a downtown café.
Veda, in a sequined silver short dress, stood out in the crowd. She handed the menu back to the waiter without even a glance, lazily lifting her eyelids and ordering, "I want a Blue Mountain coffee, with sugar and milk." Sophia voice rose, "The same as this lady."
In contrast, Sophia, sitting opposite Veda, seemed less imposing.
She nodded to the waiter, and after he left, she smiled obsequiously at Veda.
Sophia said, "This café has good reviews, Veda. You'll definitely like it."
Hearing this, Veda's lips curled into a sneer. She leaned back on the sofa and said directly to Sophia, "Why did you call me here? I'm very busy!"
She added, "Actually, if you hadn't mentioned Daniel on the phone, I wouldn't have been interested in coming for coffee with you." Veda wasn't afraid of offending anyone.
The Smith family was extremely wealthy, and she was the most dazzling socialite in the elite circle.
If Sophia hadn't used her seductive wiles to ensnare Michael, she wouldn't even be worthy of carrying Veda's shoes, let alone sitting here having coffee with her.
Sophia didn't like Veda's arrogance either.
But she had to use Veda to get rid of Emily, so she had to endure it for now to have a chance to vent her anger! Sophia didn't waste any words, directly stating her purpose. "Today, I want to talk to you about Daniel and Emily."
This time, it was Veda who couldn't stay calm.
She had secretly loved Daniel for many years without any result. She had thought Daniel might have someone he liked.
But she never expected that person to be the unpresentable Emily!
Veda said angrily, "Emily is truly relentless. What's she doing with Daniel now?"
Seeing Veda's eyes suddenly become sharp, Sophia knew her plan today wasn't in vain. The $50 cup of Blue Mountain coffee wasn't wasted.
Sophia said, "Just like when she seduced Michael. Michael couldn't see through it, and Daniel is just as foolish!"
She added, "Veda, you must keep an eye on Daniel. You two are a perfect match! You can't let Emily steal him away. You should teach her a lesson!" Sophia always thought Veda was a brainless rich girl.
Thus, by merely befudding her, she could be easily imposed.
But today, Veda remained unmoved.
Logically, she should be rushing to the hospital to slap Emily ten times by now!
Sophia asked, "Veda, did you hear me?"
"What?" Veda and Michael were truly siblings. Both exuded an overwhelming sense of pressure.
Sophia stopped talking, until she saw Veda curl her lips again, her eyes filled with a fierce look, and she slowly said, "Emily is disgraceful and has embarrassed our Smith family. I'll replace a way to deal with her." She added, "But, Sophia, she's your half-sister. Speaking ill of her in front of me, completely disregarding the Brown family's reputation, you are not a good person either."
As soon as she finished speaking, Veda snorted coldly, leaned forward slightly, and said to her again, "I know your schemes; I am not that foolish!"
Coincidentally, the waiter brought the coffee to the table.
Veda sneered again, picked up her bag, and left without looking back.
She looked down on Emily, and even more so on Sophia.
In her eyes, the daughters of the Brown family were all schemers trying to climb up.
Veda left, and the untouched expensive coffee on the table was even more glaring.
And all this mess, Sophia unhesitatingly blamed on one person.
That damn Emily!
In the hospital.
Emily half-sat up, leaning against the headboard, looking weak.
Just after getting over a wave of nausea, she sneezed four or five times in a row.
She really didn't know if she had caught a cold or offended someone and was being talked about behind her back.
It was probably the former.
After all, she had offended so many people that there would be no end to the discussions. Otherwise, she might be sneezing for twenty-one out of twenty-four hours a day. The remaining three hours would be for them to drink water after getting thirsty from cursing.
A breeze blew in from the window, and Emily, eager to be discharged early to see Isabella, was very protective of her health.
She got up to close the window, only to hear a man's urgent voice behind her, "Emily, don't move! Just tell me what you need!"
