The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 107
Alissa's POV
I woke up to a rustling sound from the room and I sleepily got up and looked around to only realized that the rustling I heard was from a rat.
I sighed and laid down again.
I massaged the bridge of my nose and grabbed the wrist watch from the bedside table.
9:36pm
I just slept the whole day?
Well, I was pretty much up the whole night anyway.
After dropping that girl off 5 hours away, I had to deal with the dude.
I basically got him back on his truck, drove an hour away from the motel, called through a payphone when I was on my way to call the police to get him then threw his body on the road then drove 30 minutes back to the motel and I burned his car down. It would have made a great asset but it's horrible thinking that the man owned it so it's a no for me.
Then, I walked back and arrived just before sunrise.
Suddenly, my stomach growled.
I sat up again and I walked over to the bathroom and I stepped at the toilet bowl to reach the tiny window in the bathroom.
I looked out and saw that it was indeed nighttime and I haven't eaten anything since I came here.
I closed the window again and took a quick shower then slipped into a hoodie and sweat pants then dried my hair with a towel.
I then went back to the bed and grabbed my bag from underneath and took out a few bills from the wallet, put it on my pocket before securing the wallet inside my hoodie.
I knew better not to leave my wallet behind.
Then, I secured my bag then left the room to go outside.
I put my hoodie on my head and then made my way downstairs and out of the building.
The nearest convenience store is a kilometer away and I refuse to shift for a variety of reasons.
I walked for a while until I finally saw the gas station convenient store and went inside.
I grabbed the cheapest food I could replace which was some cup noodles and water.
I bought 2 of each and checked it out.
Then, I cooked it in the store and ate it while standing up.
I finished the noodles in one go and gulped the bottle of water then brought the other with me on my way back to where I was staying.
I walked for some time again until I finally reached it and before I went upstairs to my room, I paid for an extra night just in case then went back to my room.
Then, I stood in front of the door for a moment and made sure that no one wad following me or watching me.
I also made sure that no one was waiting for me inside.
Once I knew that it was okay, I went inside and flopped on the bed.
I ate enough so my stomach wouldn't rumble but not enough that I'd be full.
But then again, I got used to it already with almost a month of almost not eating at all.
I'm surprised I'm actually still alive.
I stared at the ceiling for a while just thinking of the next step I'm taking after this.
Or at the very least what I'm willing to do to get out of this hell hole place that I'm in.
Should I go to a secluded place or should I go to the city?
It's more unlikely that wolves are present in the city than a secluded place so if I don't want to encounter other wolves, the city is the best next move for me. I turned my head and looked at the wall where I put the map on.
The furthest city possible.
After that, I fell asleep again and when I woke up, it was already past noon.
I quickly showered then I grabbed all my stuff and got out of there.
I walked on the road kicking rocks on the way.
I need to replace a place with a computer or someone with a phone.
I need to know how to travel to the city I needed to be in.
I walked for miles until I found another convenient store and I went inside to buy a bottle of water and a piece of bread.
I was also able to borrow a phone from the cashier and I was able to replace a way to get to the city I was aiming for without walking all the way.
But I definitely needed to walk for miles at some instances to save money.
I have very limited resources and I don't feel like wasting any of it.
It's not going to be an easy journey but I'll have to s**k it up if I want to stand by my decisions.
Well, this absolutely sucks.
Times like this I actually wish that I had that car.
How easy and convenient that would be.
I sighed.
I walked for hours until I reached a bus stop.
I bought myself a ticket and sat at the far back.
We waited for a while until the bus finally moved.
I tried to stay awake as best as I could but it was hard.
I'm too tired from walking for hours and I really need rest.
I kept my guard up as I took nap.
I woke up from time to time out of paranoia.
I couldn't help it.
The bus ride went on for hours.
After enough rest, I stayed awake as I watched the road..
This wouldn't be the last bus ride I'll be taking.
I feel like I can definitely go further.
Like I said, the more distance, tge better.
I mean it.
After a hours of being in the bus, we reached the destination.
A city but a smaller one compared to the one that I wanted to be in.
Now, I need a place to stay at before I could leave for the next city that's not too expensive.
Where could it be?
I started searching for a motel and found the cheapest one.
I only paid for a night since I'll be leaving tomorrow anyway for the next city.
Less stops is necessary so I can quickly get to the place I wanted to be in.
I went to my room and it was a bit better than the motel I stayed at in the middle of nowhere for sure.
I of course checked the room first and this time, I found something.
I sighed in disbelief and took the strange material that I saw by the clock in the room and I contemplated in smashing it but I'll have to pay for damage. Instead, I buried it under the bed.
