The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 45

Alpha Colton POV

We made it onto Alpha Ryan’s territory, easily. We didn’t even come across any patrol members. That had me on high alert. What’s going on? Was Alpha Ryan expecting us? Are we walking into a trap?

I was brought out of my thoughts, when we reached the tree line and I could see all the way to the pack house. In front of the building, stood Alpha Ryan with a bunch of his men, likely the warriors that should of been on patrol. That’s probably how we got in so easily.

What had my b***d boiling, was when I noticed Jess kneeling on the ground in front of Alpha Ryan, without a shirt on. Alpha Ryan was standing behind her holding a belt in his hand. I could see her body physically trembling, even though I was still a fair distance away.

When we had reached the territory border, my warriors and I had shifted back into our human forms, but now, Hector was going berserk seeing Jess in such a vulnerable position. He was fighting for control and it was probably the biggest fight I’ve ever had with him. He forced a partial shift, I could feel the fur sprouting from my arms and neck, my claws had ripped through my nails and my canines descended.

I was about to lose the fight against my wolf, when I saw Beth lung forward, she was ready to attack. She had seen what I did and it had her vibrating with pure and savage rage. Lucky for me, it was a distraction and I was able to take back control from my wolf. I stopped Beth, before she made it out of the tree line. She practically growled at me, when I grabbed ahold of her.

“I won’t let him hurt her. I promise, just trust me” I whispered to Beth, as I held onto both her arms.

Her eyes were glowing, like they seem to do when she uses magic. It was mesmerizing and scary all at the same time. I’ve seen what she’s capable of, I hate for her to turn on me in a moment of blind rage.

“I love your daughter. I would die before I let him hurt her, please trust me.” I pleaded.

Beth’s eyes stopped glowing when she processed my words and I felt her relax in my hold. She was looking into my eyes and I knew she was trying to replace any signs of deceit, but I wasn’t lying. How else could I explain my need to save and be with Jess. I’ve been dying inside ever since she was taken from me and she’s been the only thing I’ve been able to think about. I know I haven’t been the smartest, when it comes to my feelings for Jess, but that’s all going to change when I get her back.

“I do.” Beth finally replied. Her eyebrows were furrowed and I could tell she was surprised with her own answer. They’ve been through so much, I don’t blame her for having her guard up.

I was about to say something else to Beth, when I heard Alpha Ryan speak.

“Now, you were each going to get 10 lashes, but since your taking her punishment, you’ll be get…” he said and that was it. Like hell, I’m going to let him hurt my girl.

“Like hell I’m going to let you whip her!” I shouted, in a deep and threatening tone. Everyone turned their attention to me.

All of Alpha Ryan’s men had lowered their head in submission, when they were hit with my strong and powerful Alpha aura. Alpha Ryan initially had a shocked expression on his face, but quickly hid it with a smirk.

“I was wondering when you would come looking for Jess. I see you brought back my prisoner.” Alpha Ryan mused, while nodding towards Beth.

Beth, went on the defence mode and was about to attack. I lifted my arm, stopping her from going after him. I couldn’t risk her getting hurt, Jess would never forgive me.

“You’re not getting her back, but we are taking these two home with us.” I gritted out, while motioning with my chin towards Sam and Jess. Jess was still kneeling on the ground. I wanted to run to her, but I needed to play my cards right. Soon she’ll be in the safety of my arms.

Alpha Ryan let out a loud dry chuckle.

“You will start a war over one she-wolf?” He asked, with a dangerous smirk on his face. I could tell that he was thrilled at the idea. I didn’t bother answering his question. The answer was simple, yes.

“I, Alpha Colton, of the Fort Night Pack, challenge you, Alpha Ryan, of the Cold Stone pack, to a fight for power.” I announced loudly, making sure everyone heard my challenge. When an Alpha is challenged, they can’t refuse or it’s an automatic loss. This type of challenge doesn’t happen often, it’s ultimately a fight till death. The winner walks away with the others title and assets, including the pack and territory.

There were several gasps amongst both my men and Alpha Ryan’s men. I saw fear flash across Alpha Ryan’s face, before he quickly hid it with a cold and emotionless expression.

“You dare enter my territory and challenge me?! Very well Alpha Colton.” Alpha Ryan spat out, with venom in his words.

“I, Alpha Ryan, of the Cold Stone Pack, accept your challenge, Alpha Colton.” He continued and I could see the dangerous glint in his eyes. He didn’t want to fight me, but I backed him into a corner by challenging him in front of everyone. I had to be careful, I knew he likely won’t fight fair.

“Don’t do it.” I heard Jess’s soft voice plead. I looked over to replace her now standing with her arm across her chest, trying to hide her breasts from the unwanted gazes.

