Caliana's

POV

"You have a beautiful pack, Alpha," I complimented, I tensed when he came closer to me.

"You've been ignoring me the whole evening," He stated and stood next to him.

"We are not friends and we have nothing to talk about or do you want to kill me?" I said quizzically, he chuckled and drank his liquor.

"I'm not going to kill you," He finally decided.

"May I know why?"

"I'm sure you already do, seeing that you were a woman on a mission today," Embarrassment seeped into me realizing that he knew what I did to get the answers I needed.

"It was low but I'm a determined woman and end up using well, not noble methods," I giggled and he grinned. I stared deep into his eyes and they shone, his inner Lycan was close, it was strong. "Did you replace out anything interesting?" He asked.

"Just what you already know by now," He averted my gaze and I knew my hunch was right, how long did he know that his family was the one at fault?

"I would have told you what I learned if you came to meet me," He said. "My mother is unwell in the mind, that is why she pushed Jane to do that," He admitted.

"She was hurting but it doesn't make it right," I said and he concurred.

"What happened the day of the attack at the border?" I asked, wanting closure.

"Jane Anne came back home after Edward kicked her out, mother locked her in her room for days but one day, she managed to escape and went back however, the patrol couldn't let her through," He paused, taking a deep breath " Mother who was acting Alpha at that time, ordered an attack on the Chasias and while they were fighting, a notorious group of rogues ambushed them and my sister died,"

Deborah was liable for the death of her people, if she didn't order an attack, they wouldn't be vulnerable to rogues and her daughter was one of the casualties. After replaceing out the truth, Dean has no reason for war.

We kept silent for a long time before he spoke," I replace myself thinking about you more often than I wish," He confessed. I didn't know what to say to that. I pressed my lips in a thin line.

"Be with me," He whispered, scooting closer to me while I backed up.

"I have a mate, and I love him," I was quite sure of myself. "He doesn't love you," He stated and my heart hurt at that. "He will, love takes time," I was earnest and he tilted his head.

"I can make you happy," He said. I smiled and held his hands.

"I believe you can, and I want to be happy, but with Edward Chasia," I was convinced, I couldn't be with another after being with Edward, I was a goner, I was into it too deep and didn't see myself being with another, ever. I smiled at him and went back inside but I met Edward, his gaze held me in place, and an emotion I didn't know overpowered me and before I knew it, I was rushing toward him. I threw my arms around him. Edward's shoulders tensed and didn't hug me back, his chest was heaving. I lifted my gaze to him as I pulled back, I couldn't read his emotions.

"You lied to me," His voice was so soft that I took two steps away from him.

"What do you mean,"

"It was Dean, Dean Henderson. You kissed him that day in the woods, not the guard like you said," He sounded vulnerable but his gaze was cold, and my heart was beating out of my chest. My lips quivered and my whole body was shaking, I kept opening and closing my mouth because I couldn't produce any sound.

I swallowed thickly before I could utter the words from my heart

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to," I was crying now. I tried to cover my mouth with my hand and my sobs were drowned in the music. Edward didn't make a move, he was frozen where he was, he wasn't fuming with anger and just then, Dean came from the terrace to the stairs. My mate wasted no time charging at him. A scream left my lips when both of them fell over the railing from the second floor to the ground near the pool. The two were in their huge form, fighting fiercely. I stood there in shock.

'Let's go out, Liana screamed. However, I wasn't fast.

I felt drowsy and I staggered a bit. Why was I feeling this way now, did I have too much champagne? My vision was blurry. My legs couldn't support me but I dragged them closer and faster down to the first floor, using the railing for support. I managed to reach outside. I stormed right to the fighting Lycans but someone grabbed my hand tightly.

"You will die there," It was Dean's beta who was holding me. I fought against him but I wasn't strong enough to get out of his grip and the drowsiness I was feeling only intensified.
