Upon hearing Xavier's words, Jensen's gaze darkened.

He narrowed his eyes, looking cold and stern, and then said with a faint smile, "Xavier, you're suspected of kidnapping and there will be consequences to your actions." "Who did I kidnap?" Xavier chuckled. "Where's the evidence? Can you show it to me? I can't be held accountable without any evidence. Do you think I'm scared?" Xavier retorted as he stared calmly at Jensen. His gaze was provoking and void of any fear. He was confident that Jensen couldn't arrest him for kidnapping. A smirk formed on Jensen's face while he squinted at the man. Xavier seemed smart and calm, but he was not smart enough to not leave any trace behind. "So, you've confessed to kidnapping Alice?"

Xavier sneered and replied, "Officer Charm, are you trying to trick me? Bring me the evidence."

Jensen narrowed his eyes again, scrutinizing Xavier.

"Also, do you have an arrest warrant for me? As far as I know, you haven't gotten it yet, have you?" Xavier looked at him with a smile and added, "Officer Charm, you should be more careful. I might sue you for abusing your authority for personal gain."

Jensen's chest tightened at once. He instantly understood that this man was not easy to deal with.

Indeed, he hadn't had the time to get the arrest warrant. The judge had told him that he had to wait until dawn to be able to obtain a warrant. Moreover, this case was no longer urgent because Alice was safe, so he did not rush the judge.

But now, Xavier had pointed out the flaw in his plan.

Hence, Jensen began to feel worried.

As soon as this idea came to mind, the phone rang.

The caller ID on the screen showed it was from his boss.

Jensen was filled with worry as he glanced at Xavier.

On the other hand, Xavier looked at him calmly and without a trace of nervousness.

"Answer it," Xavier spoke. He urged Jensen, "Your boss is calling. You've violated the rules and should be punished."

As expected, as soon as the call was connected, a man's deep voice could be heard from the other end of the line.

"Jensen, how could you arrest someone without a warrant? This has caught the attention of the higher-ups, and you are officially suspended from your duties. You are no longer allowed to participate in any cases until a formal decision is made on whether you still have a future within the force."

His boss bluntly told him that he was suspended.

Jensen finally understood that Xavier had a powerful background.

It seemed like he had come prepared.

Then, Jensen paused for a moment before he exited the room. When he was outside, he lowered his voice and said, "The arrest warrant isn't with me, but due to the urgent situation, I had to arrest Xavier for kidnapping. Besides, the evidence is solid."

"If you arrest a person without an arrest warrant, you would be violating the rules and the higher-ups are out for blood. Moreover, the man you arrested is no ordinary person. If you did not violate the rules, I could still speak up for you. But now that you screwed up, I have no other choice. You have been suspended from your position. Release Xavier immediately."

Jensen replied anxiously, "Director Allen, Xavier can't be released. He kidnapped my wife."

"Your wife? No wonder they said that you used your power for personal gain. Jensen, release him at once, and then well talk about it tomorrow. I'll arrange for someone to take over your position." After that, the call was abruptly disconnected.

Jensen stood at the door and did not move for a long time.

His assistant came over and said, "Boss, Director Allen called and said that he is suspending you. You'll have to leave your badge behind."

Jensen removed his badge and handed it to him, saying, "Okay. Go and deal with it. As for Xavier, you can handle him accordingly." "Alright."

As Jensen left the police station, everyone went silent as they watched helplessly.

After that, Jensen sat in the car alone. He lit a cigarette and started smoking.

Not long after, someone knocked a few times on his car window.

Jensen glanced over indifferently and noticed that

it was Xavier.

He thought, "So, he's already been released..."

Xavier was standing by the car door and looking at him with a satisfied glint in his eyes.

Jensen rolled down the window.

"Officer Charm, you seem hurt. You're even smoking in the car all by yourself. Tell me, how does it feel to be suspended?"

Jensen did not respond to him.

"You're quite bold for arresting people without an arrest warrant. Obviously, you don't respect your superiors. Arrogance is a sin, my man." Xavier shrugged his shoulders and sneered at Jensen. Jensen remained silent. He glared at him coldly and then took another drag of his cigarette.

Xavier didn't say anything further in order not to push Jensen over the edge.

"I guess this is the price to pay for your arrogance. It's only fitting for you to be punished if you don't know when to pick your battles. Well, just take it as a lesson. You'd better be cautious next time. It's better for everyone that way."

"F*ck off!" Jensen snapped.

Xavier was stunned for a while before he laughed. "Officer Charm, it's not good to cuss at people. You look like you want to hit me."

Jensen narrowed his eyes and sneered. "In your dreams."

He could see that Xavier wanted to provoke him into starting a fight so that he would be punished even more severely.

Honestly, how could Jensen not know what he was thinking?

Meanwhile, Xavier smiled playfully.

"Forget it, I'm leaving. Officer Charm, I'm sure we'll see each other again."

"Of course," Jensen growled.

One day, he would put Xavier away for good.

Then, Xavier smirked and said, "That depends on how capable you are."

This was the first time that Jensen had been suspended from his job, and he felt helpless.

Just then, the phone rang, and Jensen looked at the screen. It was Heinz.

"Jensen, I was busy when you called me just now." Heinz said, "I'm investigating Miranda."

"How did it go?" Jensen asked.

"Miranda has gotten herself a powerful backer. Now, she's become the second wife of the Quell family, and she wields considerable power." "The Quell family?" Jensen was taken aback. "Yes," Heinz affirmed as he nodded. "It's not going to be easy to deal with her."

"Heinz, I was suspended." Only then did Jensen inform Heinz.
