The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 87
Zane POV
Alpha Daniel seemed to be losing his patience, and I needed to take control, we did not want to lose this one and I needed to change the line of questioning, we needed to stay focused.
‘Did Malcolm supply these women?’ I asked.
‘Yeah, once a month he would show up with a bus load of women. Most were human, but, sometimes we would get the occasional werewolf. Now, they knew how to party. Humans never seemed to live for very long, they didn’t have the stamina.’
‘So, how long have you been involved with Malcolm?’ Dad asked, looking back at Alpha Daniel to make sure he was back under control.
‘He has been with our Alpha for over twenty years, that I know of.’
‘Have you been out to other packs and harassed the Luna and women to get them scared so their Alpha would submit to Malcolm?’ Dad asked the leading question.
‘Sure, plenty of time, more so in the last year or so, but before that, we would go into packs and target people Malcolm and the other Alpha’s wanted us to target.’
‘Like who?’
‘Well. The first one I was ever part of. We were at the Blue River Pack. Malcolm wanted us to kill the Luna, he wanted to take over that pack. Well, our guys got carried away and killed both Luna and the beta’s wife, but their b***d l**t took over and I nearly puked at what they did to those two ladies. Jacky wanted to pull the little girl apart too, but she was high up in the trees and we could not get her down in time. Malcolm came rushing in, saying the Alpha was on the way and to skedaddle. That sure made me sick. I never wanted to be part of that sort of b***d l**t again. Luckily for me, I was never sent out on those again. They liked me for other things.’
Daniel and Jonathon nearly lost it when he talked about their mates, and it took all I had in me to stop them from pulling this guy apart.
‘Madison, is this being recorded?’ I asked. I did not want this guy to die. If we could keep him for other Alpha’s to hear this, they needed to know that the two Alpha’s we did not like were part of the advisor’s team.
‘Yep, every last word.’ She replied.
‘Okay Jonathon, I think we have enough for now? Do you want to keep this one a little longer? Alpha might have some more questions later regarding those other Alpha’s and Beta.’
‘Yeah, I think we will keep this one, he seems to have a bit more to tell us.’
‘We shall put him in a different cell than the other two. We don’t want him telling them about our little conversations, while that potion is still affecting him.’ Alpha Daniel said as he looked at the man with so much dislike.
‘Okay, let’s get the next one.’ Jonathon, moves to unshackle Gordon from the post and take him to another empty cell. I grab the other side and we shackle him to the wall and head out the door.
‘Who next?’ Madison asked on the way to the cell.
‘Mine.’ Jonathon growled out softly.
We open the door and Madison points out the one that took Jonathon’s mate’s life and Alpha Daniel and I grab his and take him to the same pole.
Madison gave him a drink. He refused at first, but when the taste hit his lips, he drank it down with no more fuss.
‘What is your name?’ Jonathon started in a slow, calm voice that belied how he really felt.
‘Most call me clod.’ He answered, and we were not sure if he was joking with us or not. I look over at Madsion and she nods her head yes, so the potion is working.
‘How did you get that name?’
‘I used to fall over me feet a lot as a kid, and me pa called me clod hopper, and the name clod stuck. I don’t think I remember me birth name anymore, it has been so long since I heard it.’
‘Tell me, how long have you been with Malcolm?’
‘He and I grew up in the same Pack. I joined the Dark River pack when I found me mate. It was her pack, and Malcolm did not want me to stay at his.’ Clod said in his odd droll.
‘Malcolm made you leave and he was in a pack?’
‘Yeah, he did, but he said packs were too much drama, and he left it, and became an advisor for all packs. Self-appointed but it worked for him, I guess.’
‘Did you do a lot of raiding other packs?’
‘We did not really do that s**t, until Malcolm said he wanted some packs he liked, and we attacked Luna and Beta’s wife. He had hoped it would kill the Alpha and Beta, so he would walk in and take over, but it did not work out that way. So, he started to gather the rogues and train them to fight together. Some worked out, others didn’t, but we got a good group together, four packs and the rogues. He reckoned we had a chance, but I will not live to replace out, will I?’He seemed resigned to the fact he was going to die in the dungeon.
‘The killing of the Luna and the Beta’s wife was planned?’ Jonathon asked so calmly I had to look over at him to see he was really trying to hold back his wrath.
‘Nah, only Luna, the Beta’s wife, was a bonus, or so he said. He was in the van watching us do the job, he cheered at the dismembering of those two women.’
‘Why did you dismember them?’ Alpha Daniel asked in a low tone.
‘We just got carried away, we only planned to kill them, but when the rogues got to do all the fighting, we kinda lost it and said why not, and joined the fight. Malcolm was pissed off, he was worried our pack scent would be left there, but I think with all the rogues and the b***d and mess we made, I doubted our scent could be identified.’
‘But it was, wasn’t it-you have left an eye-witness.’
‘Yeah, a wee babe, she could not have been more than five or six, but she would have been old enough to recognise us if she saw us again. Malcolm was not pleased. I did not want to hurt a child, and got into a lot of trouble for saying that. I got shitty jobs around the packlands for nearly a year. Malcolm said we were lucky, the kid never said a word, not once,, we left spies in town to watch and listen. But after a year of nothing, Malcolm called them home.’
