Waited For The Luna
Chapter 54

“Why didn’t you call me?” I walked towards her and helped her to her bed.

“I can’t stay on the bed all day. I need to walk around since I’ll be giving birth soon.” She said taking my hands away. “Stop treating me like I’m so fragile.” She beamed as she sat on the side of the bed.

“Well, you are kinda,” I told her while tucking her hair to her ear. “You’ve been in and out of the hospital since we got together. I’m starting to believe that I am your jinx.”

“It’s not entirely your fault. I’ve been overworking my body since high school. The moon goddess is just jealous that we’re always happy.” She said leaning into my chest. “I should stop provoking the moon goddess. Maybe she’s punishing us because of my bad mouth.”

“You know for a sick pregnant person, you have the biggest sense of humor,” I whispered.

“That’s. because you have none, we have to balance each other you know. Plus I am happy. Our little baby is happy with my jokes.”

Suddenly Bellamy winced in pain and sat straight caressing her tummy. “See, he’s kicking. Little baby likes mommy’s sense of humour” she said in a mushy tone.

I then got down on the floor and directed my face to her bump. This was the first time I was having an intimate moment with my son.

“Hush, little one. We don’t want mommy uncomfortable.” I watched as he moved inside her. “I love you and I love your mommy. But you must understand. Daddy is first in mommy’s heart.” A bit annoyed Bellamy hit me on my shoulders.

“Don’t listen to this bad man, baby. You are the only one in my heart.” She teased. We both laughed as we held on to our son.

“That won’t be possible. Soon he’ll want more siblings.”

“We’ll give him 10 siblings!” she cheerfully said.

“You’re gonna drive me to bankruptcy, sweetheart.” I poked her nose and gave her a little peck before pulling back.

We looked into each other’s eyes and only our breathing could be heard. We were uncertain whether our family will be able to survive, but we could only live for what we have today. I know behind our love and laughter was the sad truth but Bellamy taught me to hold on to even the slightest chance of their survival.

She then leaned back and gave me a passionate k**s. It was as if she was saying goodbye. I then pulled back.

“Will have to save that for our honeymoon you sly wolf.” I pulled back.

“Luka, no matter what happens, please promise me you’ll take care of the pack. Please promise me you won’t die from the heartache.”

“It’ll only hurt if you leave, but you promised that you won’t so what’s there to be scared about? You’re here now.”

“We’ll be here tomorrow.”

“And the days after that.”

This was the first time Bellamy was open to the idea of them leaving. She knows there’s little we can do and I want her to understand that it’s okay to be scared because I’ll be there to comfort her.

That was one thing I didn’t realize in the first place.

My first plan was to terminate the pregnancy and leave Bellamy alone in this mess when in fact I should be the one helping her up, I was the stronger one, yet she was the optimistic one. I promised myself to never betray my family like that again.

The next morning I accompanied her for her morning walk. She looked like she was going to loosen up. Every time she gets tired I’d have to carry her back. We took an hour back and forth.

When we got back I prepared her breakfast. I made her some tofu and beans as well as a healthy smoothie.

“You cook really well. I have been blessed.” She teased as she gulped down on her food.

“Don’t speak while eating. You’re not going to distract me and not finish your food again.” I coldly but playfully replied.

“It’s really good today.”

“I’ll cook for you every day. Now finish your food and drink your smoothie. The nurses will come to take you soon.”

“I love this. I’d only eat if you cook for me. Since I can’t really cook on my own.” She said.

“It’s okay. You’re good at other things.” I said and watched her caress her big belly.

“We haven’t thought of names yet.” She blurted out.

“Luka jr.!” I told her.

“No! I won’t let you see my child if that happens.” I chuckled and pressed my hands on her tummy.

“We’ll think of something soon.” I then cleaned up her plate, once I was finished I saw her caressing her bump lovingly, seeming like in deep thoughts.

“How about Comet?” She said. “Reagan Comet”

I found it a little weird at first but if that’s what she wanted.

“Do you like that name more than Luka Jr.?”

“Of course he does!” She rolled her eyes and we both smiled.

Reagan Comet does sound very catchy. Weird but catchy.

A few minutes after a nurse assisted her to do her checkup. Bellamy seems to be getting stronger. It was already afternoon when she entered our room. I was fixing the cradle for when our son comes. She said she wanted to pee but before we got to the bathroom.

“Luka! I think I’m in labor.” She said as she stood frozen in her spot. We were 7 months in and expected the baby to come sooner due to the situation.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes-Yes! Please!” She said holding onto my arms. I held her before she could fall on the floor. I sat her down on the bed and wheeled a wheelchair. I placed her there and called the nurses. They took her to the birthing room and soon Alli came with the facility’s OBGYN. Bellamy was screaming in pain.

“Don’t worry she’s having a contraction. Stay by her side and keep her calm.” The OBGYN said.

After a few hours in labor, the baby was finally coming. I held on to her hand as Bellamy then began pushing. Luckily they didn’t cut her up since the baby was fitted to be birth naturally. “I can’t do it anymore, Luka.”

I looked at the medical practitioners in the room and they seemed to be telling me to encourage her.

“Bellamy. You need to get our baby out. Don’t you want to hold him soon?” She nodded and gripped my palm harder as she began pushing. The baby was out but there was no crying. I watched them panic as they tried to put air into my baby’s lungs.

“Wher-where’s my baby?” She tiredly whispered.

I was panicking. Bellamy was extremely weak and the baby was pale and blue.

“Shhh. Everything will be alright.” I massaged her temples as I tried to stay calm. Bellamy was losing energy and her b***d pressure was dropping.
