POV

A month, a whole month has gone by since I've been here and I thought I'd heal by now but no, I was broken as I was the first day. I don't feel the pain of my mate's betrayal as much as I used to and it was a relief.

My stay at the Grey Lycan Pack has not been too eventful. I rarely leave the house, and when I do, I take strolls by the lake with Tristin, Blanco, or Pauline, my attending omega, she's as lovely as a peach.

I was sitting by the window, reading a novel as Alpha Blanco played the soft piano for me like he usually does. I tried shutting him off for the whole month he's been here but he was persistent and I just let him be a friend to me. He visits me almost every evening and we'll dine together, or just talk. If not, he'll play the piano for me as I like, his music calms me. He never got tired of being kind to me. Pauline told me that his lovers are jealous of me because their master doesn't pay them any attention.

"How do you manage to handle so many ladies, don't they get into fights?" I asked, curious. I saw the ladies once in the garden, drinking tea and chatting. I must say, I was impressed, they are all extremely beautiful and elegant in all senses of the word. "It's complicated but it works," He said, leaving his station to sit next to me.

"What made you do this?" I was curious about this harem of his. What's even more surprising is that all the ladies loved it, and had no intentions of leaving.

"I've always liked beautiful women, and I had a charm about me that made me irresistible, I guess,"

"What about your mate?"

"Salome?" He grimaced.

"She hated my harem, and when we met, she was madly in love with some doctor, can you imagine, a doctor!" "So you didn't claim her?"

"No, she didn't want to be claimed, plus, she hated my harem," He said, Blanco had a faraway look in his eyes. "But you have a son,"

"That's the only way CC and the elders would leave us alone, my heir needed to come from my true mate to keep my bloodline strong," Pups born from true mates are stronger than those born from chosen ones.

"So, we both agreed to birth a child and later break the bond,"

It must have been tough for the parties involved at the moment. Hurt crossed his features but it was gone soon. He was hurt that her heart belonged to another. I held his hand as a way to comfort him since I knew he wouldn't admit that he was hurting. "Would you have shut the harem if she asked you to be with her?" I asked softly, it took him a long time to answer.

"Maybe, yeah, I liked her at first sight, she was my soulmate after all," He said, his voice vulnerable.

"I'm sorry, Blanco,"

"Well, everything worked out for the better. I have a strong heir like the elders wanted and I'm living my best life with many captivating women," His arrogant face was back and I rolled my eyes. Why don't men ever want to show their real emotions? "Speaking of children, it's been a month since I've been here yet I haven't met your son. Are you hiding him from me?" I gave him a critical stare and he smiled softly

"He's at camp, but he will be back tomorrow evening," He informed me and I nodded.

I yawned and he stood, getting my book away and lifting me,

"I can walk!" I protested but he did not attempt to put me down until we reached my bedroom. He removed the sheets and put me on the bed, Blanco tucked me in like a child and kissed my forehead.

"Sleep well, little Cali," I groaned when he called me that. "We might not see each other for the next few days as I'll be traveling, also you're not popular amongst my ladies so you'll do well to avoid them," He warned, and elongated my claws.

"I think I can defend myself just fine from those snobby princesses of yours," I hissed.

"I'm worried for them," He winked and kissed my forehead again before turning off the lights and exiting the room. I closed my eyes when he left.

The next day I woke up bright and early because I had work to do with Levy. We are looking for investors and companies to supply our products to but most of the packs already have companies that supply to them and our old customers don't want to do business with us after Vince betrayed their trust and misused their money.

We spent half of the morning working and I didn't even realize when my omega servant, Pauline, walked in.

I shut my eyes as I felt a slightly painful sensation down my body, I clenched my desk tightly and waited it out, and soon, it vanished. I inhaled and exhaled. My hands flew to my stomach but all was well.

"Miss, are you alright?" Asked Pauline. I glared at her for the use of Miss after I told her not to use it.

"I meant, Caliana,"

"I'm fine, it was just my f*****g cruel mate f*****g his b***h, I see he doesn't last longer than five minutes," I murmured through gritted teeth. She gave me a sympathetic stare but I shook my head, I hated that look, it made me feel weak. "I wonder why he doesn't last long," She chuckled.

"I'm hungry, can you check if the chef has prepared something for us today, no baby marrows please, or Kale, I hate that," I said and she smiled warmly at me.

"Food is ready and I was coming to call you," She said and I was more than happy to leave the study room. She served me food and I slowly ate, she was watching me. "Out with it,"

"Forgive for saying this again, but nothing makes sense,"

"Whatever are you talking about, Pauline,"

"Your mate hasn't rejected you and you didn't speak to him at all," She said, this girl was truly persistent. She has this narrative in her head that someone planned all this.

"Edward threatened my pack. He warned me to stay away from him and his daughter, knowing how much I loved them,"

"But Caliana, I think someone is doing this to you, no one changes overnight and stops being in love, so all of a sudden, he decided he is still in love with his ex b***h wife and f***s his b***h to prove it?" I regretted telling her what happened. "Alpha Edward is cruel and will do just that. He wasn't in love with me, maybe he was just toying with my emotions," I growled.

"Then why hasn't he formally rejected you, yet?"
