True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 962
Half an hour later.
At The Jones family villa.
Heinz and Jensen's cars entered the yard. Both of them got out at the same time and didn't hurry into the house.
Then, Heinz looked at Jensen. It was obvious that he was unhappy.
He sighed and said, "Tell me, what is going on?"
"I was too anxious earlier, and I didn't get the arrest warrant to arrest Xavier. So they used this against me and got me suspended. To make matters worse, Xavier was also released."
Heinz nodded and said, "Miranda came prepared, but as the second wife of the Quell family, she has not given birth to a child yet. Hence, she's essentially Mr. Quell's nanny now. She takes care of him, who is 15 years her senior, which curry her favor."
"Ha!" Jensen sneered and commented, "The Quell family is indeed very powerful. No wonder they can remove me from my duties." "I regret it, honestly. I should've listened to Grace and not have rushed to arrest Xavier."
"But you were worried. Alice is your wife, so it's understandable for you to lose your rationality sometimes." Heinz comforted him and said, "Don't worry, I've checked Mr. Quell's contact information. I'm going to meet him at ten o'clock tomorrow morning."
"You're going to meet him?" Jensen asked, "As far as I know, Mr. Quell seldom appears in public since his retirement. Not everyone can meet him easily."
"My grandfather is coming with me," Heinz said, "Coincidentally, they are old acquaintances."
"Oh? What a coincidence," Jensen remarked.
"What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to worry about it." Heinz told him, "Grandpa is a rather powerful man, and I believe that Mr. Quell will negotiate with him. He used to be Grandpa's subordinate before he came to the capital city."
"Subordinate?" Jensen was surprised. "How come I've never heard of it?"
"Grandpa retired a long time ago, and he doesn't like to meet his old friends." Heinz said, "You shouldn't bother him unless you have no other choice." "Oh." Jensen nodded. "That's true."
"In short, we are not completely at a disadvantage now. It's just that we should do things safely. You don't have to be impulsive anymore, and you can take this opportunity to rest. You can quit your job if you really want to. You'll make even more money if you're not a policeman."
"I can't take the coward's way out." Jensen shook his head. "It will be too easy for them."
Heinz looked at him and then took out a cigarette. He handed it to Jensen and said, "Tonight is just a minor setback."
Jensen chuckled self-deprecatingly and uttered, "I may have overestimated myself."
Heinz reached out and patted him on the shoulder. "Don't be discouraged."
"Don't you want to go in and rest?" Jensen looked at his watch and said, "It's almost dawn."
"Let's finish this cigarette first." Heinz said, "Then we'll talk again tomorrow morning."
"Alright."
Ten minutes later.
Both of them arrived in their respective rooms.
As soon as Jensen entered the door, Alice jumped out of bed and ran over to him. "Jensen, what's wrong?"
He looked at her and didn't know what to say.
Alice questioned again, "What's wrong? Did Xavier get caught? Did he confess?"
At last, Jensen shook his head in embarrassment.
"Alice, I was suspended." He summoned up his courage to look her in the eye and said, "I couldn't do anything. Please forgive me."
Alice was stunned for a moment and instantly understood what had happened. No wonder he showed a sense of defeat as soon as he entered the door.
She looked at him with concern and asked, "Why were you suspended?"
For a moment, Jensen didn't say anything. Then, he said. "I rushed to arrest Xavier without an arrest warrant."
"What?" gasped Alice.
Jensen was at a loss for words and he was upset that he couldn't help his own wife.
When Alice saw his expression, she knew that he was depressed and guilty. Therefore, she immediately comforted him and said, "It doesn't matter. Let's take it slow. Don't worry, Jensen. It was my fault. I shouldn't have run away and quarreled with you on the phone."
Jensen shook his head. Alice's mother had passed away on this day, and he could understand her sadness.
"I didn't handle it well, which led to this. You were right. It was my problem." Jensen said, "I will replace a way, though. Even if I am suspended, I will get the evidence and arrest Xavier."
If he couldn't catch Xavier and foil Miranda's plan, then his entire career as a policeman would be for nothing.
Jensen added, "Alice, go to bed. I have to head out early tomorrow morning."
Now that he had been suspended, he was free to go and investigate the case on his own.
"Please get some rest," Alice spoke as she drew a bath for him. "Take a bath and then you can go to sleep."
Meanwhile, Heinz took a bath in the guest room. When he returned to the master bedroom, Grace had already fallen asleep, but the creak of the door woke her up. When she heard the sound, she immediately rubbed her eyes and saw Heinz's tall figure entering.
She immediately turned on the lamp on the bedside table and looked at him.
He came to the bedside, sat down, and looked at her with regret in his eyes.
"Go to sleep," Grace spoke softly and just smiled at him.
Then, they exchanged warm smiles and all was well.
Heinz reached out, lifting the blanket before he got into bed. He slipped in and wrapped his arms around Grace. "I'm sorry, I neglected your feelings today." "Well, I didn't really look after your feelings, either. I also said something to hurt you," Grace replied sheepishly.
"I'm not that vulnerable," Heinz said.
"But you ran away." Grace whispered, "You didn't want to talk to me anymore."
"No." Heinz explained, "I'm just a man, and I'm not perfect. I felt upset and frustrated. I didn't know how to face you."
"We already have two kids together, so what's to be embarrassed about?" Grace replied, "I thought you were sad when you left, and it made me feel guilty." "I'm sorry," Heinz solemnly apologized.
"Don't be sorry." Grace shook her head. "We have different styles of doing things. Alright, let's get some sleep. You're tired, and your eyes are bloodshot." Then, Grace yawned and turned off the light. She lay comfortably in Heinz's arms and went to sleep.
Embracing her and breathing in the fragrance of her hair, Heinz gradually fell asleep.
He would make a much better plan the next day, and he would not make the mistake of being hasty ever again.