I won't be seen in the camera and the sound eill most likely be muffled.
It's not like I'll talk to myself anyway when I'm here.
I may be mentally, emotionally and physically unstable but I'm not insane.
Atleast not yet.
I went to the bathroom and sure enough, there was something there as well so I did the same to it.
Then, I took a shower, did a bit of laundry, got dressed into a new set of clothes then flopped down to bed.
I should sleep first and eat later when I wake up.
My hunger can wait but my drowsiness cannot.
I fell asleep and experienced the same thing from the last motel.
I had to fall asleep and force myself awake multiple times before finally being able to rest properly.
I woke up a few hours later at midnight.
I pushed myself up and sat on the bed rubbing my eyes sleepily.
My stomach immediately growled so I grabbed my wallet like usual and hid my bag then I left my room.
I went down and out of the building and wore my hood.
I walked a few blocks to the convenience store and went in.
I picked out sandwiches and an energy drink and water.
I ate it in the convenience store and I couldn't help but notice the male cashier looking at me the whole time.
I rolled my eyes.
I finished my meal and was about to leave when the cashier suddenly stopped me.
He stood in front of me with something behind him.
I was ready to defend myself if he ever tried anything but then he suddenly gave me a bar of chocolate.
"Enjoy the rest of your night" he said looking away and rushing back to his post.
I stood there for a moment with the bar of chocolate then I looked back at him and gave him a small smile.
"Thank you. You too" I said and walked out of there.
I sighed and looked at the chocolate.
Then, I chuckled as I put it in my pocket.
I walked back to my motel and went back to my room.
I put the bar of chocolate in my bag.
Right now, chocolate is a luxury for me so I'll save it for a special time.
Since I was no longer hungry, I fell asleep almost immediately.
I woke up in the morning and I immediately showered, wore the same clothes as yesterday since it's still clean then I made sure I had alk my personal belongings.
Then, I grabbed the clock and other camera from my motel bathroom and made my way downstairs.
I went to the desk and put it down in front of the man by the desk.
His eyes widened as I gave him a sharp glare.
"Either I give you a refund or I'll smash these cameras on your head and report it" I said.
The man gulped and took out the money and gave it back to me.
I smirked.
"I hope you have the day that you deserve" I said and walked out of there.
I made my way to the convenience store from last night.
I'm not expecting to see that cashier guy again and get another bar of chocolate but the idea isn't so bad when I think about it as well.
Free food always seems like a good idea.
I reached the convenience store and I grabbed a single sandwich and a bottle of water so I'll have something to eat and drink on the bus on the way to the next city.
I didn't see the guy from last night so I figured that he's shift is already over and he's gone.
Just before I could get my things checked out, I saw the guy again and he came out from the back.
I was going to walk to the cashier to check my things out when suddenly, the man before me took out a gun and pointed it to the cashiers.
Their eyes widened and my instincts kicked in.
I grabbed the man's wrist angling it up as I tackled him.
We both fell to the the ground and a gun shot was fired to the ceiling.
The female cashier screamed in fear and I wrestled with the man on the floor.
Another shot was fired to the side and I looked and thankfully no one was there.
I of course won as I disarmed him and I punched him and knocked him out.
I panted as I got off him and looked at the gun on the floor a few meters away from us.
"Oh sht! Are you okay?" the guy cashier from last night rushed to my side.
I nodded and looked at him and his coworker.
"I'm fine. Are you guys okay?" I asked.
He nodded and the girl was on her phone calling for help.
The guy checked on me.
"I really am okay" I assured him.
He sighed in relief and looked at the unconscious guy.
"How did you...?" he said and looked me straight in the eye.
He froze up and I looked at him curiously.
"Nevermind" he said and cleared his throat before standing up and he offered his hand to help me up and I took it.
I realized he was blushing and I chuckled.
Police came and we had to be interrogated for the police report.
After that, the convenience store had to be closed for the day.
I was going to leave already to go to the bus stop when I heard the guy cashier's voice again.
"Wait!"
I looked back and saw him running to me with a paper bag.
He panted and then gave the bag to me.
I looked at it confused.
"Thank you for saving our lives. I can't thank you enough but I hope you still accept this little token of gratitude" he said.
I peeked inside the bag and saw sandwiches, snacks, chocolates and some drinks inside.
I smiled and gave him a pat on the back.
"This is more than enough thanks. You're welcome" I said and he stared at me in awe.
I waved a goodbye to him as I walked away to leave.
That went a lot better than I expected.
I smiled at the thought.
