Chapter 59

Braxton pov

He screwed up. Braxton knew that when she told him she was pulling an all nighter at the library. They had plans to make dinner together and do what mates do. Instead he was sitting across from the nightclub where he got jumped several months ago with his brother and Alana.

Braxton sat on the club for over ten hours and saw plenty of shady things while he was sitting there. He was also trying to figure out a way to get out of the hole he dug himself with his mate. Flowers? No Penelope wouldn’t really like flowers, she wasn’t materialistic.

He was distracted when the owner took a shipment of what could only be drugs given how much he looked around nervously.

“Do we go in?” Alana asked anxious.

“No, not yet,” he replied and they sat on the club and then continued to think about what he could do as he watched several d**g deals go down. The evening turned into night and the club started to get busy with lots of different kind of shifters and supernatural walking around. Braxton was sitting on the back door where he was beaten to a pulp and his brother and Alana had the front.

When there was a girl who was clearly being f****d into the club against her will Braxton decided to take action.

“Denali keep and eye out, Alana your with me,” Braxton stated and headed out of his hiding spot. Alana came walking out of her spot that was situated across the street of the club and the two of them went barreling past the bouncer. Braxton went charging into the club, into the back rooms, past the bouncers who was also a bear shifter, but he could obviously sense his alpha aura and backed off. When he got to the office door it was locked so he quickly busted it down with his shoulder.

Braxton barely managed to get to the office in time as the owner had his junk out and was about to put it into the very resistant underage girl. The girl saw both of them and started to scream for help.

“Help! Please help me!” The girl begged and Brax went into action, he threw the man off of the young girl and went after him while Alana went to assist the young girl. Brax bent down and picked him up by the throat and growled menacingly. He finally got a smell of the owner.

“Fox,” his bear grumbled unhappily. Foxes were known to be cunning, wily, and highly unpredictable. They were also incredibly rare as they were also hunted to near extinction by the werewolf council as they were deemed a threat to wolf’s several hundred years ago. Bears were neutral on this decision as fox’s had used bears to kill wolf’s just like every other supernatural race.

“How is she?” He asked Alana while still growling at this pos.

“She’s fine, she’s also only fourteen and was kidnapped by her pack.” Alana growled out.

“Get her out of here, while I have a word with this fine gentleman,” Brax said with so much sarcasm it almost made his tongue roll off.

“Do you remember me fox?” Brad asked when the two woman left and the fox nodded reluctantly.

“Then you know why I am here?” He asked the terrified fox who nodded again.

“I told them not to mess with a white bear, but they wouldn’t listen… this is all those damn rogues fault.” The fox started babbling, but Braxton squeezed his throat to get his attention.

“Yeah not cause you were about to force yourself on a fourteen year old girl.”

“Look I have no idea where they are!” The fox screamed in a panic.

“Lies,” his bear rumbled, he was angry and agitated so Braxton tightened his hold on his throat.

“My bear is very angry and restless so I suggest you tell me the truth before I not so accidentally rip your arm off.” The fox’s eyes widened in panic before he blurted out,

“Okay! Okay! They are laying low after some one raided their last auction in Boston.”

“Tell me where?” Braxton demanded.

“Ohio!!” The owner shouted and he nodded and slammed his head against the wall until the man passed out.

Penelope pov

She returned home after a long day of classes regretting pulling an all nighter at the library. She opened the door to her apartment and wasn’t surprised to replace her apartment empty. Penelope put her books down and decided to take a long bath. She got out of the tub feeling slightly refreshed and decided to make some dinner. Penelope checked her phone and saw she had a text from Brax saying that he had a lead and wouldn’t be back until late. She tried to push down the disappointment, but sadly it wouldn’t go away.

Penelope ate in silence and was frustrated about the whole situation. She decided to stick to her routine and work on school after she ate. Penelope started on her normal routine, but she wasn’t wasn’t able to get any of her work done. She continuously checked her phone for texts for updates, and felt the disappointment when she didn’t receive any. She had to stay focused on her goal that she decided to stay dedicated to just last night. She worked for a few hours, proud of herself for checking her phone only four times.