“See Alpha, even Jess seems smarter than you right now. You sure you don’t want to reconsider and leave, before I end your life?” Alpha Ryan taunted, pulling my attention back towards him.

“My challenge stands.” I gritted out.

“Very well, let’s go over the rules. The fight isn’t over, until one of us is dead. That’s it, one simple rule. The winner walks away with everything the other possesses, including title, pack and territory.” Alpha Ryan announced and I simply nodded. There was no way I would allow him to win this fight. Everything is at stake here, not just Jess and Sam, but my entire pack.

My warriors and Alpha Ryan’s formed a circle around us. I watched, as Beth and Josh ran over to Sam and Jess. I was relieved to see Jess had managed to put her shirt back on and wasn’t exposed to everyone anymore. Jess was hugging her mother so tightly, it made me internally smile seeing the relief in her face. It was short live though, when she pulled away from the hug, her eyes turned to me and I saw the fear and concern in them. She was worried for my well-being and I didn’t want to cause her anymore pain, but I needed to do this. This was the only way to settle this, without a full on war.

“On your mark, get set, go!” One of Alpha Ryan’s warriors announced.

I was so focus on Jess, I didn’t see Alpha Ryan attacking me. It was a dirty move, he knew I wasn’t expecting the fight to start so abruptly and he took advance of my distract state.

I was knocked to the ground, with Alpha Ryan landing on top of me. He partial shifted, by extending his claws, before slashing them along my chest, leaving long deep gashes. I grunted, but the pain only fuelled my anger.

I punched him in the face, causing him to fall off me. I quickly got back onto my feet and got into a defensive stance. Alpha Ryan stood up as well, I could see the rage in his eyes. He quickly shifted into his wolf. His wolf is brown, it’s not as big as mine, but still bigger than the average wolf.

I was a little surprised that he shifted so fast, usually one would fight in their human form until exhaustion set in, then shift. Clearly he wants to end this match quickly and I’m not opposed to the idea.

I wasted no time and shifted into my large Black wolf, just as he lunged at me again. This time I was expecting his dirty move and dodged him easily. He snarled and barred his canines at me.

Before he could see me coming, I launched myself at him and bit down on his hind leg, causing him to yelp in pain. I shook my head, while I remained latched onto his leg and flung him into a nearby tree. He hit it hard, before falling to the ground.

He didn’t stay down for long, within seconds he was back up and lunged at me. I moved out of the way, but this time, he anticipated the move and turned his head towards me. He sunk his teeth into my shoulder and tore of a large chunk of flesh. I heard gasp from my warriors, but only one pleading voice really caught my attending, it was Jess. She was crying and I could hear the desperation in her voice. I needed to fight harder, for her sake. I hated hearing her so vulnerable.

I didn’t get any time to recover, Alpha Ryan tried to bite down on my neck. In doing so, he left his exposed to me. I turned my head around, faster than he could react and suck my teeth into his neck. Another yelp left throat, as I bit down harder and pinned him to the ground.

He struggled to break free, but it was no use. My jaw was locked and this fight was mine. I never let up on the pressure around his neck. For some reason, I didn’t want this to be a fast death for him. He didn’t deserve it after what he has done to both Jess and Beth.

After a minute, Alpha Ryan shifted back into his human form, no longer able to remain in his wolf form, because of his injuries.

I released his neck and shifted back into my own human form.

Alpha Ryan was lying on the ground naked and barely conscious.

“You’ve lost this fight, everything that belongs to you, now belongs to me. You will never lay a hand on Jess or Beth again, that I promise.” I spat out with my own venom laced words.

Alpha Ryan glanced up at me, with pure hatred in his eyes. He knew there was nothing he could do or say, to change the outcome of this fight. I had won.

I leaned down and roughly grabbed him by the hair, yanking him up. I put both my hands on either side of his head and in one swift motion, I twisted. I didn’t stop until I heard the sickening sound of his neck snapping. He went limp and I dropped his lifeless body to the ground bellow me.

I looked up to see proud expressions on my warriors faces, but my eyes were searching for one person in particular. When they locked with Jess, I saw relieved tears running down her cheeks, before she sprinted towards me and jumped into my arms. She didn’t even care that I was completely naked, she wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. I hissed, when her arm rubbed against the large wound on my shoulder.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” She said, while pulling away from me, trying not to hurt me anymore.

“Don’t you dare pull away from me, little one.” I growled, while pulling her back against my chest. She chuckled lightly and it was music to my ears.

I can’t imagine my life without this women, she’s perfect. I’m never letting her out of my sight again.
