Chapter 32 The Great Betrayal

It was the twilight of the following day when Lydia had given herdaughter Nina some old herbs to give to luca to finish him off. She haddecided that the only person who could identify Nina was Luca and ifso then she would have to keep that from happening. She had to getrid of Luca at all costs and she didn't mind using her daughter to do it.She had told her of how important it was to them to get the sacredplant. With it in their control they would be able to harness thegoddess’ power and reign over the wolves.

Nina had come to realize that Luca didn't want her nor did he love her.When she thought that she was special to him he“d only been using hertill his real mate came along. She had no one to blame but herself.She'd been warned and instructed not to get side tracked. She wascautioned about the Lycan’s strengths and their ability to make womenfall at their feet. She knew all too well as she had been privy to heradopted father's escapades.

Her adopted mother was not his mate. His true mate had fallen inbattle and the two were more like companions so she didn't really havea problem with his flings. She however had been approached by hermother Lydia. Lydia had taught her how to use her gifts and how tohate the Lycans. She didn't like them but she grew to love Luca. Clearlyit was not a true love as she used him to get what she wanted.

Now that she knew that he didn’t want her then she could care lesswhat became of him. She had secretly hoped that she would be his wifeand sit on the throne and corrupt him from there but this was clearlynot going to happen. She was sure of it now more than ever. She hadto keep giving him the potion just to keep him interested and lookwhat happened. The two sat almost defeated and that was when Ninatold her mother that she knew where the tree was but didn't have a keyto that garden. She had tried to replace out about it but Luca wouldn't letanything go. He has always been so damn loyal to his responsibilities.She set off to the house and crept into Lucas’ room. She knew her wayaround the palace as she had practically lived there. She had to get ridof Luca not just for herself but her coven. He could not recover to giveher away. She had snuck into his room so many times to fuck and heloved it. Everything was going so well that she'd let her guard downand look where she ended up. Defeated by that little white-hairedbitch. It had to be her that had Luca resisting her even while under thespell. “Damn her!” she thought to herself as she entered the room.

She had just placed the herbs in Luca's mouth when one of the guardswalked in. Startled she pelted a poisoned dagger stabbing him in thechest rendering him useless. Luna had ben two doors down when shesaw the guard fall and entered the room. Seeing Nina over Luca tryingto have him ingest the herms She transformed and attacked Nina.She'd almost ripped her to shreds when she was forced to return to herhuman form. Nina had scratched her with some herbs which renderedher so weak. She growled a powerful growl which the Lucian heard andupon seeing his niece lying on the floor he followed Nina. He caught upto her and dragged her back to the palace.

Lydia who had gotten some leaves from the sacred plant had scurriedaway when she heard the commotion and saw her daughter beingtaken to the palace by Lucian. “Damn that wolf. He will pay for this withhis life. I will end his line once and for all.” She knew that she cold nothelp her daughter but at least she got a few leaves. Just enough for thepotion that they needed to set their plan in motion.

Lucian put Luna to lay down on the bed next to Luca and the Alphaprince took them to the sacred plant in the garden upon the request ofthe tribe seer and healer. They had realized that the garden had beenpenetrated by magic and so a council meeting was called. Lucianremained with his daughter until they were both awake. They werehowever still very weak. The plant had healing qualities and wasremarkable. The healer said that the poison that they were given shouldhave killed them both yet still because of their strong spirits and thepotence of the sacred plant they had been spared from the clutches ofdeath.

The meeting conveyed to replace out what Nina Knew and how to dealwith her. Her adopted parents were beside themselves and asked to beexcused from the proceedings. They had asked to deal with her as thecounsel saw it fit as they had renounced her as a child of theirs. Themeeting conveyed and Nina was put on the stand and allowed to pleadher case and explain however she showed no remorse and told themhow her mother and coven was going to be the end of them.

Knowing now that the plant had been compromised and that Nina hadtried to kill his son and Luna the judgement was death by the hunt. Shewas released and hunted by the Lucas packmates. She was ripped toshreds and her remains were burned. The wolves growled withcontentment that she was killed for what she had done.
