The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 86
Madison POV
Left the men and rushed out to the shed that I used to make my potions. I had added some flavouring to this batch, so it would taste better. Not that I was worried about them not liking the taste, I just thought they would be more willing to drink it down if it tasted nice. I did not want to fight these men to drink the potion.
I had brewed a lot when we started getting so many in the dungeon. I thought maybe we would need to interview each one of them, and the potion would make it easier.
Back in the packhouse, I stopped by the kitchen and got a drink of water, and took four bottles with me, in case the others were thirsty too, gave Mary a quick hug and headed down the hallway to the hidden entrance. I looked around to see if anyone was following me, call me paranoid, but I stood still in an empty room next to the hidden door, and waited to see if anyone came down the hall. No one did, so I continued to the entrance.
Unlocked it and entered, rearmed the door and clicked the lock in place.
The smell of this place was a gentle reminder of why we are here, and I could not get it over and done quickly enough. I hurried to the place I knew the men were waiting and was relieved when I saw the three of them waiting outside in the hall.
They, too, seemed glad I was here now, and we entered the cell, five men shackled and I heard the smell of three of them. I had to fight my wolf from taking over, she wanted to kill those three so badly, having lived every nightmare through me, she was a comfort in my horror-filled nights.
Was asked which one had not done any killing, but was in the raid and I told them which one, the man, did not seem to recognise any of us, which was a relief, or if he did not show it, we would know soon enough.
I gave the man the potion and watched him drink like a thirsty man, his eyes glazed over as he drank. He almost growled at me when I removed the bottle from his mouth.
Moving back to rest against the wall and waited for the dad or Alpha Daniel to start the interrogation.
It was Zane who asked the first question.
‘Name?’ he barked at him, startling the man.
‘Gordon.’ The man said and his eyes widened when he realized he had answered the question that he most likely had no intention of answering, and I smirked. I loved my potions, they worked well. It took me four years to perfect this one.
‘So, Gordon, talk about why you were with the advisor?’ Dad asked him politely.
‘Advisor, who is the advisor?’ he sounded confused and he looked baffled.
‘Malcolm.’ Alpha Daniel growled.
‘He was a buddy of our Alpha; they met regularly like.’ He looked confused by the questions.
‘Did other Alpha’s meet with him in your pack?’ Zane asked this time.
Gordon squirmed a little, as if he did not want to speak.
‘Spit it out boy, you got nothing to lose.’ Dad encouraged, still playing the polite man.
‘There were three other men that always met. I don’t know what they talked about, but they usually stayed the whole weekend, locked up in Alpha’s office.’
‘Names lad, what were their names?’ Zane pushed so more.
‘Well, I let me think, oh yeah, one guy is Alpha Frederick, and Alpha Samuel, then there is Alpha Samuels, Beta Higgin. I often wondered why a beta came to those meetings, he was a useless piece of work, always complaining about something.’ He growled out, but not growling at us, but at the memory of something.
‘Why did you join the rogues?’ Dad pressed casually.
‘Malcolm had all these rogues join a special little force, he had a group of guys that would go out and hunt them down, most were happy to join for a while, some just could not stay, they got itchy feet and needed to get away from people, you know? Rogues don’t like to hang around people much, so to get so many to go to the caves and live like kings for a while, made many happy, because they could still go out and run through the forest and feel free. Plus, they got food and drink and a woman.’ Gordon got this far away look, and a faint smile on his face as he seemed to be reliving a good moment in his life.
‘Woman?’ Alpha Daniel roared, shattering the moment Gordon was having and he pissed his pants at the sudden power that Alpha Daniel pushed out.
I moved away from the wall and walked to the other side of the room. Gordon watched me walk, and I knew he was lost in the thoughts of the woman that was provided. I had no real reason for moving. I just thought I needed a distraction, the thought of women being consorts sickened me.
I leaned on the other wall, so I could not see the man, just wanted to hear the story.