Then her phone rang, Penelope pounced on it and checked the caller log. She was shocked, disappointed, and then excited to see that it was Lili calling her. She must be going into labor with the twins. Penelope quickly picked up the phone,

“Lili are you okay?”

“No! I’m pissed!” Lili exclaimed on the other end. Penne was worried at first, but it seems that there was a point to this phone call.

Lili called her and it seemed it was going to be a long mutual “b***h about my mate conversation.” Lili was still livid at Killian that he had or let it be announced that the next werewolf king was born and Penne didn’t blame Lili. There had been so many rogue attack on Callum throughout the years. There had been a few that her mate’s didn’t even know about, Lili just handled them like a boss.

Penelope was pissed that LB disregarded her sound opinion about important matters. She was supposed to be his equal, his Luna. The two sisters went back and forth for around thirty minutes starting out at first with what atrocities said mate had committed. Then went into past grievances and now the women were discussing the idiocy of men in general.

“They never listen,” Lili said to her and then in a louder voice. “Do you!” Penelope laughed as she finally realized that Lili was doing this in her mates presence. That also saddened Penelope as she had no idea where Braxton was.

“Such asssholes,” Penelope muttered

“They never-“ Lili started but then let out with a huge gasp.

“What is it?” Penelope asked scared.

“My water broke,” Lili sounded scared and there was some shuffling and Nathan’s voice came through the phone.

“Gotta go, we will keep you updated.”

“I’ll fly out this weekend!” Penelope said as she was so excited to see her new niece and nephew.

“Where are you going?” Braxton asked as he walked in the door followed by Alana who went into the kitchen.

“To my pack, my sister just went into labor.”

“Okay well we can drop you off we are leaving in the morning,” Braxton stated and Penelope’s temper flared.

“No thank you I’m going to get my ticket, I have class in the morning,” Penelope went into her room not even waiting for a reply. She went to her bedroom and immediately went to replace the best ticket after Friday. It sucked that she would have to wait three days to see the babies, but this is what she signed on for.

Seth pov

Seth just got word that Lili went into labor with the twins and to carry on preparations for the attack on the council without him. Killian is fair but ruthless as he had drafted up a kill on sight list. The entire elders are on said list as every single one of them were aware of what was occurring in that pack in Arkansas. Brad gave a list of know corrupt elite warriors, the rest is going to be hell trying to sort out. Seth was already dreading the trials he knew his alpha would insist on.

The war room as Dustin likes to call it is has a map of the werewolf council headquarters.

“Don’t we need to wait for your alpha?” Kane was asking and Seth shook his head.

“He told us to catch him up, go ahead Brad give us a run down.” Brad gave a quick nod,

“This is where we need to hit first.” Brad started and point to a place on the map. “This is the armory and where all the warriors will scramble to first, we need to hit it immediately otherwise we don’t stand a chance.” Seth could feel the shift in the room of those who were unclear of where his loyalties lay. Brad pointed to a different spot on the map,

“Stay clear of this area here whatever you do, this is the servants and omega quarters. The majority of these people were refugees who had no choice but to work for the council.” There was some grumbling at that announcement, but Elder Brooks walked in and her aura silenced them.

“Brad is going to keep you alive, I suggest you listen to him,” Elder Brooks told the room and they rumbled in agreement.

“This is their surveillance room,” Brad said pointing to another spot on the map. “The council has cameras all over the building and will be able to monitor our every move if we don’t take this room out right away. Those that were at the compound in Arkansas and saw their surveillance room theirs was like something you would have seen in a college kids dorm room.” Seth was surprised to hear that as from what he heard it was quite advanced.

“When will the attack happen?” Alpha Kane asked.

“Honestly with the Luna going into the labor I’m not sure, could be a week to two weeks, maybe a month,” Seth replied.

“We shouldn’t have to wait until your Alpha seems himself ready,” one of the lesser known alpha states. He and Brad looks to each other and laughs.

“What’s so funny?” Kane asked.

“Alpha Killian and Alpha Nathan are the strongest Alpha’s in the room, if you want to go to war without them you don’t stand a chance.” There was some grumbling, but ultimately the alpha’s were silent as they knew this to be the truth.

“So we prepare our own armory, our troops and wait for the word of the Alpha,” Seth stated firmly and everyone nodded in agreement.
