Candace's POV

Being Luna is not as easy as I originally thought. I had to be nice to people I hated just not to blow my cover and I had to associate with those rogues who just worship Caliana; however, it was all worth it knowing that I'll be with Edward at the end of the day. Merabi entered my office to give me the budget for this month. I sighed in irritation, it's a good thing I mastered Caliana's signature. Took me a whole month to do that by the way.

I approved the budgets and signed the cheques that were to go to different departments.

By the time I finished all my work, I'm exhausted. Alpha Edward didn't call today, he's been distant lately, and has been having constant headaches and chest pains.

'You're not his mate, and if Caliana is out there, crying for him, he feels her pain,' My Lycan said. I was happier when she was quiet.

'No, Jon said her car slid off the road so assumed she died, so I'm safe,'

'You are such a fool, Caliana is part of this pack and if she was dead, they would feel it!' She shouted. How did I miss all this? I got my phone and dialed his number but I couldn't connect to him.

'You don't have the brains to do this, trust me,' She sighed with a roll of her eyes. No, I can do it. I had to.

Alpha Edward's inner beast will want to mate or at least have a conversation with mine and he will know that truth. I needed to come up with a plan.

'For now, just continue lock ing Ward out,' I told my Lycan.

I received a lot of emails from three Lunas, Kelly, Hope, and Carol. They wanted us to hang out. These were shifters of hierarchy and have always treated me like dirt but now that I'm Caliana, we are equal, heck I'm their superior because of Alpha Edward's higher status. I accepted their invitation and opened my schedule.

I decided to knock off early but as I got in the car, a tall man approached me. He was handsome with brown hair and nice eyes, from his aura, I could tell he was an Alpha. He was smiling at me and I was just standing there with a vague smile on my lips. He must be one of the people Caliana associated with.

"How about hello Michael, good to see you, and thank you for the vaccines," The Alpha said, so his name is Alpha, Michael. I smiled and went to him,

"Hello Michael, how are you?" I said fondly, from the looks of it, he and Caliana had some sort of relationship. I didn't want to be too friendly or hostile either. f**k, this was getting difficult by the day.

"I'm alright, thank you," He gestured for me to walk with him and I nodded. We strolled through the pedestrian lane before he spoke,

"I received your email, and of course, you can supply my pack, but only a certain bag of wheat because we are in a contract with another pack," He said. I had no f*****g idea what he was talking about but I nodded with a smile. "Thank you, Michael,"

"Also I heard your beta is looking for clients, I thought it should be a cup of tea since Alpha Edward can get you those no problem, or you can just supply here," He shrugged. I inhaled. It must have something to do with Caliana being the new Alpha of the Dandelion pack, I saw some documents that show it.

"I want to do this by myself and can you please not tell Edward that I emailed you about that matter?" I asked sweetly, he looked at me and sighed,

"You know I could never resist you," He said. We discussed for a while longer before he escorted me back to my car. That was close, I'm happy Michael came to me instead of Edward. It wasn't a good day for me because just as I was about to get into the car again, a voice I know well called me, it was my ex-best friend, Pink. Was she and Caliana on good terms? Of course, she did save her life. I smiled at her

"Pink? Look at you in black, not your color by the way," I said and she squinted her eyes. I laughed away the awkwardness and I was surprised that she gave me a quick hug, f*****g traitor.

"How have you been?"

"I've been well, Pink, and you?"

"I'm alright," She frowned, she got like this when she wanted to talk about something.

"What is it, hun?"

"I don't know if I should tell you or not," She said, looking around. I encouraged her too of course, and I was fuming in anger hearing what she said,

"June mentioned to me in confidence that Candace wanted to seek out a dark witch to make the Alpha fall for her,"

How can these bitches betray me like this after everything I did for them. "Well, I'm sure she was just bluffing and didn't go through with that," I assured her

"Shouldn't we worry that she has just disappeared without a trace? Even her aunt doesn't know her whereabouts," She whispered.

"I'm sure she'll be back and trust me, that woman is harmless, she's all talk no bite," I said, I glanced at the wristwatch.

"Alright, I have to run now, please visit the manor soon," I said and got into the car before anyone could stop me again. My phone was buzzing and I turned it off, it was Garret calling me to tell me about the evening training session. I tried not to interact with them until I mastered being Caliana. I was surprised to see some servants outside, decorating for a party and I closed my eyes momentarily remembering it was the day Love is coming from the camp, four weeks seemed so short.
