The Headmaster Alpha's Mate
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 80

Chloe’s heart beat rapidly in her chest as she continued to search around the arena for her human parents. With each passing minute she felt increasingly despondent, and the knot that had formed in her stomach tightened like a vice. Her mind was whirring around going through every last scenario she could think of, and none of them left her feeling hopeful that this was just coincidence and a misunderstanding.

“Have you found them?” She linked with Zander, for the umpteenth time, but she already knew the answer. If he had, then her mate would have linked with her immediately to let her know.

“Not yet princess, we have searched the whole ground. We are now going through the Pack house. I have warriors searching all of the individual homes as well.” Zander informed her.

Chloe let out a deep breath, as she continued to look beyond the tree line, it would be easier in her wolf form, and although she wanted to believe that the people who had brought her up as their own daughter would never betray her, that thought was becoming less and less likely.

She decided that she needed to shift, and let Sheba take control. If her parents were frightened of her wolf, then so be it, she would deal with that after she had found them.

“Zanda, I am going to shift and search the forest.” Chloe informed him.

“Okay, I will let Caesar out to search the west side, if you search the East, but Chloe be careful, this could be a trap.” Zander shouted out, concerned about the fact he was separated from his mate.

Chloe walked behind the trees, she did not have a bag for her clothes, but that was the least of her worries. She took off her clothes, folding them into a neat pile, and left them behind a tree, then began her shift.

Instantly Sheba began to sniff the air, then the ground, picking up the scent of Chloe’s mother, she began to follow it, a low growl rumbled in the wolf’s chest. The scent led deeper into the thick forest, towards the lad that was allocated for the new Silvermoon Pack, but something was off, it was like something or someone was masking another scent alongside that of Diane Hancock.

“Robin, I have my mother’s scent, it is leading towards your pack lands.” Chloe informed her cousin,

“Chloe, be careful, Zander and I are on our way.”

Sheba resisted the urge to run in the direction of the scent, trying to concentrate on other smells that were around the area, although her progress was slow due to the number of different wolves that had recently run in the woodlands. Lifting up her head, Sheba sniffed the air, then placed her nose low to the ground once more. There was definitely something else, but she could not place what or who it was.

“Sheba, remember, keep a watchful eye all around us please?”

“I am Chloe, we will replace them. But I am also trying to discern the other scents, see if there is anyone we recognise, or a particular one that is following in the same direction, even at a distance. I am picking up something strange, like a scent that is there but not at the same time, I need to concentrate, let me do my thing.” Sheba responded, as she methodically sniffed the air and ground every few paces.

“Chloe, Caesar has picked up your father’s scent but it is heading in the opposite direction from your mother’s. I think this is a ploy to split us up. Robin and Josh are following you. I will follow your father with Lacey,” Zander informed her.

“No, Zander, have Robin and Josh follow my dad, and you come with me. If they are trying to split us up, let us not give them what they want. Also, maybe we can get some trackers on the case.”

” Maybe that is all we should do, send trackers to recover them, and neither of us follow. If it is a trap, we are walking straight into it, Chloe.”

No sooner than Zander’s words reached Chloe, the sound of a snap echoed around the trees, as a bear trap that was hidden in the undergrowth snapped her leg, and immense burning pain radiated through her body.

“Zander, they have set traps, I am hurt! It burns!”

Zander rushed through the forest in the direction of his mate, Caesar letting out loud growls, and was poised to attack anything or anyone who got in his way. The trees past by in a blur of green, as he ran full speed towards Chloe, desperate to get to her. If there was a trap set, then there would be a person laid in wait for her, or him, sending out a pack wide mind link to have the warriors split into two groups, the first to back up Josh and Robin, the second to come help him and Chloe. He reached the area where Chloe had linked him from, but she was nowhere to be seen, only small spots of b***d lay on the ground where the trap had caught her leg. Caesar let out a loud howl, his mate was taken, and pain pierced his heart, because he had let her down. He sniffed the b***d of his mate and his b***d ran as cold as his nostrils burnt. Silver. .

Sheba let out a low menacing growl, as Diane Hancock stood before her.

