The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 201
Caliana's POV
"Prince Norman," She called, the man, Norman, politely acknowledged me with a nod. Ansley stood up and went to him. He smiled softly at her and stroked her long hair.
"How have you been?" His voice was gentle.
"I've been well. What brings you here?"
"I needed to discuss something with you and I missed you,"
I took this chance to look at Norman, he was good-looking, tall, and lean but one could tell that he works out. His aura was quite calm too. I started to walk away to give them privacy when I saw another man, I open my mouth to say something but he was in front of me within a second, his hand covering my lips and he dragged me away into the enclosed bushes. He was strong.
"Shh, I'm with him," He said in a deep baritone. I finally managed to pull myself from him and I eyed my attacker; he was built like Prince Norman but an inch taller with attractive golden eyes and jet-black hair, he was more handsome and had a bad guy vibe. "Are you the Prince's guard?" I asked.
"Yes, they can't know I'm here so shut up," I gasped at his rudeness. I blinked several times
"You don't tell me to shut up in my land," I growled.
"You've stayed here two days, now this place is yours?" He shook his head " Entitled priestesses," He mumbled and separated from me. I wanted to retort but he put a finger on his lips, telling me to not say a word. His eyes were stuck on Ansley, not the Prince he was supposed to be guarding.
"How is she?"
"Shouldn't you be more worried about your master? And ask her yourself!"
"I'm asking you. You are her lady in waiting," He sneered, this man was so rude, how was he the Prince's guard with such crude behavior? I sighed and found a place to sit and he tapped my shoulders.
"Did you not hear what I asked?" He tilted his neck to look at me now.
"I don't keep-you know what, she's fine," I answered with a little annoyance to my tone. We stayed there in silence as Prince Norman and Ansley talked. She seemed fond of him and was gentle too. Ansley started searching for me with her eyes, I stood up but she didn't see me still, did he put a barrier around us?
"They can't see or sense us because of the barrier I put," He informed me. The guard went past me and stood closer to Ansley, capturing every part of her in his mind and it hit me like a truck
"You like her!" I exclaimed and he shot me a deadly glare
"No, I don't," He refuted fast but his eyes said otherwise. Prince Norman pulled her hand and put a flower in her hair, she blushed at that and the guard was fuming with jealousy.
"The way you are glaring at your prince I'm afraid he will kill you when he realizes. You don't do a good job masking your emotions, do you?" I said, he only seemed annoyed with me. He backed away from the couple, and watched them with a frown, they were still discussing. As if just processing what I said, he turned to me.
"Norman, kill me? Never. I'm the strongest mage there is,"
The mage radiated confidence when he spoke about being a mage; it's another term for powerful spellcasters and they are levels.
"I didn't know you are as fast as vampires,"
"We are far better and stronger than vampires," He had an arrogant smile on his lips. It suited him.
"Remind me your name again?" I squinted my eyes.
"I didn't tell you,"
"Well, what's your name,"
"My name is unimportant," He dismissed with a wave of his hand.
"Is it true that she fell for a Lycan?" He didn't mention her name but I knew he was referring to Ansley.
"Unimportant," I snapped, looking away and what resembled a chuckle left his lips.
"Petty much, Priestess?"
I huffed and folded my arms on my chest. I can be petty, why would I give out information about Ansley when he won't even tell me his name?
"Well, that doesn't matter now. She will learn to love the prince, they do have a good relationship as I can see," He said, there was something behind his words that hurt. He did like her a lot.
"I'm sorry," I told him kindly. He gave me a condescending look and I continued " For not getting the woman you want,"
"I'm not vexed, I have many women,"
"But none are her," I said and slowly, he nodded his head. He had a yearning look in his eyes, I knew it well. The duo we were watching concluded their talk and Prince Norman kissed her cheek kindly, the guard's fists were clenched and I felt his aura for the first time, it was immense and powerful, red. I stepped back by instinct and blinked, but he was gone.
"Oh, there you are!" Ansley said, " Where did you go?"
I look back where we were and point but she raises her eyebrows. Prince Norman walks towards us and he nods
"Hello, Luna,"
"Hello, Prince Norman," I smiled. He inhaled and looked around.
"Who were you with?" He questioned.
"I was your guard, just over there," I answered and he growled in frustration.
"Damn, Kian," He mumbled and changed his mood into anger but soon smiled at Ansley. He is a mercurial man, I thought.
"I should leave now," He said and she bows respectfully and so does he. He kisses her forehead and just like the guard earlier, he vanishes through the trees.
The instant he left, Ansley let out a long sigh and sat on the ground. I sat next to her and stroked her hair.
"Are you okay?" She nodded with a soft smile and held her face with her hand.
"Who were you with again?"
"His guard," I shrugged. She raised her eyebrow at me.
"He came alone,"
My eyes bulged out " Then who was that," She shrugged.
"Maybe the king sent him to protect his son,"
Ansley sat straight and sniffed my clothes.
"You were with a Mage! A powerful mage, I can feel his aura still on you," She sniffed again and stayed close for a while. She enjoyed the scent.
"I love how you smell," She said in a dreamy tone.
"He was HOT too!" I informed her and she gasped, we laughed and decided to go back. On our way back we heard a ruckus and before I knew it, something collided with me and I felt excruciating pain all over my body.
