Chapter 38

Alpha Colton POV

I was sitting in my office doing some paperwork. I had a lot to catch up on, since I’ve been spending most of my time with Jess.

It’s been two days since we rescued Beth, she’s still in the hospital recovering and Jess has been with her the majority of the time. She’s been so happy since I brought her mom back, I just love seeing her smiling again.

I heard from Alpha Peter, that Alpha Ryan has gone off the rails trying to figure out who dared to enter his territory and take one of his prisoners. He hasn’t contacted me directly, which doesn’t surprise me. The last time we saw each other, it wasn’t a friendly encounter. I know it’s only a matter of time, before he comes looking for Beth and Jess.

When I heard the reason why Beth casted the spell on Jess, my b***d was boiling. Hector wanted to go back and kill Alpha Ryan, for what he did to Jess. We really want to see him pay, but I think we need to be patience. We will make him pay, when the time is right.

I was brought out of my thoughts, when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I announced.

The door opened and Josh walked in, before sitting across from me.

“Alpha, Sam and Jess asked if I would take them to the City. They want to get a few belongings from their old apartment and Sam wants to give her boss a heads up at work. What do you think?” Josh asked and I could see the concern on his face.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Alpha Ryan is on a war path right now, ever since we rescue Beth.” I replied, with a frown.

“Ya that’s what I said, but Sam has some personal sentimental stuff that she really wants to get, before the landlord throws everything out. They haven’t paid this months rent, so she thinks he will sell everything that’s left there.” Josh said, seeming torn between pleasing his mate and keeping her safe.

I know it’s tough for him, he wants to make his mate happy and knowing Sam, she’s probably been pushing the matter.

“Ok. I’ll come with you guys, but make sure Sam knows this is a quick trip there and back, that’s it. We aren’t making any other stops.” I replied sternly.

“Yes Alpha.” Josh said and I could see the relief in his face.

“We will leave in an hour, I have a few more things I need to finish up, then we can go.” I added.

“Ok, I’ll go tell the girl.” Josh replied, before standing up from his chair and leaving my office.

I let out a sigh, I have so much work to do, but I would feel better if I was there with them. When we brought the girl to my territory, we only packed a few change of clothes for them, so I get why they want to go back.

I was finishing up some of the paper work that needed my attention, when the phone started to ring.

“Alpha Colton speaking.” I picked it up and greeted.

“Alpha Colton, it’s Alpha Philip, I need to speak with you.” I heard Alpha Philip’s voice. I let out an irritated sigh, Heather’s father was the last person I was in the mood to speak with right now.

“How can I help you, Alpha Philip?” I asked, in a serious tone. I was dreading this conversation, goddess knows what Heather told him.

“Heather hasn’t been the same since you sent her home. She’s miserable and won’t leave her room. Can I persuade you to reconsider? She would be a good Lun…” Alpha Philip started to say and I cut him off.

“I’m sorry she’s not taking this well, but I won’t be changing my mind. She’s not my mate and I’ve decided not to take a chosen mate, if I don’t replace my fated mate, I’ll rule on my own.” I replied sternly.

“I’m disappointed that you would go back on your word, Alpha. We use to have a good working relationship between us. Unfortunately, you leave me no choice, but to cut ties with your pack.” Alpha Philip said.

“I’m also sorry, but my decision is final. I wish you would reconsider your position regarding our alliance.” I replied, with a frown. I don’t need his pack, but I would prefer there not to be any animosity between us. This could become problematic.

“If you aren’t going to reconsider taking my daughter as your Luna, then I won’t be reconsidering my stance on our alliance. Good day.” Alpha Philip said and the phone disconnected.

I sure hope Heather and her father don’t become a problem. I know Heather can be vindictive, I hope her father is more level headed. I guess time will tell.

I got up from my chair and left my office. It’s time to take Sam and Jess to the City.

I walked out the front doors of the pack house and Josh, Sam and Jess, were all standing by one of our Black SUV’s waiting for me.

I instantly smiled when I saw Jess, she looked so happy. She was wearing faded jeans and an off the shoulder dark pink top. It really suited her and made her beautiful emerald eyes pop.

“Ladies, are you ready to go?” I asked, drawing their attention to me. I saw a huge smile spread across Jess’s face, when her eyes met mine.

