Alissa's POV

I looked at the lake as I enjoyed the peace.

Then, I glanced at Quinn.

"You're awfully quiet" I pointed out.

Quinn looked at me.

"I'm just thinking" she replied.

"Thinking of what?" I asked and looked at the lake.

"Our mate" she said.

I bit my lower lip.

"What about our mate?" I asked curiously.

"We're really getting married to our mate later" she said.

"Yeah and?" I said.

Quinn nudged me with her snout and I chuckled.

"What?" I asked innocently.

"Aren't you excited for us?" Quinn asked.

I scoffed a little.

"I don't know" I just said.

Quinn went closer to me and laid her head on my lap.

"Are you still doubtful of our mate?" she asked.

I looked at her as she looked up at me as if she was an innocent pup asking for approval from her owner.

"Not exactly. It's just that while your relationship with Luke's wolf might be good, I'm not too sure about my relationship with Luke" I said.

"And it's not like he's the only one to blame. I'm also well aware of my problems within myself. I know that I'm not the best at handling all of this too and that we both have our faults in the relationship" I admitted.

"It just" I said and looked at Quinn.

"Quinn, I can't promise us a stable relationship with Luke. I'm sorry but that's tge truth and I'm sure you've known that since day 1" I said.

"Yes, we're getting married to him but marriage isn't something that can magically make Luke and I the couple that you dream of" I continued.

"Luke and I keep trying and we keep failing. Just recently, we became closer, suddenly ended up fighting, got together again and now, haven't spoken to him in 3 days" I pointed out.

"Quinn, I'm sorry but you have to realize that I might have agreed to what you want now but that doesn't necessarily mean that things will work out in the future. I want it too but there's still so many things that I have to fix with Luke" I told her. I sighed as Quinn snuggled her head on my body without replying.

I didn't tell her but I was anxious.

Ever since the first day that I saw Luke by the ball room and we didn't talk then, I was worried that something was wrong again.

I still haven't confirmed if something really was wrong but considering that Luke and I haven't really been connecting before the wedding, it's a big possibility.

This time, it just wasn't in my end of the relationship since I'm the one who actually wants to talk and communicate with him.

I really hope that I'm just over thinking it and that nothing is wrong.

I woke up and I stared at the ceiling for a moment.

Then, there was a knock on the door and it opened to reveal Liana.

"Good morning, bride" she greeted me with a smile and went towards me.

I sat up and Lia sat on the bed with me.

Then, she reached for my hand and held it.

"It's finally your special day today" she said.

I smiled and squeezed her hand.

"Thank you" I said.

"For what?" she asked

"For everything, Lia. For being with me all the time. For taking care of me and for keeping me sane all this time" I said.

Lia smiled and hugged me.

"You're welcome. I'll always be here for you, Ali" she said and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

I smiled.

"Okay, now. You should take a shower and go downstairs. The makeup artist and stylist and everyone else who is going to help you prepare for your special day is already downstairs" she said. "But don't feel rushed, they just arrived and will be setting up" she added.

I nodded.

"I'll go down as well and I'll see you later, okay?" she said and ee hugged before she left my room.

I got out of bed and into the bathroom.

I showered for some time because I still felt a bit anxious.

I didn't think to ask Lia about Luke.

Maybe later.

I finished showering and got out.

I didn't bother to completely dry my hair since it'll be blow dried later anyway and slipped into a white patched pocket single breasted shirt dress and paired it with white sandals.

I didn't put any makeup on whatsoever and just headed downstairs.

The helpers saw me when I got down and tgey guided me into a room where everyone was.

It was a huge guest room and everyone was busy preparing.

"Ali" Lia called for me and rushed to me.

"Come on" she said and guided me to the center.

"Ali, this is your makeup stylist. She's the best of the best" Lia introduced.

"Milady" the woman said and slightly bowed her head to me.

I smiled shyly at her.

"Sit down" Lia said and made me sit on the makeup chair.

