Chapter 26:

? ? ? ? ?

The next day, Caden spent a significant amount of money promoting Lilliana's new song. Thanks to the Green family's prior efforts, the news spread quickly.

Lilliana was overwhelmed by the unexpected support and decided to purchase a gift to show her appreciation.

“So, Mr. Ward, do you really believe in me this time?” he said, his joy evident as he basked in the praise from his fans. “I promise I won't let you down. “I will definitely win.”

Caden maintained a neutral expression, continuing to look through the documents without offering a response.

At that moment, Hank walked in with a cup of coffee. “Mr. Ward..."

Lilliana quickly took the coffee from Hank. “Let me handle it, Hank.”

Hank hesitated, but eventually handed her the cup and left the room.

Lilliana set the coffee down beside Caden and said sweetly, "Mr. Ward, enjoy your coffee."

Caden remained expressionless. “You can go now.” His abrupt attitude left Lilliana briefly stunned. Knowing that Caden was always serious while working, she didn't tempt fate and left after a quick greeting.

The office was silent for a few moments.

Caden called Hank back into the living room with a stern look.

“Throw that fucking cup away,” he growled. “If a woman touches my belongings again, you'll replace yourself in the trash along with that cup.”

Realizing his mistake, Hank quickly threw away his coffee and asked quietly, “I've noticed that Miss Bennett has been spending more time with you. Is your condition improving?”

Caden gave him a sharp look.

"Are you prying into my personal life?"

Hank was about to nod, but quickly shook his head at the expression on Caden's face.

“It's Mrs. Ward who keeps asking about you,” Hank said cautiously. “You know she's getting older and she's very worried about your health. Since you never answer her calls, she texts me every day.”

Caden frowned.

“Keep matters related to Alicia to yourself. Don’t let my grandmother replace out,” Caden firmly ordered.

Hank agreed in understanding. Because of Caden's unusual illness, Ciara Ward, his maternal grandmother, had become overly worried and often tried to push women towards him. If she found out Alicia had slept with Caden, she would stop at nothing to make sure they were tied down.

“Sir, the madam said that…” Hank began but stopped short when he noticed a mark on Caden’s face. Curiosity piqued, he asked, “Mr. “Ward, what happened to your face?”

Caden kept a neutral expression. “I got scratched by a stray cat.”

“But, sir, that doesn't look like a scratch. “It looks more like a bite mark,” Hank replied, his concern growing.

Caden's eyes narrowed, sending a clear warning that made Hank shudder. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Hank quickly closed his lips and left the office.

The next day, Hank reported that Joshua had doubled his investment in promoting Lilliana's song.

Caden smiled with satisfaction. “Then we’ll match that amount.”

Hank immediately understood the plan and got to work. Once they had doubled their investment, Joshua responded by increasing his funding again. The rivalry grew, each striving to outdo the other.

Within hours, Lilliana's song shot to the top of several charts, becoming an overnight sensation. Her fan base exploded and her popularity skyrocketed. The entire Internet was buzzing with excitement, eagerly awaiting the release of her song.

The result exceeded all of Lilliana's expectations, and she couldn't resist bragging to Joshua for quite a while. Joshua, however, sat in his quiet office, showing little enthusiasm.

“By the way, Joshua, has Iris sent you the song yet?” Lilliana asked. “We only have three days left to inform Gerry. Don’t screw it up.”

Joshua replied nonchalantly, “She mentioned she would deliver it to me tomorrow.”

Lilliana waved away the concern, shifting all responsibility to him. “Just keep an eye on him for me.”

“Sure,” Joshua replied, accustomed to Lilliana’s nonchalance. It didn't bother him anymore.

Lilliana settled into his lap, wrapping her arms around him lovingly. “Thank you, sweetheart. “I didn’t expect you to invest so much in my song.”

In addition to promotion, other expenses were piling up, reaching astronomical figures.

Joshua let out a soft chuckle.

He decided not to reveal to Lilliana his secret rivalry with Caden. Instead, he reassured her: “What matters most is your happiness, no matter what the cost.” He knew that the Green family would eventually cover the costs.

Lilliana, still enchanted by him, beamed with joy. “It's still early. Abigail just brought out a new line of haute couture dresses. “Will you join me in picking one out, Joshua?”

Joshua agreed in agreement.

As they headed to the boutique, he hugged Lilliana, feeling content.

As he entered the shop, something familiar caught his eye. He stopped abruptly, recognizing Alice in the crowd.
