The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 53
Madison POV
Dad was the best dad alive; I am sure of it. His enthusiasm, when he lifted me up, made me feel like I was a little girl again, made my heart soar.
Graham met Dad and me on the way up the stairs, showing dad where he was to sleep. The three of us chatted for a little while in his room, while I helped unpack his case and put clothes away and he put his toiletries away.
Mainly about how the pack was doing and that Daniel had passed the Alpha title over to his son and a little bit about that ceremony, and that our brother was now the Beta of the pack. We cheered at our brother’s title and were a little sad that we missed the ceremony, but we understood and were happy for the pack. That meant Dad and Daniel had no timeline to return to the pack and promised, when this rogue business was dealt with, he would stay for my mating ceremony and the passing of Alpha Ezekiel to Zane the Alpha and king title.
I had not really thought about a ceremony, with all that had been going on, it was the last thing on my mind.
Wish mum was alive to see that and me to be a Luna, she would have been so proud, I had a moment of sadness, before dad pulled me back out of my sad thoughts.
‘What is this? I hear you went out and rescued someone, and did this on your own. No back up, no help if you get into some trouble. Did you not promise me you would not put yourself into unnecessary danger?’ Dad growled softly. His eyes twinkled, but his voice said he was annoyed.
‘Dad!!!! I sung his name, making his brow frown at me.
‘I promised not to get into any fighting if I could avoid it, and I did avoid it, Dad. I did not break my promise. To you or Alpha.’ I argued with him.
‘You are stating semantics, it was still a dangerous thing to do.’ He argued.
‘But, dad.’
‘Don’t you “but dad me”, young lady, you knew what I meant and you disobeyed me.’ He grumbled at me.
‘Dad, it had to be done, and I felt we needed to do something straight away, they would not expect something so soon, as we…’
Dad interrupted me. ‘Don’t you try and make some excuse, I don’t want to hear it, you were to be a tracker, not a warrior wannabe, you were to go out only with the warriors around you, so they could kill the rogues, you were not meant to be out doing stuff ON YOUR OWN.’ He almost shouted.
‘Dad,’ Graham interrupted, his diatribe. He touched dad on the arm to get his attention, in an attempt to calm him down.
‘If Madison had not done what she did, when she did it, things would not have gone so well. You have to trust Madison’s judgement. Over the past week or so, I have seen Madison in a new light. She has turned this whole rogue situation around, we have names and information that you will hear about shortly, and dad, you will be so proud when you see what she has achieved.’ Graham was glowing with pride, so much so, that dad had no response to Graham’s comments.
‘Dad, please understand.’ I said, trying to get him to understand, that sometimes you have to do things at the spur of the moment and not second guess yourself.
‘I do understand, baby girl, but you are my baby, and I am replaceing it hard to let you go, even though you have found your mate, you will always be my little girl.’ He pulled me into his arms and sniffed my neck, calming himself with my scent.
‘Did you know you smell so much like your mother? I am going to miss not having you around.’
‘Why don’t you move here dad? Jamie is going to be a good Beta, and I am sure you would love being here.’
‘I will think about it, and talk to Daniel, he has been my rock through all of this. I doubt he will move here, as he has that new child of his own. Let me see, when the fight is over, how I feel, okay?’ dad said wistfully.
‘Time to go get something to eat, dad, you must be hungry after all that travelling.’ Graham suggested, pulling him towards the door.
‘Yes, I could eat, but this is not over, young lady.’ Dad growled and he pushed her out the door in front of him.
I giggled as I allowed dad to push me out the door, Graham grabbed my hand and together we walked down the stairs and headed to the dining room. Graham was calm and humming some tune I did not recognise.
