The Headmaster Alpha's Mate
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 104

Drake kept his head down as he entered into the Jorvick pack house basement where the omegas worked and lived, nobody paid him any heed, he was just another omega, not important to even warrant a glance. For once in his life, he was happy for the anonymity of being a slave brought, nobody giving him a second glance, after all, in their opinion he was a nothing, and a nobody.

The basement was no worse than expected, hardly any daylight, small and cramped, with a smell of damp in the air. The corridors and rooms were filled with stick thin werewolves, who all looked like they would welcome death to take them away from the atrocity that was their life. Some were supporting obvious punishment injuries, and their wolves were so weak, they could no longer heal them, and the next beating would probably bring them death. Which, in his own experience would be welcome to escape the hell they were living in.

“Can I help?” a soft voice barely about a whisper asked.

Drake looked around at the man who asked. His head was bowed, and just like Drake before him, was unable to make eye contact through the utter fear that one wrong word would cause him insurmountable amounts of pain and suffering.

“Hi, I am Drake, I am here with Alpha Zander and Princess Chloe” Drake began.

“What do you want?” the man asked, his eyes never leaving the floor, the only reason he was not shaking, because he recognised the wolf before him was omega.

“To help, if you will let me, is there any way we can speak to all the omegas?” Drake asked, this was the dangerous part.

“No, but you can speak with some of us.” The man nodded.

“What is your name?” Drake asked, with a soft smile towards him.

“I don’t have a name, none of us do, we have a number, I am number 13.”

Chloe kept her eyes front and centre, concentrating on what this meeting was going to be about, and trying not to look at the poor omegas who were serving the tea and coffee, her heart breaking for them. Sheba was raging inside her mind, and she had to keep reminding her wolf that they were not here to cause a physical fight, or kill the Alpha and Luna of the pack, no matter how satisfying that would be for both of them.

“Well Alpha, I can assure you no member of my pack will vote for you or your rules, so this visit is a waist of all our time.” Tristan opened the conversation.

“Yet required by the council, to ensure a free, fair and fully informed election.” Zander stated.

“We do not subscribe to the ethos of having one family rule over us and dictate what we can or cannot do with our own pack.” Tristan continued.

“I can assure you, we are not dictators, and if we win the referendum, and assened to the werewolf throne again, there would still be an eldership made up of a representative of every pack, who would be voted in every five years, by all wolves, to ensure that all voices are heard, and any law’s would not be changed without a majority vote from the elders.” Zander argued their case, as the young warriors sat writing notes, whilst keeping a close eye on those around them, in case of any attack.

“But you do not deny that you think omegas and humans are equal to ranked wolves.” Tristan scoffed.

“We believe we are all werewolves, and humans are humans, everyone is deserving of respect, and equal opportunity, irrespective of rank or species. Of course each has their role in society, however we do not agree that role should be because of rank only. There are many omegas who can go on to lead. After all, look at Amanda Bines, a member of the council, someone your allies fully support, yet she is just an omega.” Zander argued the point.

“She is different.” Tristan huffed like a child, unable to refute the facts of the matter, or come up with a valid argument about Zander’s claims.

“What about treating people fairly?” Chloe interrupted them, unable to hold her tongue, any longer.

“You say we are dictators, yet all our pack members are healthy, fed, respected, have decent homes. None of them starved, or mistreated, yet already I have seen here today, with my own eyes how your omega’s are malnourished, and terrified to even look up.” Chloe continued, anger pulsing through her veins.

“I would put it to you, that YOU are the dictatorship, not us.” Chloe continued.

“I object to that, these omegas, they know their place and are understanding that they are less than ranked pack members, none of them complain, they realise this is what they are, just OMEGAS.” Pia spat back at Chloe.

“So, they have a right to complain then?” Chloe smirked at the Luna, she had walked right into her trap.

“Nobody ever does, complain, why would they? They are lucky to be here, and have the protection of the pack, from rogues or our enemies.” Pia sat up straighter confident in her argument.

“Or the other argument to that statement is, because they fear they will be punished, or worse put to death?” Chloe argued back.

“If they do not like it, they can always leave, and become rogues.” Tristan intervened.

Chloe, resisted the overwhelming urge to fist pump the air in victory.

“So, you are saying, that if we asked your omegas if they would like to leave, they would all choose to remain as slaves in your pack?” Zander qualified the point.

“Yes.” Tristan puffed up his chest, totally oblivious to the trap that he had just walked into.

“So, what if they wanted to leave you, what would happen then?” Chloe asked her head tilted to one side.

