The Lycan's Soul Mate -
Chapter 10 Under Scruitiny
A few days had passed, and Luna had been going to school andoccupied herself with being a normal teenage girl. Soccorah had beenher only good friend for the time being. It's not that other people didn'twant to be friends with her but in light of her change she just wantedto play it safe. She didn't want to get close to anyone only to havethem start making fun of her again like what happened in the past.Lucian the Gym teacher had been keeping a close eye on Luna but haddecided to keep his distance so as to not draw too much attention tohimself or for fear that she would get spooked and tell her parents. Hedidn’t want to lose her again now that he had finally found her. Nowwith the full moon on its eve he was especially careful as his wolfwanted out and he felt powerful. He had decided to chain himself up inhis basement and wait out the decent of the moon so as to not go intothe woods. He had been keeping an eye on Luna to see whether withthe advent of the moon she presented any other changes, but she hadseemed normal and Lucian thought that the spell that Luna’s motherhad cast must have been a very powerful one to keep her abilitiessuppressed for this long however, he was wrong.
Luna had been struggling. She'd had some bouts of rage but luckily ithad not happened at school. It did not serve her well at home as herparents had thought her rebellious and were anything but forgivingand had taken away what little freedom she had left. She had keptblowing off Soccorah’s invites to her house but had finally decided tobe disobedient and go to her house tonight. She smiled as she thoughtof it but she was also nervous like hell. She had never disobeyed herparents. But she was 17 years old and was sick of being treated like achild.
Soccorah had come to school herself today. Luca did not go to schooltoday as he was still indecisive as to whether he would go back hometo wait out the transformation or stay and have a run in the woods.Soccorah would have some alone time to practice some spells thatshe'd been dying to and now that the house would be empty it couldn'tbe more perfect if he did leave however, she would know when shegets home. The full moon does amplify her family’s ability to practicemagic.
As she walked down the hall deep in thought she slammed into Lunaand the two of them both stunned apologized to each other andheaded to class. “Soccorah, have you been going over the notes thatI've been sending you?” Luna asked trying to make conversation. “Yeah, but I was kinda hoping that you would take me up on my invitation andcome over to my house sometime.” Soccorah answered. “It's not as ifmy family are serial killers or anything.”
Luna felt bad that her only friend had thought that she had not comeover to help her after she practically offered to help because shethought that Luna was afraid. In fact, coward was not even in hervocabulary. Luna was so saddened that she asked for permission tocome over that very night however Soccorah had made plans to havethe house all to herself so she rescheduled the invitation. “Oh no. I'm soso sorry but you can't come tonight because we have a family thing.”She lied. Oh, how she wanted to have Luna over but with the moonbeing full this was her chance to practice those spells and she couldn'trisk Luna replaceing out about their secret. “let's reschedule maybesometime next week?” Soccorah told Luna. “Ok then; catch you later”she shouted as she made her way out the door.
She made her way to the empty Gym to try testing herself again as itwas empty and there was no one in sight. She grabbed hold of the ropeand began her ascent. It was as if she had been climbing her whole life.It was so effortless. Luna could not understand when and how thosechanges came around. She got to the top of the rope and held on withher left hand and looked down at the Gym.
She heard the gym door open and as the noise startled her, she jumpeddown the 15-foot rope landing on her hands and feet as if ready topounce. Lucian looked at Luna surprised at what just happened.Actually, he was very impressed but could not show it. “What the hell? Are you ok? How did you do that?" he blurted out all at once. He reallydidn’t want it to come out this way but clearly, she didn't know whatwas happening to her and someone had to help her understand howdangerous it would be if humans found out about us. He felt so sorrythat she had grown up with no one to teach her about her true self, that she was still living in the dark, confused. The thought started toanger Lucian so he left the Gym to calm himself in his office.
Luna, startled at what just happened grabbed her bag and ran out ofthe Gym. She ran and ran until she found herself halfway up themountain in the wood behind the school. “Everyone is going to look atme like a freak again. Oh my god. What have I done? I can't go home. What if coach told someone? No one would believe him. Afterall thiswas not normal. They would think that he was crazy.” She told herselfout loud.
Looking at her phone she realized that it was time to go home. Gettingon her parent's bad side was not in her plans tonight. She grabbed herstuff and hurried home. She started to run and to her surprise she lovedit. She felt the wind on her cheeks and the coolness of it on her skin, she felt it's strength as it took lifted her hair off her body as he ran. Shegot home in under 5 minutes which was startling as she'd ran 10 miles. When she got home, she found her parents seated at the table. “What'swrong guys?” Luna said but stopped dead in her tracks as she looked atthe dark-haired, well-built man seated in her father's chair next to thewindow. Her knees trembled and her eyes widened as she stared at hergym teacher seated in her house.
