The Wannabe Warrior
Chapter 120

Zane POV

Mary was singing softly to herself as she mixed the cake batter in a bowl. She looked up at me as I entered the kitchen and her face brightened with a huge smile.

‘Well, young man, I see you have the plate. Did you eat the sandwiches and not give any to Alpha?’ she asked in her sing-song voice, as if it was part of the song she was singing.

Mary always knew how to make me feel good.

‘Of course, you did give me the plate after all.’ I chuckled back at her, joining in with the joke.

‘Would you care for some more?’ her hands never stopping her mixing in the bowl.

‘No thank you, but I would like a drink.’ My mind was working hard on keeping Blaze where he should be and I was having trouble holding a simple conversation.

‘Well, you know where the coffee is. I just brewed a fresh pot. Will Alpha need a fresh one too?’ she asked, not looking up from her mixing.

‘Nope, he has gone to visit some friends.’ I replied, keeping my voice calm and clear, as I fought my wolf even harder.

Her hands stopped her mixing and her brow furrowed,

‘Tell me young man, why makes your wolf so agitated?’ Mary could always see through me.

‘He does not understand why we have not had much time in the company of our mate. I would not mind more time myself, but she is busy with her duties and he does not understand our ways. As far as he is concerned, we should have our mate in bed until he has planted a pup in her womb, and while I like that idea, it is not what Madison wants and I am fighting him over it.’ Hiding anything like this from Mary would have been almost impossible. It was easier to just spit it out, before she gets annoyed with me, and one thing I have learnt over the years, is not be the reason Mary is annoyed. She may rarely show any anger, or shout and scream at you, but if she goes very quiet, you can feel that change in the air and it makes your hair stand up and you just know that you have just stuffed up.

‘You are Alpha born and bred. Of course, your wolf will be frustrated about not getting his way, but you need to show you are the stronger person. Have you spoken to someone about your wolf? If not, I can replace some time later and go through some techniques that might work for you?’ Mary offers, and I know she would fix me, but I have to try Jonathon’s method first.

‘I was about to meet up with Jonathon, he is training me. Apparently, if I had gone to Alpha training, say, like sixty years ago, I would have been taught this method. Today’s Alpha training does not include this type of training. Why they have dropped it is a mystery, and if I have my way, it will be reintroduced, it would save me from the pain I am going through now.’ I m****d back at her.

‘Jonathon is a good, strong man. You know he was Alpha born too. His older brother became Alpha and he was third born. When Alpha Daniel asked him to join his pack as his Beta, he accepted. They went to school together and hit it off straight away, but his training was Alpha trained along with his four brothers. If anyone knows how to help you, it would be him. It made my heart sing. When he found his second chance mate, he struggled for many years, raising those pups on his own and supporting Alpha Daniel at the same time. One strong man, I say, one strong man, can’t ask for anyone better.’ Mary said as she went back to mixing the cake mixture, now lost in her own thoughts, started humming a tune, dismissing me from her kitchen, in her own way.

I gulp down the rest of my coffee and go on the hunt for Jonathon.

He was in the library, reading up on healing wolves. We don’t have much. I don’t think there have been many to document.

‘Hey Jonathon.’ I greeted him, softly.

He looks up from his book and his right eyebrow rises as he takes me in.

‘More Blaze problems son?’ he probes.

‘Yeah, I lost it earlier in dad’s office, kicked a chair across the room, dad had to grab me by the throat and squeeze the life out of me, making Blaze submit, I am getting desperate, Jonathon, I need help.’ I begged for help; I was getting desperate.

‘Here is as good a place as any. Make yourself comfortable, and block all mind links and focus solely on my voice, close your eyes and stop thinking, you are too pent up. If we cannot calm your mind down enough, I will have to take you to the gym and hit you a few times.’ He said chuckling as he mentioned hitting me. I gulped, because I knew if we ended up at the gym, he would beat me up, he may be called a Beta, but he is definitely Alpha through and through.