“Yes, I can’t wait to see the City, It’s been forever.” Sam said excitedly.

“Just remember, this is a quick visit to get a few belongings, so when we get there, I expect you guys to be quick.” I said sternly, while glancing between the two ladies. My eyes spent extra time on Sam, since out of the two of them, she’s the more difficult one.

“Yes boss” Sam replied sarcastically, while saluting me.

That woman, how does Josh put up with her? Ah that’s right, he’s the same person as her, only he has a p***s, I thought and chuckled to myself.

We piled into the the vehicle, Josh was driving, Sam sat beside him, Jess and I got into the backseat together.

We started to drive, it only takes about an hour to reach the City and I really don’t mind since I get to spend it next to Jess.

“How’s your mother doing?” I asked, while glancing over at Jess.

“She’s doing much better. She’s sleeping a lot, but the doctor said that it was normal. He has her on a crazy meal plan, where she’s eating like 8 times a day.” Jess said, while shaking her head in disbelief.

“That’s normal, I’m sure it’s small meals. Her body has been deprived for so long, that she can only eat a little at a time.” I replied.

“That’s true, I can’t wait for her to gain her strength back. It would be nice for her to undue the spell, but I also can’t wait to start a normal relationship with her. I just love her so much, even if I don’t remember anything.” Jess said, while glancing up at me with a genuine smile on her face.

I couldn’t hold back anymore, I put my hand down on the seat beside me, intentionally brushing it against Jess’s hand that was already there. I wanted to see how she would react.

She had a surprised look on her face, before looked down at our hands that were touching. She didn’t pull away, so I brushed my fingers along the top of hers and felt her shiver in response.

I flipped her hand over and slid my fingers in between hers, before wrapping her tiny hand in mine. She glanced up at me with a curious look, but didn’t say anything. I held her hand for the rest of the drive, brushing my thumb along her skin.

She didn’t say another word the entire drive. She just kept glancing over at me, with adoration and desire in her eyes. I really do hope things settle down, so I can have some alone time with Jess and get to know her.

We reached the City and stopped at the hospital first. Sam wanted to go in and talk with her boss. She has been calling in sick, since she arrive on my territory. She’s decided to quit and start working at the pack hospital. Honestly i was glad, we could use more hands in the hospital to help the doctors.

“I’m coming with you.” Josh said firmly. Sam rolled her eyes at her protective mate, but didn’t argue.

“We’ll be right back.” Josh said, as they both got out of the vehicle and disappeared inside the building.

I turned my attention back to Jess, her eyes were already on me.

“Thank you, for coming with us.” Jess said, with a small smile.

“It’s my pleasure. I don’t want anything happening to you. I know Alpha Ryan is furious that Beth escaped his grasp and probably has men all over the City looking for you two.” I replied truthfully.

She didn’t say anything, but I could tell she wanted to. Her eyes kept meeting mine and then she would look away shyly. She bit her bottom l*p and it drove me crazy with desire, I couldn’t look away from the her perfectly plump lips. The need to k**s her was growing strong.

“Stop that.” I growled out. She looked at me with a surprised look.

“What?” She asked in a soft voice.

“Biting your l*p. It’s making me crave you.” I said, in a low voice, while my eyes remained on her lips.

“Oh…” she said and bit her bottom l*p again, with a very slight mischievous smile. A growl left my chest. This woman is trouble, I can’t think straight when I’m around her.

I reach over and picked her up, before setting her down on my lap. She yelped at the action, but a light giggle followed.

My lips met hers and I kissed her passionately, completely forgetting our surroundings. She kissed me back with equal need and desire. Her mouth opened and I deepened the k**s. I ran my fingers through her hair and along her neck. A soft m**n left her lips and I could smell her arousal.

“Wow, Mr. Grumpy finally made a move.” I heard Sam say, bringing me out of my haze.

I pulled away for the k**s and saw Sam looking back at us from the passenger seat, with a huge grin on her face. Josh was just getting into the driver seat.

“You guys didn’t waste anytime, we left for 5 minutes and it already smells like a brothel in here.” Josh said, while scrunching his nose.

Jess blushed with embarrassment, as she scooted back over to her seat.

“Just shut up and drive.” I barked, feeling frustrated that they interrupted us. Why couldn’t they have taken longer inside the hospital?

Goddess I didn’t want that k**s to end.
