"He left?" Lowell was shocked. "When?"

"This morning," the butler said, "Master Ernest and Miss Leah went to the lake and wouldn't be back tonight. Master Gary and Miss Celeste went on a cruise. They wouldn't be back either."

"What? How were they when they left?" What concerned Lowell now was Gary and Celeste's moods.

He wanted to get some information from their interactions to help him grasp the situation.

Confused, the butler asked, "Why do you ask this, Master Lowell? Is something the matter?"

"Answer me," Lowell demanded, "How have Gary and Celeste been during their time here?"

"They seem fine. Nothing seems to be amiss." Not knowing why Lowell had asked so, the butler replied sincerely.

Instantly, Lowell breathed a sigh of relief. "So they are still lovey-dovey as always? I mean, do they look like they are?"

"That's right. They have been getting along with each other." The butler tried hard to remember the moments Gary and Celeste had been seen together before nodding. "They're glued to each other every moment of the day. Although Master Gary had gone to the United States for some time, his relationship with Miss Celeste is fine as ever."

"There wasn't anything unusual?" Lowell asked again.

"No." The butler shook his head. "They're very much in love with each other. Ah! That's why they're now on a cruise together."

"Alright, thank you." Lowell couldn't conceal his happiness, showing a smile on his face. He, too, had realized how paranoid he seemed to have asked such a stupid question. But he was just too worried that he would be the cause of a failed relationship.

"Master Lowell, would you be staying here?" Seeing that he was now happy, the butler heaved a breath of relief too. "Should I prepare a room for you?"

"I'm good. I'm going back to the mansion," Lowell said, "Give me a call when Gary and Celeste come back."

"Okay." The butler nodded.

With that, Lowell drove down the mountain shortly.

He did not choose to stay the night.

Now that there was no one there, the villa was too quiet.

So he did not intend to stay.

After returning home, Lowell went to take a nap as he had not slept well for the past few days. Right then, he was exhausted.

Offshore.

Gary and Celeste were enjoying a lovely seafood meal. Right then, they sat opposite each other, and Gary was busy peeling the shell off the crab. Soon, his long elegant fingers separated the crab meat from its shell.

Once he was done, he pushed the plate full of crab meat towards Celeste.

"Have some," he said.

She was almost moved to tears by his gentle gesture as she thanked him, "Thank you."

"Don't mention it," Gary said as he continued on the second crab, "Leave the peeling to me."

How gentleman of him to do so.

It was almost unlike him.

Watching him, Celeste felt the changes in Gary after the matter with Janice.

Unlike the old him, he was much more considerate and attentive to her.

And she was enjoying every bit of it.

She wanted this moment, the blissful feeling of never having to care about anything else, to last forever. It was so nice to not have worries that she wished shecould stay on this cruise with him.

The moment they boarded the cruise, Gary had asked Celeste to switch off her phone as he did the same. She knew it was because he wanted some peace.

He wanted this cruise to be as uneventful as it could be, just a trip with no interruptions.

She wanted the same too.

Therefore, she did the same to her phone, and the rest was history. The atmosphere was calm without any noise from their phones.

On the quiet sea, only the sound of waves surrounded them.

The staff was sensible people. They tried not to disturb the couple unless necessary.

In the enormous dining hall of the cruise ship, they sat together enjoying a splendid seafood meal.

Gary, the gentleman, peeled crab meat for Celeste as she ate happily.

She had not said much about Janice's matter.

After all, she was waiting for him to bring it up himself, but it had been some time since she started waiting.

She was mentally prepared to hear it, but he had no intention of speaking.

Just then, she didn't know what to do.

"What are you thinking about? You seem a little absent-minded. Is the food not to your liking?" Gary asked when he saw that she was distracted.

All this while, he was curious to know what Janice had said to Celeste. Did Celeste know about everything?

Therefore, he was trying to sound her out. Now that he had spoken, he was afraid things would go downhill from there.

Somewhere in his heart, he hoped that she knew nothing.

She looked at him and her eyes flickered. Then she whispered, "I was thinking about your trip to the states."

For a moment, his body froze. The crab meat quivered in his hands.

Of course, she saw it.

Taking a look at him, she then lowered her head as she spoke calmly, "To go back and forth between two countries must have been exhausting for you." "Not really. The flight isn't as long as you think it is, he answered.

"But if it's something that you can't solve through a call then it must mean that it was a tricky matter," Celeste probed.

Gary bit his bottom lip, his expression turned stiff. "Not exactly either."

"I've been thinking if it is right for me to go with you to Boston to further my studies." She changed the topic, wanting to know whether she should return to London or Boston for the new semester.

The promise they had made was for

a year. Now that something like this happened with Janice, she felt that it would be bad for him if she returned to Boston with him. Perhaps they would accidentally expose Something too.

Sure enough, he paused when he heard her question.

It caught him off guard, and a trace of worry flashed through his eyes.

When their break ended, they would have to return to Boston. However, if they broke up and returned, it would be awkward for both of them.

But if that did happen, he would give Janice hell.

Things were getting more and more tricky.

After a moment of hesitation, Gary said, "Of course it is. Why would you think otherwise?"

"I was afraid I had made a rash decision and put you on the spot." Celeste smiled. "That's why I had been pondering if it would make things difficult for you if I continued to stay in Boston."
