The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 54
Zane POV
We have twelve Alpha’s in our little meeting and, of course, Madison’s dad, the only Beta here.
The other Betas and those who brought wives were not in this meeting, neither were the lots of warriors that were housed out in the tents. Madison’s dad was included because of losing his mate, which made it almost impossible to keep him away, and Alpha Daniel wanted his best friend at his side.
All the Alpha’s are sitting around, waiting for the meeting to start. I am not sure why it had not started yet. Dad was doing something on the laptop in front of him and Gerome was looking over his shoulder, whispering every now and then as dad clicked on something else. The various men in the room are helping themselves to more coffee and greeting each other. Many have not seen each other since the last annual meeting, the room is comfortable, no tension can be felt, one would not know that they are here to talk about a fight about to happen.
If one was to walk in unexpectedly, it would appear to be a meet and greet event.
The door opened and in walked Madison; she had some device in her hand, and she walked all the way around the large table and then put the device on the side table under the window.
The action appeared to be innocent, and every man in the room watched her. The conversation had stopped as Madison walked around. I was annoyed and had to work hard not to growl at the attention the men were giving my mate. Stupid mate bond. I know most are mated and should not be an issue, but my male ego, does not like any male lusting after her.
‘Ah, Madison, have you got the item set up?’ Dad asked.
‘Sure, Alpha, let me know when you are ready.’
‘Now, that would be fine, if you didn’t mind.’
Madison turned off the lights and a huge hologram appeared in the centre of the table.
‘The hologram you see before you is from the surrounding area.’ Madison starts, and every eye is now glued to this amazing hologram, something I have never seen before.
‘The blue areas are clear of rogues or rogues have not been seen in the area for over six months, the red are active areas, and the green are where we have some warriors camped.’ She continues.
A red dot appears on the screen.
‘Here is the mine site, it is where we believe the rogues and allies to the rogues are housed, also making weapons and other items for the coming battle.’
The red dot moved.
‘Here are the caves, we are not sure what is going on in there as yet.’ The dot moved again, ‘Here, here, here and here are ventilation shafts.’
‘We have recently placed cameras around the cave entrances, mine site and in their cells. Please replace on the table a folder for each of you. In the folders are pictures of the rogues and other pack members we have seen enter or leave the different sites. Take time to look at them and see if you recognise any. In the folder is information we have so far ascertained. Alpha over to you.’ Madison said and sits down.
‘As you can see by the hologram, we have a lot of area to cover. Let’s get our heads together and work out a plan. Oh, before we do, Madison, was there any issue with the machine?’
‘No Alpha, all is clear and no unexpected surprises.’
I knew what dad just asked, if anyone had a listening device or smelt of rogues or the packs we had identified as enemy.
‘Good, do you want to stay for the meeting, or spend time with the ladies?’
‘Stay if that is alright with the other Alpha’s.
‘Anyone against Maidson staying for this meeting?’
No one was against Madison staying, so she sat beside me, with her laptop and typed away as the meeting progressed.
The meeting was really to fill the Alpha’s in with what we had discovered, and get their feedback on how we would proceed. We definitely don’t want to wait for them to attack us. Each Alpha had something to say, and the meeting got a little lively as some male testosterone took over. It was not that one wanted to be more powerful, it was always this way when you had so many powerful men in the room.
As the room got louder and louder and seemed to be getting more tense, one could not hear what was being said over the loud arguments regarding one idea or another.
It was getting way out of control.
I was shocked by who stood up.
‘Men, be quiet.’ Madison growled loudly.
I had never heard a room go so quiet so fast, as all eyes turned to her.
‘We are not here to argue over whose idea is the best, we are here to put our heads together as a collective and work out a strategy that will work for us all. Every idea is a good one, none is better than the other. We can use most of the ideas, but what I want to see is a gathering of ideas, collate them, and see what we have at the end. If you are going to get so loud I cannot hear the ideas, then you are wasting my time here.’ Madison stood up and bowed to dad and walked out the door.
Everyone in the room looked shocked by Madison’s statement and bold movement when walking out the room, but it worked.
The Alpha calmed down and ideas started to flow.
