The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 127
Madison POV
I bounced out of the kitchen and headed to my room for a shower and change. Although the bathrooms at the Deep Earth Pack did the trick, I just did not feel all that clean, sitting in a sort of bath to bathe, just didn’t feel right to me. I wanted an old-fashioned shower, hot water pouring over my body and a good rinse to get the shampoo out of my hair. I did a double shampoo and conditioner today, making it extra soft and bouncy. My hair seemed to be losing its lustre for some reason, maybe the water or shampoo they use at the Deep Earth Pack.
Having cleaned up, I headed out to replace my mate and Ezekiel and to see Gerome, to advise him of the communicator situation.
I knocked on Ezekiel’s door, but he seemed not to be down yet, most likely catching up with his new mate. I don’t blame him. I need to see my mate too, but duty comes first, I guess, and I am sure Zane must be doing his duties or out training somewhere.
So, I headed to see Gerome, before hunting down my mate.
I don’t feel any pain from Zane any longer, so I assume he is all healed and out and about. In fact, I feel nothing about him. Strangely, he must be blocking me this time, so I don’t feel his pain. I think, does that even work? Can you block the pain side of things? I have no idea. Something for me to look up and replace out, would be good to know.
Gerome was busy at his computer, doing what? I was unsure of why and was looking forward to replaceing out.
‘Morning Gerome.’ I called happily as I skipped into the room, still happy and chirpy from my day away from the packhouse and being such positive people even in the meeting room, they were polite and interested in all our input.
He looked over at me and frowned at me.
‘What?’ I said when I noticed his frown.
‘Thought you would have brought me some cakes.’ He grumbled out softly.
‘So, I am only allowed in here if I bring a cake?’ I was beaming with mirth and waited for him to answer.
‘Well, um, not really sure how to answer that without seeming greedy.’ He chuckles back.
‘Here.’ I handed him a box.
Taking the box and he looks at me for a moment, then shakes it and it rattles with something inside, he then tears it open. Inside are homemade chocolates, courtesy of the Deep River pack, a kinda thanks to him for all he did for them.
‘Wow, these look good, where you got them.’ He took a deep breath and smelt the chocolate smell, before grabbing one and popping it in his mouth. A long soft m**n of pleasure escaped his mouth and I grinned at his enjoyment.
‘They are from Matilda; the head cook at the Deep Earth pack.’ I said, with a large grin.
‘Wow, I think I am in love. Does she have a mate?’ he asked hopefully, his love of food evident.
‘Nope.’ I pop the p as I giggled again at his face.
‘I found my mate.’ He says with love in his eyes, though I am not sure if the love was for the chocolate or the idea of a cook being his mate.
‘What you working on?’ I asked as I walked past him towards my computer.
‘Ezekiel said you gave a guy named Zakary, our communicators we had given Alex, I was just reassigning them and putting in the wave length we will us on them. Since we don’t have many in use now,’ he answered, then popped another chocolate into his mouth.
I opened my computer and logged into the Dark River pack link I had made, and noticed that their computers had still not been used, and I wondered what was going on over there. Something is definitely wrong.
They have not used the computer since the day before the ball. That is strange indeed. I feel the need to go there and investigate.
I checked out the cameras, we had left around the mine. We have been checking them regularly and the caves, just to make sure no rogues are about.
Though we thought most were dead, new rogues could come into the area.
Turning off my computer, I got up and watched Gerome for a little while. He was doing something else now, but his hand went to the box of chocolates a few times. I smiled and kissed him on top of his head on my way out.
‘Catch you later, Gerome, let me know if you need anything.’ He is always in that room, working hard on different things.
I knocked on Ezekiel’s door, and was surprised to get a ‘enter’ from inside.
Inside is just Ezekiel, working on some paperwork at his desk.
‘Hey, all settled back?’ Ezekiel asked, looking up from his pile, pen in hand.
‘Not yet, I hadn’t found Zane yet, he was not in our room. I have been to see Gerome and check on the Dark River Pack, they still have had no activity since the day before the ball.’ I said as I grabbed the coffee pot and poured a cup for Ezekiel and then myself.
