Chapter 33 The Sacred Plant

The council were gathered once again to try to understand what thewitches wanted with the sacred plant. It was the last of its kind and thatis why it was so protected in that part of the garden. They hadconcluded that Luna's pack had been targeted when the witchesthought that they were in possession of the sacred plant andunfortunately Luna's parents were set up and put to take the fall fortheir mistake.

What could they want with the plant and how did they know that theplant was with the full moon pack and let alone the location of theplant? Only the king and his government were privy to that informationand still no one knew of the ability of the plant. They wonderedwhether the witches knew something that they did not. One thing wasfor sure. They had tried to kill Luca and Luna and this was not going togo unpunished.

Lucian stepped forward and spoke. “I think that whoever is behind whatis happening here is connected to what happened in my pack all thoseyears ago. It looks like they have been trying to replace this plant for quitesome time and have been infiltrating packs to do so. Unfortunately, myfamily fell to their tactics and today I almost lost my niece again. Weneed to go to this place I will try to catch a scent and haunt down thisperson.”

“I completely agree. I will not stand by and have our entire race bethreatened by lowly witches. My son was almost killed today. I will notstand for this” Lucas’ Father shouted with fury. His eyes turned orangeas if on fire. Something that barely happened. He roared with angerand then settled as the meeting continued. “Luca is the best tracker wehave but he is still resting. I propose we wait until the morning and takehim to the plant to try to get a scent. Once he has it, he will not lose it.We will replace those responsible and eradicate this threat as we havedone to all those who have tried to destroy us. We are Lycan;descendants of the gods an we will not be defeated” the Lycan kingroared. And when he did it sent chills down the spines of all who stoodin his presence. It was unusual coming from someone of his age butthen again, he was the Lycan King for a reason. His bloodline was nottainted. He was all powerful and had stepped down to let his son rulebut now that this threat was imminent, he stepped in to fight ifnecessary.

“We need to know what they want with the plant. I thought that itsexistence was only known to our kind. This plant has existed since thegoddess first made werewolves and it has always served us well.” Whynow would the witches want to use it to harm us?” Luca's father asked“Long ago when only the gods existed the sisters Hecate, Artemis andSelene played in the sacred garden and found a plant. When Hecatetouched the plant, it turned to poison and killed her sister. Selene wasbeside herself with grief and held the plant to also die as she was soclose to her sister but instead the plant brought back her sister.Realizing how dangerous the plant was she took it and flew down toearth and placed it in the care of her descendants the Lycans. In theirhands it healed. We have kept it safe for a millennium. This is all I know.No one knows what the witches want with it but if in the hands ofSelene, it became a healing plant then What do you think will happen ifthe servants of Hecate get their hands on it? Ancestors have tried todestroy the plant but their efforts were in vain. We cannot destroy it sowe need to eradicate the forces who try to use it for evil.” The elderrevealed

“Then we should not leave the plant unguarded. We need to take turnsto guard it until we can get rid of the threat may the goddess be withus and grant us success in this crucial time.” Luca's father said. “I willtake the first watch with Lucian. Father you rest and send the betas towatch luca and Luna. The moon will be full in two days by then weshould be able to use the wolves as well in this fight.” They all agreed,bowed down to the alphas and left to fulfil their duties. Lucian thoughtof nothing but bringing those witches to an end. They went straight tothe garden and he saw the plant for the first time. He realized that itwas missing a branch and that was when they realized that it had beencompromised.

As they sat luca emerged and told his father that he had caught a scentoff Nina and that it was the same one that led him here. “I had to followit. I was just too weak but I'm feeling stronger. I can follow it.” His fatherwas happy to see him awake but urged him to rest as in the morning atfirst light they would leave to track this person. He seemed confusedbut followed his father's command.

“How is Luna doing?” he asked as he could not contain himself m. Hewas very worried about her. So much had happened. He had missedher at the ball. Everything had gone wrong. He could have chosen herin the presence of everyone but was so busy missing her and beingunconcerned about his responsibilities that all hell broke loose. She gothurt twice by him and still she tried to save him

He wanted everything to be normal again. He wanted to just finishschool and take up his responsibilities hopefully with her by his side.“Luna will be fine. Like you she just needs to rest.” Lucian answered.With a smile. “Your concern is very touching.” He told luca. “Now getsome rest so that if you are strong enough you will accompany us inthe morning.
