The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 133
Alissa Soleil's POV
"Is she okay?"
"The doctor said she's fine. She must have been...in shock is all"
"My urge to punch you is so strong right now"
"I deserve it, I know"
Then, I heard a sigh.
"I just got my daughter back, Luke"
"I know"
Then, another sigh.
"I'll step out to get some air. I'll be back in a bit"
"Okay"
I heard the door open and close.
Then, I heard footsteps coming towards me.
I carefully tilted my head slightly to the side and slowly opened my eyes and I saw how Luke's eyes slightly widened as he stared at me. "Alissa" he said in a soft tone.
We stared at each other for a while.
"I'm sorry" I muttered weakly.
Luke's eyes softened even more.
Then, a tear escaped my eye.
Luke reached his hand out to wipe it away with his fingers and I closed my eyes as his skin made contact with mine.
When I opened my eyes again, I saw him tearing up.
I wanted to cry.
Sob.
Cry.
Shout
Scream.
But I felt so weak.
So tired and drained from everything that I just found out.
I felt so awful about myself.
I tried to push myself up and Luke held me and helped me up.
I let him.
Then, we both sat down looking at each other.
"Your ex" I said.
"Where is she now?" I asked as calmly as I could.
Deep inside, I was boiling in anger.
That btch.
"She was sentenced to death years ago, Alissa. As soon as we found Archie's real mom, she was put to death" he explained. My jaw clenched.
I would've wanted to kill her on my own.
After everything she's done.
How could she?
How could she ruin someone's life because of her greed?
I sighed as I held my head as it ached a little.
"Are you okay?" Luke asked worried as he sat beside me and held me.
"I'm fine, I think" I said.
"You think?" he said.
"I'll call the doctor to check on you" he said and stood up but I stopped him.
"I'm a doctor myself" I reminded.
"I really am fine, Luke. Maybe a bit too stressed to my liking but I'm fine" I assured him.
Luke sighed and nodded.
Then, I looked around a bit.
I was in the guest room.
"How long was I out?" I asked.
"A few hours" he said.
I sighed and I reached for my phone.
Luke grabbed it for me.
It was almost midnight.
The last update I sent Ma and Calum was after lunch time.
I typed in a message even though I knew Ma would already be in bed and Calum must be too.
Atleast he should be.
I typed in a message for Ma first.
To: My Ma
Hi, Ma! I know you must be sleeping now but I still wanted to leave you a message. I'm sorry couldn't update you earlier or say goodnight. Something came up. I hope you're doing well because I'm doing alright here. I miss you already. I love you. I sent it.
"Who are you messaging?" Luke asked curiously.
I glanced at him once.
"Ma" I said.
Then, I started typing another message for Calum.
To: Cal
Hey, Cal. Sorry, I haven't been updating for the past few hours. Something came up. Everything's fine here so far. Nothing to worry about.
"And that?" Luke asked.
I looked at him again but didn't answer.
I know he'll react negatively to it.
After sending my message to Ma and Calum, I put my phone down.
Then, I turned to look at Luke.
"How come Archie calls you his father?" I asked curiously.
"I took him in" he said.
"His biological father was killed. He was kidnapped and manipulated at such a young age. It was the least I could do for him after everything" he continued. "He's a great kid. He's an excellent fighter, an amazing student and just an good kid overall" Luke stated.
I nodded.
Then, there was a moment of silence.
"Your family" I said.
Luke just looked at me for a moment.
"They're in Eero's pack" he said.
"Liana will be having her 3rd child soon. They went to her to take care of her" he told me.
I was a bit stunned.
Of course Liana would have a family by now.
It's been 13 years after all.
What did I expect?
"3rd?" I asked.
Luke nodded.
"Wow" I said still stunned.
"She has an eldest daughter, a son for her second child and another son on the way" Luke told me.
I nodded as I processed it.
"She named her eldest Asila. If you read the name backwards, it's actually 'Alisa'. She wanted the name to be close to yours" he said.
I was even more speechless.
She did that even after I had left all of them?
I couldn't keep it in anymore.
I hugged my legs and I started sobbing.
I felt like such a jerk for putting everyone I loved and cared for through such a hard time when I ran away.
Luke caressed my back and I kept sobbing.
Then, suddenly my phone rang.
I looked at it and saw Cal's contact.
I sniffed and pulled myself together.
"Can you give me some privacy, please?" I need to take this call" I said wiping my face.
Luke seemed confused but nodded as he walked out of the room.
"I'll be by the door" he said and I nodded as I continued to pull myself together.
Then, I answered the call.
"Cal" I said.
"Soleil, are you okay?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" I replied as positively as I could.
"Your voice says otherwise"
I bit my lower lip.
"Soleil"
"Something just happened, Cal. But I'm fine. I really am" I assured him.
"Are you sure? Because if you're not, Soleil, I swear"
"I am. I promise" I said.
Cal sighed from the other line.
It's not an easy job convincing this one.
That's for sure.
"Cal, I really am fine. Some unexpected things just happened earlier. It's really quite a long story and I don't think telling you on the the phone is the best thing to do" I told him.
I heard him sigh from the other line.
"Okay, fine. I was just worried about you"
"I know. I'm sorry. But I really am okay" I assured him.
"Okay"
"It's already late in the evening. You should be resting by now" I pointed out.
