The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 190
Madison POV
Before I headed back to the cave, I found Alex and Zakary and informed them of our intention.
They agreed, we were not prepared for mercenaries and needed to regroup.
They were going to head to one of the other caves, and head back home and I told them we were going to the entrance we had come out of. They said they would catch up with us as soon as they had more intelligence, and when Peggy and Zeek returned to the caves.
When I was approaching that entrance, I smelt that a lot of rogues had been in this area, so I stopped the men and suggested that we try one of the other entrances.
I headed off in that direction and I could smell lots of rogues had been around this area too.
I all tried to stay as quiet as possible and moved as quickly as I could, along with the rest of the Blue River warriors.
I checked the traps and found a few had been triggered and the traps did the right job and killed the rogues who had tripped them.
Getting to the other cave entrance, I could smell that six rogues had entered and were most likely inside the cave and advised the men to take it carefully after we locked the doors behind us.
At the end of the tunnel, I peeked out from the tunnel and saw the six rogues, happily sitting near the exit. They were lounging around, relaxed and chatting to each other.
I headed back to inform the men of what I had seen, and that the rogues had no cover and no hostages.
Having shifted back, I looked at the men, not at all worried about my nudity, they should be used to it by now and being mated. Though Zane was not that happy, he accepted that it was a necessary thing at the moment.
‘Who has darts?’ I asked and looked around at the guys.
‘I have.’
‘So do I.’
‘As do I.’
Three Blue River warriors were carrying some blow guns and a number of darts, so I suggested those with blow guns move to the end of the tunnel and I would move to the other side of the rogues. When I gave the word to stay low and hit them with the darts, I would stop any from running deeper into the cave system.
Having made my way to the side, and close enough to the other tunnel entrance, I gave the word to take them out. Three warriors heads appeared and before the rogues could react to the sudden appearance, three were asleep, the other three stood up, but the Blue River warriors were experienced and soon had the last three asleep too.
These guys were the best and I was proud to have them around us.
I got the guys to tie up the rogues and I headed deeper into the tunnels, so far no new scent had hit my nose, but who knows, that other tunnels had been in before, could have had rogues in them.
The main body of the pack were busy.
A man came forward to us and informed us that they had blocked the other entrances, including the one we had intended to enter, and they believed rogues had entered, and they knew about the six in the other cave, but were watching and were prepared to collapse the tunnel if necessary. That was the only entrance not blocked as they were hoping Zeek and Peggy’s group would return soon.
The guy sent some men to put the rogues in cells that they had and keep them bound.
They had not heard from Peggy or Zeek and they had not responded to the mind-links, they had no idea what was going on, and that was why they started the closure procedures.
‘Did Alex and Zakary arrive?’ Zane asked as I kept sniffing around and glad onlv familiar smells were about at the moment, but I was still worried, this was not right, and I thought maybe Gladys was more prepared than we expected.
‘Yes, they have headed back to their own packs, informing us that guns are being used and to lock the tunnels up.’ The guy reported calmly as if this had happened before and everyone knew what to do.
‘We were also going to return to our pack and regroup. Are you okay with that or would you like us to stay until Peggy and Zeek return to the caves? I asked, not sure what their procedures were.
‘Leave please, we are going into lock down mode, and will lock all the passages and tunnels, until we hear from Peggy. She has a code word that she gave me before she left. If we do not hear that word given, we will not open the doors even for her or Zeek, as they may be hostages and we do not give in to threats.’ The man sounded confident and so we would head back, excluding the one who had found his mate here in this pack.
‘We have checked thetraps close by, and some have been triggered. We left the dead in the traps. It was not worth our time at the moment to clear them.
Just thought you should know our guy that found his mate will be staying with you, he does not wish to leave his mate at the moment and it is not the time to take her from here.’ I reported and wished the guy good luck and if things go sour, to let me know and I will try and get back quicker.