“Then they could go, fend for themselves. They are not important in any way to us or the pack.” Tristan stated.

“If they can replace a better hole to live in, then they can crawl to it!” Pia spat out.

“Interesting, so if we gathered the omega’s now, and you promised that if they wanted to leave, and they could go wherever they liked without repercussions, they would all choose to stay here.” Zander asked.

“This Alpha is a prize prick.” Caesar laughed out to Zander, not quite believing how an Alpha wolf could allow himself to fall into this trap so easily.

“He may still back out of what we want to do, so don’t celebrate just yet.” Zander warned his wolf.

“Why don’t we put that to the test, right now? Gather all your omegas, and their children, and offer them the choice, right here and right now.” Chloe said, a small smirk on her face, as she glared at Pia, her eyes locking with hers, in an obvious challenge.

“Why would we do that?” Pia growled at Chloe.

“Because you just made a statement, that your omegas want to stay here, despite how you treat them, and would never leave your pack, as an argument against me, and my belief that if given a choice, your omegas would want to leave. Irrespective of me regaining my throne, not that I care about power, now, it is time to put your money where your mouth is. Or are you scared that you will lose a few omegas, despite your thoughts on how unimportant they are to you, or your pack?” Chloe challenged her.

Tristan let out a low growl, knowing he had no option but to back up his words, else he would again lose face in front of his pack. He looked at Pia, as she glared at Chloe, unable to think of a way out of the hole he had dug himself in, hoping his mate could help him out, but she was unresponsive, locked in a battle of wills with the Luna princess, so would not be able to render thoughts.

“Well?” Zander challenged, wanting an answer.

Drake spoke with the omega’s that had gathered, hoping they would not get caught, or any punishment be administered to them if they did.

“I was from Ullswater pack, I was kept in slavery. A few months ago, a few of my fellow omega’s including men, women and children escaped, we lived as rogues, until the weather turned colder and the snow began to fall, we were unable to survive in the forests alone any longer. I reached out to Alpha Zander and the Princess Luna Chloe, and they travelled to come pick us up just before Christmas. At first, we were all terrified, wondering if they would be as bad if not worse than our previous Alpha and Luna, but we made the right decision. The Alpha and Luna, along with every single pack member, they welcomed us, fed us, gave us medical care, housed us in beautiful homes, better than some of the ranked members of our old packs, they even adopted the orphans that escaped with us, into families of the packs. In fact, the Alpha and Luna Princess adopted a young omega pup as their own child. I have seen how they treat their omegas, it is with respect and kindness, I even met my second chance mate, she is omega as well, so are her children, yet her daughter wants to train as a warrior, and The Crescent Moon Pack, are giving her the option to do just that. Some omegas are training to be leaders because they show talent.”

A low murmur echoed around the room, as the Jorvick omegas listened in disbelief, not quite comprehending how that was even possible.

“I can testify to you now, it is a far cry from what I was used to, and if I am honest, it still takes some getting used to. You all do not have to live like this, you are all worth something, so I implore you, if you are given an option to get out, you take it, because this is not living, this is death in life form, and you deserve better.” Drake finished.

“You say that, but what if this is a trap, to weaken our pack.” A voice asked at the rear of the gathered group.

“Does your pack train you to fight?” Drake asked, his eyes flicking around the wolves as they each shook their heads.

“Does you pack ask for your opinion?” Drake asked again?

“Do your ranked pack members care if you live or die?” Drake continued, his voice growing in stature with each question.

“Do they even give you a funeral, if one of you die from mistreatment?” his voice softened, he knew the answer, they would be piled up and burnt without so much as anyone being allowed to grief their loss.

“Have you ever been called into a battle alongside your warriors?”

“We have never had a battle for years.” One Omega answered.

“Do any of you want to have a name, an identity rather than being just another number?” Drake asked them again.

“Then how, is you, leaving for a better quality of life, going to weaken your pack?” Drake questioned them.

“Look, this is my testimony, I am not saying leave, all I am saying, that if you get the chance, then do not be afraid, there are packs out there who will help.” Drake stated.

The door to the basement squeaked open, as a large imposing figure stood at the top of the concrete staircase that led to the Pack house.

“You smelly mangey mutts, you are disgusting, you all stink! smarten yourselves up, your Alpha wants to see you. All of you!” A loud authoritative voice shouted out in disgust, and each of the wolves bowed their heads in response, as Drake, quietly slipped way, and made his way out of the basement, and back to the bus, locking himself in, he had done all he could to convince them, it was now their choice.