"I have to look over a few things first so you guys talk first on how you want things to go and all. I'll be back as soon as I can" Lia said and left us.

I looked at the makeup artist and awkwardly chuckled.

The artist gave me a warm smile.

"How do you want your makeup today, milady?" she asked softly.

We talked about my preferences and her recommendations regarding makeup looks.

The whole time, I was also trying to look around to replace Luke but of course, he wasn't here.

I really have to ask Liana because I keep getting anxious that something is wrong and I can't focus on anything right now because of it. Oh Luke.

What have you done to me?

"It's settled then, milady. We can start whenever you want" the makeup artist said.

I slightly smiled at her.

"Okay, thank you. Just let me look for Liana first so we can start" I said.

I need to ask her about Luke first.

This is driving me crazy.

I frantically looked for Liana.

I know she was somewhere here.

I looked and looked and finally found her talking to someone.

She seemed stressed out as she talked to them.

"Lia" I called.

She turned around and her eyes slightly widened but she quickly changed her expression.

"Hey. Is everything okay?" she asked me.

I nodded.

"Yeah. Is everything okay with you?" I asked.

Lia nodded.

"Of course. Everything's just fine. Do you need anything?" she asked.

"I was going to ask about Luke. I haven't actually heard anything about him since we got here. Did he get back safely yesterday?" I asked

Lia gave me a small smile.

"You're so cute. Thinking about your fiance before the wedding" she said chuckling nervously.

My brows furrowed a little.

She was acting weird.

"Anyway, don't think about my brother for a moment and finish preparing okay?" she said and pushed me to go back to the make up artist and stylist.

"Begin her makeup and take as much time as you need" she said.

The makeup artist nodded as Liana pushed me to my seat.

Something was wrong and Lia refused to tell me.

I was getting anxious by the minute.

The makeup artist did in fact take her time with my makeup.

She looked at me with a satisfied smile.

"You look absolutely stunning, milady. The King is extremely lucky to have such a gorgeous mate" she said.

"I'm sure he'd be stunned to see you specially in your wedding gown" she added.

I chuckled awkwardly.

Right.

Extremely lucky.

Uhuh.

I sighed and then I saw my mom.

"Mom" I said with a smile.

It was nice to see her.

Mom stared at me for a moment then walked to me as she teared up.

"Oh baby" she said as her tears fell from ber eyes.

I smiled a bit as I reached my hand out and wiped her tears.

"Don't cry. You're going to make me cry. Then, they'll have to fix mu makeup" I said.

Mom and I chuckled and she gently held my face.

"You look beautiful" she said.

I smiled.

"Thank you" I said.

She stared at my face.

"I didn't know this day would come so soon. I've been dreading for today to come for days" she said.

I sighed.

I was too.

"Oh ghad" she said as she started sobbing.

"Mom" I said as I too started to tear up.

"I'm sorry, honey. I just can't help it" she said.

He lightly caressed her thumb on my face.

"Your dad would have loved seeing you like this" she said.

"He wouldn't like the fact that you'll be getting married but he'll love seeing you in the wedding dress anyway" she added.

We both chuckled.

Mom caressed my hair.

"You're all grown up" she muttered.

"But you'll always be my precious little girl. The love of my life. My sweet angel" she said.

I held her hand and lightly squeezed it.

I smiled.

Then, I saw Axel peak inside the room as well and our eyes met.

Mom followed my gaze.

"Come in" I said.

Axel came in as he stared at me.

"Hey" I greeted him softly.

"Hey" he greeted back.

"Ali, you look lovely" he said.

I smiled.

"Thank you" I said.

Mom started sobbing even more and Axel comforted her.

Axel whispered comforting words to her as he held her in his arms.

I stared at them and just watched them.

I wonder if Luke and I will ever be the same.

Or will we just get worse?

I sighed.

Why is this so hard?

Was it supposed to be this hard and complicated?

I turned around and I looked at myself in the mirror.

I looked good.

Really good.

But that's not how I felt inside.