“Chloe, Darling, I need to speak with you, please get your wolf under control.” Diane said, keeping a safe distance from Sheba’s snarling and snapping snout to avoid being bitten.

The heckles on Sheba’s neck stood up, as she continued to snarl and bare her teeth at the woman who was supposed to love Chloe. The pain in her front leg began to burn even more intensely, indicating the trap had been made from pure silver.

“Sheba, give me control, the trap will fall off my leg.” Chloe told her wolf.

“No Chloe, the silver burns, but it is manageable, we are safer with me in this form.” Sheba protested.

“I need to speak with her though, Sheba, please, let me have control back. I will be careful, I promise.”

“If she tries anything, you let me have control instantly.”

“Promise, and you can rip her apart if you want to, but I really need to know and understand what is going on.”

Relenting, Sheba allowed control to shift back to Chloe. Standing naked in front of the woman who had brought her up as her own daughter, Chloe could not keep the sneer from her face.

“Chloe, do not look at me like that.” Diane rebuked her.

“I am sorry, who are you again to tell me what I can or cannot do with my face. After all, I am an adult and you are not even my real mother.” Chloe argued, anger bristling, how dare her mother speak with her about giving her a dirty look, when she had done this.

“Chloe, you need to listen to me. This is for your own good.” Diane sighed, shaking her head at her stubborn daughter.

“You have three minutes to explain, mother, and you had better make it good, because if there is anything I don’t like,I will not hold Sheba back and she is less forgiving than I am.” Chloe hissed out.

“Chloe, we tried to protect you from this, but you would not listen, you remained with your mate, and now all hell is let lose against you. Your father and I have made a deal to keep you safe,” Diane stated.

“What deal?” Chloe growled. She did not like the sound of this. These people did not even realise that the school was a werewolf academy, so she did not trust them to negotiate any deal that Chloe wanted to be a part of.

“We take you home, separate you from your mate, and you live a normal life. The council will deal with Zander, and all of this will be forgotten,” Diane stated, with a dismissive wave of her hand.

“Forgotton! are you f*****g insane! You think I am just going to forget my mate, the love of my life, my other half, my wolf’s other half, and just swan off with you.” Chloe shouted, anger rising up from her stomach, a clear indication it was not just hers, but also Sheba who was disgusted in what her mother was saying.

“Chloe, watch your tongue, now you will return with us, and don’t worry about the mate bond. Ms Bines has promised us that your bond will be broken, and you will have no memory of any of this, it will be like you have awoken from a dream.” Diane tried to sooth.

“f**k OFF!” Chloe shouted, losing the ability to use any other way of disclosing her thoughts about this ridiculous situation.

“Now, now, is that anyway for a princess to speak.” The Welsh accent of Amanda rang out, as she walked through the trees before them.

“Get her!” Amanda ordered, as Alpha Ken and his beta wolf grabbed hold of Chloe’s naked body.

Instantly, Chloe tried to shift, but as much as she willed Sheba forward, she could not manage to change.

“Oh princess, the silver in your b***d stream from the trap has weakened your wolf.” Amanda stated with a laugh.

“Bring her with us!” Amanda growled out.

“Oh, and Ken dear, take care of the human trash.” She said, as Beta Bill grabbed hold of Chloe’s arms. Chloe twisted against him, but she felt weak, and she knew that Sheba could no longer help her.

“ZANDER!” Chloe shouted out, but the sound was muffled, as if she was locked in some sort of bubble, the noise not escaping its forcefield.

“Now, Princess, you can watch as we dispose of your human mother, oh, and guess what, I lied.” Amanda said with a giggle behind her hand as if she were a little girl.

“Oops, but your daughter will feel the pain of her mate being slaughtered, right before I finish her off.” Amanda smiled.

Alpha Ken chuckled menacingly, as he stood behind Diane, then with a wink to Chloe he shifted, and ripped her head off her shoulders. As Chloe let out a primal scream laced with pain and anger, she was dragged away.

Zander followed the specks of b***d, fear gripping at his soul, when Caesar let out a whimper.

Zander, it is Sheba, she is retreating into Chloe, they have poisoned her.. But she has said, something bad has happened to Chloe, she is in pain, a lot of pain, but not just from the trap, it is worse than that, it is emotional trauma.
