The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 202
Ansley's POV
I was surprised to see Prince Norman here. He looked as gorgeous as always. Prince Norman and I have been friends since I was ten years old. He always visited my castle and I did his. I liked him growing up but we withdrew from each other when he fell in love with another and I met Jamal. Seeing him here, all grown up, was a little overwhelming with emotions; however, my thoughts often drifted to his twin brother; Kian. Their features matched so much with only a few features to tell them apart. Kian and Norman are opposites, Norman is calm and unperturbed, gentle in all ways while Kian, the few times I have seen him, didn't talk to me for more than two minutes, he was always so cold but he made my heart race. He was tempting me. I shook my head and focused on the Prince in front of me. "When am I needed?" I dreaded going to their coven for a formal visit to talk about our alliance.
"In two weeks,"
"Is it crucial for me to go, mother will surely be there,"
"The covens need to meet you and aren't you curious at all to know who will be your husband?" He asked, only making me grunt. The king will be the one to choose his successor and whosoever he selects will be my groom.
"I'm dreading it," I told him and he held my hand, looking at me with those gentle eyes of his. Prince Norman was a good man and everyone spoke exemplary things about him but he seemed a bit fake to me, he tried so much to be liked by everyone. "I don't care honestly," I said, taking my hand back and looking around for Caliana, she left to give us privacy but I couldn't feel her aura.
"I'm sure father's choice will be influenced by your mother too, so put in a good word for me?" He said no sooner did he say that then I felt an overwhelming presence around. It could have been a guard who came with him but made himself invisible. Only the strongest of Mage can do that. I turned to the Prince and said; " I'm not getting involved, and besides, you are the popular candidate so you'll be picked," I shrugged, I studied his features, was the mage council questioning his capabilities as king? I wondered. The twins have always competed and they excelled in their training however, only one can be king.
"Just put in a nice word," He smiled. I wasn't going to do that, I wouldn't be involved.
"How's Kian?" I asked.
"He's the archmage, he reached his final level," He sighed, displeased. The archmage was the strongest wizard, their speed, agility, and strength were unmatched. Any weapon they shield turned to fire during a fight. "Good for him,"
"Arrogant prick," He mumbled and I chuckled.
"Gosh, will you ever be close?"
"No," He said.
We concluded our discussion soon and Caliana appeared. Norman bid us farewell and I fell to the ground, inhaling her scent. It was calm but we were soon disrupted when vampires surrounded us, they were snarling at us and showing us their sharp fangs. There were a dozen of them. I glanced at Caliana once, I could tell that she has never been in contact with them before, however, I have as we've been a target for a while that's why it's important to merge the covens to fight off this new attack.
"Get out if you don't want to die," I was assessing them, they were strong and I worried about Caliana, shifters are trained to fight but they weren't trained to kill vampires because they haven't been seen in decades. While I was still pondering, Caliana shifted into her gorgeous wolf and tackled two vampires at once and didn't waste any time biting into their flesh. I was dazed and almost forgot where we were as I watched her fight the men fiercely.
Three vampires jumped at me but I ducked and threw them against the tree with my power. They hissed and glared at me, approaching me again but I created a ball of fire and spit it on two of them, the fastest way to kill them. They weren't expecting this and backed away quickly but I continued throwing balls of fire in their direction, they couldn't even come close and when one did, I used my strength to punch and kick him away.
The vampires didn't expect to meet powerful resistance and the six that surrounded us were looking at each other unsure. Caliana clawed the one closest to her and bit his leg, he fell to the ground, and she dug her long claw into his chest, right in his heart, and ripped it out. I was smiling hard and adrenaline rushed through me as I fought them left and right. When I got bored, I threw sharp pieces of ice cutting them everywhere but they just weren't dying easily. Vampires were strong as well and their stamina was good. However, we had to end it quickly before we lost our energy in this. Caliana was fighting near the edge and it worried me so I raised the water and froze it so that she wouldn't roll over the cliff, soon we heard growls, and huge Lycans appeared. I recognize the one who tore a vampire I was fighting to shred. Jamal. His gaze was penetrating and emotions overwhelmed me, tears filled my eyes, how I missed him. Edward easily killed the vampires his mate was fighting and the rest were killed by Marcus and Garret. The huge Lycan bent down to nuzzle my neck, asking if I am okay. I smiled and caressed his fur;
"I'm alright, Jamal,"
"Who were they?" Asked Garret as he shifted back.
"Vampires?" Answered Marcus, confused.
"I mean why were they here? Attacking them, i***t,"
"I think they were here for me, their king awakened and is on a mission to get me," I sighed, this isn't the first time they've been this close. I felt terrible that I endangered Caliana too. I glimpsed at her, Edward stroking her fur but she was snarling and growling lowly at him. "Why do they want you?"
"Power. Mother took it from him when they locked him in his coffin and he wants it back hence using me as leverage," I finally told them. Jamal moved closer to me and I kissed him gently. "Don't worry, we'll deal with them," I assured them. Caliana shifted into her form and was standing naked, Edward growled possessively and tried to shield her body with his frame but she wasn't letting him. She was upset with him for some reason.
"Caliana, stop," He warned as he took off his shirt and threw it at her, she growled but put it on before coming to my side.
"Hey, are you alright?" She asked me.
"I am. I'm sorry for putting your life at risk,"
"How did they replace you here?"
"Vampire hunters are excellent at their job," They could have tracked me here through their hunters, unlike my coven, there are no barriers in Lycan territories so it would be easier.
"How does the vampire king have so many people already?" Caliana asked. I burnt the dead bodies of the vampires with a flicker of my wrist.
"I think they have been preparing for years and witches are their targets so you all are safe," I told them. The whole way to the manor, Jamal was next to me. Reaching the house, Caliana rushed upstairs, her Alpha mate following suit on her heels. "We have to talk," I told Jamal, and he nodded.