"I needed to know you were okay first before anything else. I wouldn't be able to sleep if I wasn't assured that you were fine.
I smiled a little.
"You know that I am now. Go to sleep. We'll talk again soon" I said.
"Okay. Goodnight, Soleil"
"Goodnight, Cal" I said.
Then, we ended the call.
I sighed a little.
After a few minutes, Luke came back inside the room.
But this time, he seemed sullen.
"It's late and you seemed unwell earlier. You should keep resting" he told me.
Then, he turned his back on me but I quickly got off the bed and stopped him.
I caught his arm and he stopped.
"Don't leave" I said.
"Please" I added.
I felt Luke tense as he looked back at me.
"I want you to tell me now. Tell me all that has happened since I left. Everything you can remember. Tell me everything tonight" I said.
"I need to know. Please" I begged.
Luke's eyes softened again and he nodded.
We both went back to bed and sat down together.
Luke took a deep breath and then he started telling me everything from the moment I left.
From the little details to the big ones.
I shed a tear from time to time and I really did blame myself for so many things.
After some time, Luke and I finished with our chat.
"It's really late now. Get some rest. Tomorrow evening, there will be a party. Everyone in the Palace territory will be there" he said.
"A party? For what?" I asked curiously.
"You'll see" he simply said as he walked to the door.
"Goodnight, Alissa" he said.
"Goodnight, Luke" I said then he closed the door to the guest room.
I laid back in bed.
It really was late but I think I've already had my fair share of sleep.
I couldn't fall asleep so instead, I grabbed a jacket then made my way to the balcony.
I haven't done this in a while.
Then, I jumped down the balcony and landed perfectly on the ground.
Just like the old days.
I walked to the wood and took a walk.
My chest squeezed a little out of anxiety just because it reminded me of what happened in the past.
This was the woods that I lost my daughter in.
I wouldn't be able to ever forget that memory no matter how many good memories I had before in it.
Then, I walked to a familiar route.
At a distance, I saw lights in the familiar spot.
I walked closer and my mouth slightly gaped open.
Under my favorite tree was a spot full of flowers and fairy lights..
Then, I saw a few of my photographs and...an enlarged copy of Reeva's ultrasound.
Then, I looked at the sign on the tree.
'In memory of her highness, Queen Alissa and her majesty, Princess Reeva'
A tear fell from my eye.
I crouched down and touched the picture frames and the flowers.
It all looked beautiful even in this dark woods.
I couldn't help but cry quietly.
Then, I heard rustling in the woods and I was immediately alarmed.
Not until a familiar boy came out of the bushes.
It was Archie.
I wiped my tears away.
"Hi" I greeted him softly as I stood up.
"Hello" he politely replied.
"You're Archie, right?" I said.
He nodded.
"Yes, maam. I am" he said.
"I'm Soleil" I introduced myself and offered to shake hands which he politely took and shook.
Then, we looked at the memory pile together.
I glanced at him from time to time.
He did resemble Luke a bit because they had similar hair and eye color but their features really were different.
Then, Archie looked at me.
"Can I ask something?" he said.
I nodded.
"Of course" I said.
"You're the Queen, aren't you?" he asked.
I was taken aback.
I hadn't expected that.
Did Luke already tell him?
We haven't met each other before in the past so he hasn't seen me except from photographs so I doubt he'd recognize me that easily.
"I am" I answered honestly.
He smiled a little.
"How did you know?" I asked curiously.
He just looked at me for a moment.
"The way father looks at you" he said.
"He never looks at any woman like that before. The only time I every see his eyes like that is when he looks at your pictures" he explained.
I didn't know what to reply to that.
"I've been with father for 13 years. I've been living in the Palace territory for 13 years" he said.
"I've seen men and women; all wolves, walk in and and out of the Palace territory. None of them really peaked my father's interest whatsoever and it was purely business or just work overall" he continued.
"But then suddenly, he left the Palace to visit a pack and the when he comes back, something in him changed after 13 years. Then, he left again and the next thing qe all know is he invited someone who no one else knew. Someone who was different from all of us. Then, as soon as you arrived, all his attention was on you. There was a glint in his eyes that I rarely ever see. And it was because of you" he said.
I bit my lower lip.
"Thank you" he suddenly said.
I was confused.
"For what?" I asked curiously.
"For bringing back life into my father's eyes" he said.
I gulped.
How was I going to respond to that?
Personally, I didn't think that.
If anything, I must be causing Luke more stress than usual.
We were quiet for some time.
"I'm sorry" I suddenly blurted out.
Archie looked at me again.
"For what?" he asked.
"Just...for everything. I was part of the reason why you were taken away from your parents in the past" I told him.
"Someone else's mistake aren't yours. Why would you say sorry when you're a victim yourself?" he said.
Again, I was taken aback from his reply.
I didn't know what else to say after that.
"I'll walk you back to the Palace. There will be guards roaming in this area in a few minutes. I don't think father would be too happy if he replaces out from the guards that you were roaming around in the woods at this time" he said.
I nodded and Archie walked me back to the Palace.
"Go in, miss. I need to head to the training halls to train. I guess I'll see you again later in the party" he said and I nodded.
I watched him disappear as he walked away.
Luke was right.
He is a great kid.
