Waited For The Luna -
Chapter 58
I busied myself with work and taking care of Comet. And with Eric gone for his honeymoon, I was mostly in charge of running the pack. Bellamy was still in her state. I’ve decided to put her to rest but I try to replace reasons to delay it.
Comet’s first birthday was nearing and as his sole parent, I was tasked to plan his birthday party. My little boy could walk and utter words now. Since he’s a werewolf, his development was faster than a human.
I was in my office calling out different suppliers and choosing the theme. Comet was in the care of my mom. Suddenly a faint knock on the door disrupted me.
“You look you need some help.” I heard the familiar voice.
“I need your brother home now!” I spat massaging my temples.
“Easy! You were generous enough to gift him a trip.” Ellie replied, making herself comfortable in the chair. “How about you give me that. And I’ll whip a party for the little Alpha. The theme can be outer space and we’ll have the packhouse decorated according to the theme.”
“You are a lifesaver!” I handed her my credit card and the list of suppliers. She only has a week to do this.
Ellie has been helping around in the packhouse and now that her brother is gone on a vacation, she was tasked to fill in most of his work. Some people still haven’t forgiven her including my mom. Every time she stops by to watch Comet, my mother would hurriedly take him away. Comet loves her and is crazy about her and I don’t see anything wrong with that. Ellie has turned a new leaf and for Eric, I know I have to trust her again.
Ellie was able to pull off an awesome party for Comet.
The entrance had a rocket-shaped arch with blue, silver, and purple balloons as well as star-shaped balloons. Once you enter, there were different game stalls for the kids that were according to the theme. There were also food stalls and carts. Comet went crazy for the cotton candy. The kids’ section had a slime-making activity and a mini astronaut training obstacle course. The ceiling was decorated with stars and different planets. The stage had Comet’s name on it and there was a big moon decoration.
Children of alpha’s from other packs came to celebrate Comet. Some tried to discuss territory deals with me but I told them this was not the time to discuss such matters. Even Collin and Olivia came to celebrate with their son Caleb.
“This is amazing. Comet is going crazy. Thank you, Ellie.” I thanked her. Comet was running towards us all excited. I caught him in my arms and carried him. “Got you little Comet. How about you say thank you to Ellie for planning this party for you.”
“Thank you, mama!” Comet screamed. It caught the attention of the other adults including my mom. Ellie’s eyes widened in embarrassment.
“You’re welcome, baby. I told you not to call me that out loud.” She said as she pinched Comet’s cheek.
“I love you, mama” Comet added. I looked at my son completely struck.
“She’s not your mama Comet. You can call her aunt Ellie. Now go run along with your cousin Caleb.” I didn’t want to offend Ellie, but no one can replace Bellamy. This party would’ve been perfect if she was here and she would’ve been the one in charge of the planning.
“I’m sorry. I think he misses his mom.” Ellie added.
“I know. But that doesn’t mean you can replace her.” I told her off sounding a little irked by the way Comet calls her ‘mama’. “I’m sorry… it’s just…”
“I understand alpha. We’re history after all.” She replied before taking her leave.
I watched as she walked towards the suppliers. Comet was having a blast, all the kids were enjoying the activities. I got to say I did spend a lot of amount on this day.
“I can see she’s still smitten by you.” My mother Rose said.
“We’ve been over a long time ago mom. She only helped me with this party, and I could say she did a great job.” I said as I looked at the other decorations.
“Bellamy would’ve done better. Comet loves her.” She spotted looking at Comet running towards Ellie, and Ellie twirling him around.
“She can’t be his mom. She’s not.” My mother was worried that I was going to rekindle my relationship with Ellie.
“I know she’s not. She can’t be Luna as well.” She then turned and went back to her friends. By this time Noah and Thomas came in with Abigail and their daughter Sally.
“This looks amazing Alpha.” Abigail greeted.
“Thank you. Comet’s over there playing. Hello little girl. Why don’t you play with your cousin.”
Sally was a shy little girl, but she quickly tugged her mother’s hand towards the kid activity section.
“I can see why you plan on putting my sister to rest. You found her replacement.” Noah angrily said.
“Don’t start!” I growled, “This is my son’s day. If you have little respect for your sister I suggest you keep your mouth shut before I lose my temper.” I used my alpha tone.
“Luka, calm down.” Thomas always trying to mediate. He patted Noah’s back and the latter left.
“It’s been a year Thomas. She’s been asleep for a year now.”
“I know. It’s painful every day but I want her to rest as well. Sometimes I think it may be my fault. I lost my wife and daughter once and named Bellamy after them. She might be going the same fate as them.” He wiped the tear building in his eyes. “I’m sorry.” He said before leaving me.
The guest swarmed in. The kids were all enjoying themselves. Macy and Trey’s children, Gregory, Marcus, and Audrey were here. Forrest and Lilly’s twins Sasha and Summer as well. The kids were tuned into the science show as the adults entertained themselves.
“Can’t believe we’re parents,” Trey said.
“Well believe it brother, you already have 3!” Forrest teased we all broke into laughter.
The day went on and ended with Comet throwing cake at all the kids. After a whole day of the party, he was exhausted and was snoring in his room.
Me and the boys had a few rounds of drinks before they went home with the kids. The house was now quiet. I finished a whole bottle of whiskey alone as I remembered the painful events of last year.
“You’re a mess.” Ellie then entered handing me back my credit card.
She then sat beside me and tried to carry me up.
