The Fall Ball
Chapter 19

(Rose)

As I get out of the car, I look at the Alpha. He just smiles at me. Craig laughs.

“The drive was fine. We got to know one another a bit better.” He says to the Alpha.

Luna Liz walks up to us. I smile at her. “How about we go in and sit down. I am sure we are all hungry and could use a break from the road.” She says to us giving a knowing look between Craig and I.

“Yeah, let’s head inside,” Alpha says to us.

We all walk towards the door. Craig rushes ahead of us to get the door. Luna and Alpha thank him as they make their way past him. As I am about to walk past him he stops me.

“Hey, do me a favor and don’t say anything about my gift to the Alpha. He doesn’t know. Actually no one knows, except you.” He says to me.

“Yeah okay, I will keep it to myself.” I say.

Craig follows me through the door. We meet up with Alpha and Luna just as they are sitting down. The server placed us in a booth. So Luna slid into the booth and before I could sit next to her, Alpha sits down with a smile on his face.

I roll my eyes and sit down sliding all the way over. Craig then sits next to me. A smile spreads across his face as he looks at the Alpha and Luna.

“So how was your drive so far?” Craig asks them.

“Oh I read my book to pass the time. While this man of mine looked through some pack papers that he has with him. I swear he never stops working.” Luna Liz says giggling.

“Just some updated information I received over the night. It’s something I want to talk to the King about. So I want to be sure that I have all my facts right before I see him today.” Alpha Jake responds.

The server comes back and takes our order. I just have a simple fruit salad and a bowl of oatmeal. The other three got large breakfast platters with eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The server walked off with our order.

Craig looked at me. “You didn’t get very much to eat. Are you sure you got enough to eat? I don’t think we will be eating until we get to the palace.” I roll my eyes at him.

“Yes, I got enough to eat. I am not a wolf, so I have to watch what I eat so that I don’t get overweight. I don’t burn as many calories as you do. And I like my figure the way it is.” I replied, looking out the window that I was sitting next to.

“I also like your figure the way it is,” Craig says with a smile. Luna Liz laughs and looks away from us with a blush forming on her face. I just roll my eyes at him and turn back to looking out the window.

“You know even a non-active wolf can help you keep your weight in check. Maybe she is not active because you are starving her.” Craig says while watching me.

“I am not starving myself or my wolf,” I tell him.

The server walks back over with a tray of food. She places all the food on the table. We thank her and dig into our meal. The table is quiet while we all eat. I finish first.

I sit there people watching while the others finish eating. I look at Alpha and I notice he is watching me too.

“Are you sure you aren’t still hungry? We have about 2 hours until we get there and we won’t be making any more stops.” He says to me.

“Yes I’m fine.” I say to him. “Why are you so interested in making sure I eat? I promise you I am fine and am not hungry anymore.”

“Well with the way your body healed itself yesterday. I want to be sure that you are taking care of your body. I am sure you burned a lot of calories to heal.” He says to me.

“I promise I am fine. I feel fine. Nothing hurts. I am not hungry. And I don’t feel exhausted. I actually feel normal today.” I tell him.

“Okay, if you say so,” Alpha responds.

They all finish eating. The server comes and takes the empty plates and leaves the check. Alpha leaves the money on the table and we all stand up to go.

As we walk out the door and over to the cars.

Luna Liz looks at me, “Good luck. Please don’t hurt him we will be there soon.” She says with a smile on her face as she gets into her car.

Alpha watches Craig and I walk to our car.

“You only have 2 hours. You both will be fine. Once we get there you will have a bit of space. We are set to meet with the King and Queen as well as Ash for lunch an hour after we arrive there. So you will have an hour or to get settled into your suite.” He tells us as he gets into his car and closes the door.

I look at Craig. He smiles at me. He opens the door for me.

“Looks like we are roommates,” he says with a smirk.
