The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 130
Alissa Soleil's POV
Axel still looked at me with a stunned expression.
I wasn't supposed to hear anyone from the pack through mind link.
I left the pack.
I'm no longer royalty.
And I'm not mated to Luke anymore so there's no reason for me to hear the link inside the pack.
"Do you want me to make them stop?" Axel asked worried.
I sighed.
"I'll just try to close it off" I said.
Then, I closed my eyes and I tried my best to cut the link on my part.
It took a while but I managed to do it.
I sighed in relief then opened my eyes as Axel stared at me.
"If you're going to ask me how, I don't know either" I said.
We reached the Palace and the car.
stopped.
I could see Luke from inside the car waiting in front with his bodyguards.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" he asked and I nodded.
Axel got off and he opened the door for me and offered his hand for me to hold.
I took it and got off the car with my glasses on.
Luke stared at me and I looked back at him.
Then, I held onto Axel's arm as Luke walked over to us.
Axel suddenly stood in front of me making Luke stop at his tracks.
Luke looked at him with furrowed brows.
Axel bowed his head to him.
"Your highness" Axel said as Luke looked at him.
Their eyes met and I knew there was something there because Luke clenched his jaw and Axel looked at him seriously. Then, Axel stepped back again beside me.
Luke looked at me again.
"Ali-" he was about to say.
"Mr. Alaric" I said.
"Please refer to me as Dr. Ellis or Ms. Ellis. If those are too formal, call me Soleil" I said.
Luke's jaw clenched.
"Of course" he said.
"Please assist Dr. Ellis to her room" he said to one of the helpers.
I held onto Axel again and he held my hand to assure me.
We walked inside and I was walked to a familiar guest room.
My brows furrowed as we stopped in front of the door.
Seriously?
Here?
There's tons of rooms in this place and he picked this one for me to stay in.
I scoffed.
"Unbelievable" I said.
"Pardon, miss?" the helper asked confused.
I gave her an awkward smile.
"It's nothing" I said.
The door was opened and we got in with the guards and they put my luggage inside.
"Thank you" I said then I turned to Axel.
"Are you okay?" he asked and I nodded.
"I think I'll be fine" I said.
"I want to meet mom today but I want to take a quick shower first before anything else" I told Axel. Axel nodded.
"We'll step out and I'll wait for you outside" he said and I nodded.
Everyone else left the room and closed the door.
I walked over to it and I locked it to make sure no one comes in.
I removed my glasses and I looked around.
The room hasn't changed since I left.
It felt like it wasn't even touched in 13 years but it was kept clean and well maintained.
I roamed around for a little and even the little details remained the same.
Was this guest room never used again?
Or maybe I was just remembering it wrong.
I just sighed and grabbed my luggage.
I took out some fresh clothes and went inside the bathroom to take a quick shower.
I wanted to meet my mom and Bryan first before anyone else when I come here.
I showered and dried myself off then I wore my underwear and threw in a robe.
I washed my face and dried my hair then got out of the bathroom.
When I did, I stopped when I saw Luke standing by my bed.
He turned to look at my direction and my brows furrowed at him.
"What are you doing here? I'm sure I locked the door" I said.
"And I'm the only one who has the key" he said and showed me the key.
I shook my head in disbelief.
"Get out. I'm going to get dressed" I said casually as I walked to the bed and grabbed my clothes.
I looked at Luke when he didn't budge.
"Leave" I said.
Luke tilted his hea to the side then lookede up and down.
"There's nothing about you that I haven't seen anyway" he said.
I raised a brow at him.
"Oh really?" I said and he looked at me straight in the eyes.
"It's been 13 years" I said.
Then, I walked over to him.
"You think nothing has changed in my body after 13 years?" I said as I walked closer and closer to him until we were only a feet apart.
Luke looked down at me as I looked up at him.
"Tell me, Luke. What makes you confident that you still know everything there is about me?" I said.
Luke gulped.
Then, I stepped back.
"Get out. I'm not changing in front of an ex" I said.
Luke's jaw slightly clenched and he cleared his throat before making his way out.
"We'll talk later" he said.
"I'm not talking to you before I talk to my mom and my brother so you have to wait after I do" I said.
"You're going to meet your mom amd Bryan already?" he said.
"Yes so get lost now so I can meet them already" I said.
Luke sighed then got out.
I slipped into a white crisscross backless cami top and slit skirt paired with white flat sandals.
Then, I straightened my hair and put some makeup on before getting out of the room.
I saw Axel walking back to the room.
"You're done. Was everything okay? I had to leave for a moment" he said.
"A pervert got in" I said.
Axel's eyes slightly widened.
"Who did?" he asked.
Then, I saw Luke coming over.
"His highness did" I said with a frown.
Axel turned to look Luke.
"I'm going with you" Luke said.
I raised a brow at him.
"No, you're not" I said crossing my arms in front of my chest.
Luke raised a brow at me.
"I need alone time with my family. If you can't deal with a few hours of waiting till I come back then don't expect me to stay here for the weekend" I told him. Luke's jaw clenched.
One of my main rules for this trip back to the Palace is never let Luke get his way with me.
Yes, this might be his territory.
