The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 200
Caliana's POV
"Why?" I demanded.
"During the festivities, they pardon some prisoners with minor offenses. June's father is a ranked general so I'm sure he's behind this," Garret answered. "She attempted to kill me,"
"And you didn't make a formal statement and were only arrested because the Alpha ordered it," Marcus said.
"Does the warden know of this," I asked,
"Oh, your friend. Yes, he even tried to fight it but he didn't succeed because there was hardly any evidence of your attack,"
"I'm the Luna of this pack and my word should be enough proof,"
"You made no formal complaint against them," He was serious and I knew that rule very well. I was shocked they even stayed for months in the penitentiary.
"The warden made their lives hell by the way and they were whipped almost every day, cleaned floors, and even helped around in the kitchen on some nights," He said. "As they deserved," I snarled.
"Ruthless," Chuckled Garret.
"Do you have a personal vendetta against them?" He jested and I growled at him. Why was he doing this? Was it because of a f*****g bet?
"Why are you so bent on having them out? Is it because of a bet you made with Marcos?" I narrowed my gaze on him and he shook his head.
"June's father is pushing for this, the two ladies agreed to do community service for 200 days, also, they claimed you beat them up," He told me and I exhaled, leaving the kitchen. I was surprised that Marcus followed after me, he grabbed my wrist and I glared at him.
"I would never risk my brother's chance of happiness over a ludicrous bet, I was only informing you because if this goes on, it might dent your reputation," He informed me, and my anger was pacified.
"I understand, thank you, Marcus," He smiled at me, genuinely this time, and bowed his head low. I was astounded that he'd do that because he was of a higher rank than I was. He was a Lycan Alpha but in submitting to me showed his respect as his sister-in-law and Luna of the pack.
"You're welcome," He said and his gaze darted around the area, searching for any listeners, and when he didn't replace any, he leaned closer to my ear and whispered.
"Edward was supposed to tell you this but didn't have the balls, so he sent me instead," I gasped and he ran in a blur out of there. I got why he was asking those questions in the morning now. I went out into the garden, deep in my thoughts, it has been the best months without that woman, what if it all changes when she comes back?
"Hello, there," I heard a silky voice greet me and I turned around to face Ansley.
Ansley was wearing a beautiful yellow floral dress and her hair was in two french braids.
"Hey," I waved as she approached me.
"Going for a walk, want to join me?" I asked and she nodded with a smile
"I was headed to the falls too," We started into the woods. Both of us were quiet as we enjoyed the cool air. Ansley seemed to be in her feelings and was sad.
"I have two men I'm to marry while I broke the heart of the love of my life," My heart ached and I saw tears in her eyes.
"Do you want to tell me about it?" I asked gently.
"I was in a relationship with a Lycan man for over a year but had to end it because I'm to be married soon,"
"Is the Lycan man Jamal Chasia?" I asked and her eyes twinkled as she nodded. I wasn't too surprised because I had my suspicions.
"Why can't you be with Jamal if you love him," I asked.
"Duty, alliances, bloodlines, and so many factors. I am destined to marry one of the Wizard king's sons; Kian or Norman," "Did he know that?"
"Yes, at first I thought we won't be anything more than friends but we fell in love," She told me, a tear rolling down my eyes.
"So you'll sacrifice your happiness?"
"Yes, it's for the good of the coven," She sighed, and I narrowed my gaze, stunned for a second.
"You-you're a witch," I stuttered, standing still.
"Yes, a priestess princess to be exact,"
Priestess and witches (Mage) both practiced magic, controlled elements, and were really strong except, the priestesses have unique blood that enables them to practice all forms of magic without going crazy. In the witch covens, it is considered an honor to be picked as a priestess. "Wow," Is all I could say. I see why she was this beautiful now, priestesses were rumored to be strikingly beautiful too.
"Don't priestesses rehearse celibacy?" I asked, confused. I still couldn't believe I was in the presence of one and it overwhelmed me. Ansley giggled.
"It's a choice to practice chastity, it has its benefits,"
"What kind?"
"Their magic is stronger, they are wiser and knowledgeable and their intuition is higher than most," She explained.
"But then why are you forced to marry, you are one of the most powerful in the world,"
"My mother and the Wizard king had a vision when I was born, that I was fated to marry one of the mage princes for the greater interest of our people. The priestesses and Mage have lived separately for a long time, it's time we come together," She said. I was dumbstruck by all the information. I've only read about their kind in books and shifters never speak about them.
"Impressive," I murmured.
"Yes, and my great-grandmother is the moon goddess," She boasted with a smile. There was a story that long ago, the moon goddess fell in love with a wizard king, she took a human form and married him. They built a family and lived happily ever after. "You're full of surprises aren't you?" I said.
She waved her hand and a small ball of fire appeared on top of her palm, and then she did another trick and it turned into water.
"As a princess, I can control all elements but I can only do two," She sighed in disappointment. I parted her shoulder.
We reached the waterfront and sat on the rocks, and she continued to tell me about their lives. Their community is peaceful and beautiful, except they don't have advanced technology like us. A rustle in the bushes made us turn and a man appeared in sight. I was startled and stood up; however, the beautiful priestess was calm, watching the torrents.
"Prince Norman,"
