The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 134
Madion POV
Zane did not last long before he fell asleep, and Mitch carried him upstairs to our room and tucked him in.
I stayed in the office as Ezekiel and dad discussed what to do with the Elders, who are traitors, and to go and question the one we now have in the dungeon. I had given them enough of the new truth drug to last a few months, and I hoped this new batch worked better than the last.
‘Ezekiel, how about? I will go with some warriors and we will check out the Dark River Pack and let you know what we replace. If I leave now, we can beat the Elders to the Dark River pack grounds. If they were told only yesterday about being discovered, you need to stay here and work out if there are others and if Emery decides to come here instead, we need you here, you have too much going on here and we can’t leave Zane to do it, and though dad and Daniel most likely can handle things, they would still need your approval to do things, please?’ I was not beyond begging.
‘Jonathon, are you okay with that?’ Ezekiel asked and it pissed me off that he would ask my dad’s permission.
‘I think Madison is the best person to send there, her ability to see and have clarity about the situation is excellent, she is in the loop with all that we know and most likely understands what is happening at the moment more than even we do. I trust she will do a good job.’ Dad informed Ezekiel and my pride just went up a notch, hearing dad compliment me and my abilities.
‘We can send our warriors. They have not left yet and are still here waiting for action and Peter and Graham too. I think we should keep Addison here though. I don’t think Graham would concentrate if he was concerned about the safety of his mate.’ Dad added after a brief moment to think.
‘Agreed, okay let me get some of our warriors together and, Jonathon, you get the Blue River warriors and let’s get them together in the hall and let them know what is going on and who is in charge.’ Ezekiel looked like he was glad something was decided and a direction made, I thought he must have been pulling himself in two, wanting to go to the Dark River pack and stay here too. this was the best answer.
‘Done, Madison, see you in the hall in an hour, pack what you need to take with you.’ Ezekiel walked out of the door, with dad following.
I rush up the stairs to my room and quietly sneak in, pack a bag and head back down to my shed, grab stuff I think I can use, like my blow darts and such, and rush back inside. I had a little time left, so I headed to the kitchen and stuffed my face with what Mary had left on the table to cool and then put some snacks in my bag. Yeah, I know, I have made lots of snack bars for emergencies, I can’t help it, I seem to need fuel often, and have always been this way.
Taking a seat in the hall and waiting for dad and Ezekiel and the troops to arrive, Dad arrived first with Peter and Graham in tow. They came and sat beside me, looking expectantly at me, but I was not going to tell them what I knew.
‘Hey Graham, how are you and Addison doing?’ I asked, trying to hide my nerves.
‘Finding my mate was the best ever, she is so considerate and fun, I am happy.’ He said and I could see he meant every word.
‘Can’t ask for more than that, Graham, I was so happy for you. Addison is a lovely girl, so full of life and curiosity.’ I said, meaning every word.
‘Hi Peter, how are you doing?’ looking over at him, he seemed to be nervous and excited, if that makes sense.
‘Glad we are about to do something, waiting around has had me on edge.’ He replied and I now understood the nerves and jitters.
Ezekiel walked in followed by a lot of warriors, a mixture of our pack and some I recognised as the royal pack.
‘Men, you are to leave, and will head to the Dark River pack grounds. We need to know what is going on over there.’ Ezekiel started to say.
‘Sir, who will be in charge?’ Peter queried, interrupting Ezekiel, who I found rude, those questions should be asked after we had all the information.
‘Madison will be in charge of this mission.’ Ezekiel said, and you could see both relief, confusion and annoyance flit across Peter’s face in a matter of seconds. He looked over at me, and I could see him from the corner of my eye. I did not turn to look straight at him, I was looking at Ezekiel for him to finish his instructions and felt if I looked over at him, I would not like what I would see.
‘Madison has been doing a lot of research and knows what I want from this mission, so follow her instructions, to the letter.’ He ordered, and I wondered if the hundred and fifty warriors would be enough.
‘Time to go.’ Dad said and the group rose out of their seats, those that were seated and, as a large group, made their way to the doors.
‘You will get on three buses, and when you reach Night Crow town, you will park the buses on the outskirts of town at that camping site and you will set up camp there, then Madison and a small group of you will shift and run the rest of the way. We want a look to see first.’ Ezekiel ordered, and we headed to the buses and boarded them.
Dad gave Graham and me a hug and well wishes and we climbed on board. Mitch was coming with us as the driver of our bus and a guy named Tully and Olsen were driving the others.
Each was a veteran man, and had lots of experience, and had grown up with Mitch. I found I trusted these two men, having met them a few times now, and have felt nothing but good energy from them.