But I'm no longer his.
"What time are you coming back?" Luke asked in disbelief.
"I guess we have to replace out later" I said and I held onto Axel.
"Let's go" I said and Axel nodded.
We made our way out of the Palace and the helpers and guards looked my way.
I smelled human and my aura was not of a wolf either.
Everyone must be confused as to why I was here and most importantly, why I was able to disobey their King in his own territory.
"I'm going to be the gossip of the territory for a while, aren't I?" I said.
Axel chuckled.
"That's very likely, yes" he said and we both chuckled.
We walked to the cabins and my heart was thumping hard inside my chest.
"Bryan. Will he be there?" I asked.
"Unfortunately, I couldn't reach him. He's either out of the territory or too busy training again" he explained.
"I'll meet him later. Maybe I can even meet him by myself" I said.
Axel nodded and I took a deep calming breath as we got closer to the cabins.
This is it.
Axel and I stood outside the door of the cabin and I gulped.
Axel held my hand for a moment and gently squeezed it.
Then, he opened the door with his own key.
Axel got in first and he looked around.
"It seems your mom isn't downstairs. Then, she must be in your room?" he said.
I looked at him a bit confused.
"We never touched your room. Both her and Bry go there often to reminisce" he explained and I nodded.
I looked at the direction of the stairs and walked there.
I looked up at the stairs and took a deep breath then I started making my way up.
When I reached the top, I saw that the door to my room was slightly opened.
I stood outside for a moment.
Then, I quietly pushed the door open and I saw my mom's back as she sat on the edge of my bed while holding a picture frame on her hand.
I bit my lower lip.
"Mom?" I said.
I watched as she froze then she lifted her head up and slowly looked in my direction.
Our eyes finally met again after 13 years of not seeing each other.
I saw how her lips parted in shock and her eyes watered.
I stepped closer.
"Mom, it's me" I said softly.
"It's Alissa" I said.
A tear fell from her eye.
"It's been 13 years" she said.
"And I can still see you. But this time, you look different" she muttered.
Does she think I'm an illusion?
"I miss you so much, my baby" she said as tears streamed down her face.
A tear fell from my eye as I stood in front of her and kneeled before her.
Then, she placed her hand on the side of my cheek but it wasn't touching me.
"If only I could hold you. One last time" she said.
Then, I held her hand and placed it on my cheek.
Her eyes widened and I smiled at her.
"You can" I said.
"Mom, it's me. It's Alissa" I told her.
My mom gasped as she cupped my face.
"A-llisa. Oh ghad. Oh my ghad!" she said and hugged.
"Oh my ghad! My baby! Oh my ghad!" she cried as she held my tight and I hugged her back.
"Alissa. Oh ghad. My baby!" she sobbed as my own tears streamed down my face.
"Alissa!" she kept crying and I held her to calm her down.
Then, she cupped my face again staring at my face.
"It's you. It's really you" she sobbed and I wiped her tears as it continued to flow down her face.
Then, I nodded.
"It's me, mom. It really is me" I told her.
"But I thought you were gone?" she said.
"I was" I said.
"H-how?" she said.
I held her hand on my face.
"It's a long story. One that I'd want to share when both you and Bry are both around" I told her.
My mom slightly smiled as she hugged me again.
"Oh sweetheart" she said.
There was a moment of silence.
"I'm sorry, mom" I whispered.
My mom shook her head.
"It doesn't matter" she said.
"What matters is your alive" she whispered back to me.
I smiled.
Then, I saw Axel by the door and I smiled at him.
"You want tea? Coffee?" he asked.
"Coffee sounds nice" I said and he nodded.
My mom and I hugged for a while until we both sat down on the bed and she looked at every corner of my body.
"Your hair" she said.
"And your skin, and your body and your eyes?" she added.
"They're..." she paused.
"Different?" I said.
My mom nodded.
"I had my hair bleached. My skin tanned a bit for the past years and I worked out to get a bit more fit and be healthier" I explained.
"As for my eyes, it just happened" I said.
"The change is subtle but it's there" she pointed out and I nodded in agreement.
"But you seem to immediately recognize me earlier though?" I said.
My mom smiled.
"Honey, I'm your mom. I would recognize you any day with any hair color" she said.
I smiled and I held her hand.
Then, I looked at her.
"I really am sorry for leaving without saying goodbye or without stating any reasons. Again" I said.
"Alissa..." she said.
"No, mom. Don't say it's okay" I said.
"Because it's not" I continued.
"I hurt you and a lot more people and I realized that now" I told her.
"I was hurting. So much" I said.
"But that wasn't a good enough reason to cause everyone else pain" I kept on.
"I was so blinded by my own problems and my own feelings that I couldn't think of anyone else but myself and replaceing out how you spent all these years mourning my death while I was building a life for myself makes me want to loathe my whole existence" I said. "Honey, please don't say that" mom said.
"I hurt you, mom" I said as a tear escaped my eye.
My mom wiped the tear away.
"I understand" she said staring into my eyes.
I bit my lower lip and hugged her.
"I'm so sorry" I said.
"And I forgive you" she replied and I hugged her tighter.
Ghad.
