Chapter 121

Madison POV

We ate at a huge long table. The table was part of the wall, and we sat by it, facing the wall. It was weird, having no one seated before us, for us to talk with. We could only talk to who was either side of us, and somehow it worked. This tunnel was long and wide, it had tables on the walls on both sides, you grabbed some food from the front, and walked down the tunnel till you found a seat and sat down, no segregation, but then there were no children in there, only adults. Apparently, children had their own room to eat in and the set up was completely different and the children helped each other. Hearing this made you feel all warm inside, no fighting in this pack, no tarts, no “I am better than you” type talk, they were all treated the same regardless of the rank of your parents, even the parents were seated wherever there was a seat. You could end up sitting next to the Alpha or an omega. It was pot luck.

Eating was the main priority in this room. No talking about rogues or wars to come. You talked about family and fun stuff. Once we had eaten, we could go to the Alpha office or back to the diorama room. That was what I called it. I am not sure what that room was actually called.

We laughed and chatted about the ball and about Alpha replaceing his second chance mate. It was a light, casual conversation and it was good.

Addison found me before I left the eating room.

‘Madison, are we staying the night?’ she whispered to me.

‘OH, I am so sorry, I should have found you earlier. Yes, we are staying the night. I am sure Lucy or Cecilia will replace you a room for the night if you are tired.’ I answered regretful that I had failed to communicate with the ladies I had brought here to bond with and ended up in a room talking about war instead.

‘Oh, no it is not that. I wanted to stay longer, there was so much to see. Have you seen the growing rooms? They are amazing what they have done down here. You would not know you were underground. Well, most of the time. Anyway, I was having such a great time, and was worried we would return before I had my fill. Hope Graham won’t mind missing me for a night.’ she giggled.

‘Go have some fun, that is why we are here, to take a break from the stresses we have had lately.’ I encouraged her to enjoy herself. This place is so different from anywhere I have ever been, and it is never cold, not like outside at the moment covered in snow. I love that others are enjoying the Deep Earth pack as much as I do. They are fascinating people.

Addison skipped away, a smile beaming across her face, as she headed back to Lucy and Cecilia. I heard a squeal from the girls when she told me we were staying the night and, as a trio, left the room with a great smile on their faces.

‘You are a good Luna.’ Zakary whispered to me, when Addison skipped away.

I turned and looked at him, studying his face, before smiling.

‘I hope to be, one day, when Ezekiel retires.’ I sat back, my mind thinking of my mate and wondering how he was doing. He has had a hard time lately with his wolf. I know it was Blaze that shouted at me in anger, it scared me at how angry he was.

Zakary’s face blushed before he swallowed hard.

‘You are mated to Ezekiel’s heir?’ he asked, seemingly surprised.

‘Yep.’ I replied, watching him as his face turned redder and his eyes widened with shock.

“Well, that explains you being so comfortable with Ezekiel, him being your father-in-law, I understand now.’ He sounded saddened by this realization. I did not understand why.

I walked beside Zakary as we returned to the diorama room, to discuss further the attack of the Dark River pack, when they could work together to rid ourselves of that pack and maybe place the area under Zakary’s control.

I linked Ezekiel as we walked.

‘Ezekiel, I was thinking about the Elders. How about we keep the two separate, have a team effort to remove the Dark River pack and have the Elder’s help in removing the three Elders, we need to have those three Elder’s questioned under a truth drug, I have changed the formula and am eager to see how much better it is, than my first attempt. Hoping that we won’t have to use exact questions, but suggestions. A lot like the vampires used. ‘

‘The idea has merit. We will talk about it after we finish here. We can return early tomorrow and meet up with the Elders. They should arrive a little after lunchtime, so we have time to return and not rush. I like the idea of using these tunnels, if we are permitted, and also like the idea of keeping them a secret for as long as possible, though after the ball I am sure many already know of this pack, but not how far the underground packs extend. That is exciting news, we may be able to use them above ground too, in other areas. I am quite excited to chat with whoever is the leader and see what we can do together.’ Ezekiel is so enthused by the whole above and below ground packs.

We arrive at the room and Zakary is eager to get into the talks.
