Waited For The Luna -
Chapter 60
I was running endlessly in a deep dark place. I was running out of breath but I knew if I stopped I’ll never see them again. In the dark, I saw lonely souls of people and wolves. A young woman same as my age then walked up to me. Her eyes seemed restless.
“Charlotte” She called. Ceasar was the only one who called me that.
“I’m sorry for leaving you, my child. But I didn’t have a choice. Your father was a monster. That night he placed all his anger in me. I fought so hard to be with you.” She was my mother and I didn’t even know her name.
“Who are you?”
“I was Sylvia. I was your mother. And I’m not anymore.”
She then walked back and wandered. I tried following her but when I run towards her a white wall barred me. I tried pounding and going over but I couldn’t.
“Please tell Eric that I forgive them.” I turn around and saw a young girl in her teenage years. She was tan and had curly hair. She must’ve been Maya.
“I will but please tell me. How do I get out of here?”
“Look for your wolf. She might help you.” She blankly said. I then started falling endlessly. As I was falling I grabbed on a wall. I went through it and I was now in a garden-like place. The sun radiated beautifully. There were flowers and crystals everywhere. A woman with a little girl smiled at me. They must be Isabella and Amy.
“Bellamy!” I turned to see the one calling.
It was my wolf Tala.
“We’re not supposed to be here.”
“It’s beautiful Tala.”
“It is. But this is not where we should be. You are not dead yet. You are in the in-between. A state of living and dying.”
“How do I come back.”
“Find the door that leads to your body. We can still come back. I can feel it.”
“How do I do that?”
“Follow your instincts, Bellamy.”
—-
I was then back in the dark. I could hear a man walking towards me.
“Are you tired?” I asked. “No, Luka. I’m not”
“It’s almost Comet’s birthday. He’s gonna want to have you by his side.” He added. He doesn’t seem to hear me. But I was shouting. “I’ll be there Comet I promise.”
“Can you do that? Can you wake up now? I know I decided to give you rest, but I couldn’t do it. I can’t let you go.”
“Don’t let go.”
—
I was then back to darkness and silence.
I heard Luka’s footsteps walking towards me. He was humming a lullaby. I could hear noises but I didn’t know what he was doing. He then left and shut the door. I tried calling but he couldn’t hear me.
After about half an hour. I heard a baby’s wailing.
I tried opening my eyes. I saw the light peeping through the curtains. But my lids were so heavy and I couldn’t move my body. I was numb all over.
“Comet,” I whispered. My voice sounded frail. “Comet!” I tried a little louder. He was staring at me as he stopped crying.
I couldn’t open my eyes. A tear escaped and run through my cheeks.
“Mommy!… wake mommy!” He said in his baby voice.
A few moments after a girl walked in cooing Comet.
“Mymy… wake uh” He cried.
“Shhh Comet. Daddy’s working. How about mama read you a book?”
Mama? Who is she? Why is my son calling her mama?
“Yes, mama.”
I then heard her reading a book to Comet. It was so painful. Is another woman taking care of my family? Did Luka replace a replacement?
I then heard the door open and the sound of heavy footsteps.
“Is he good?” He asked.
“Yes. He’s sound asleep.”
I heard him sigh. I couldn’t decipher what they were doing. But I could hear their movements.
“Have you signed the marriage license?”
“Yes, I did. It will be ready for Saturday.”
“Have you planned the funeral?”
He paused before answering. “Not yet.”
Marriage license? Funeral? Was he going to get married? Is he going to bury me?
I had so many questions. I wanted to move but I couldn’t. I could only eyes open before falling back again. I need to get up. Sometimes I could feel someone moving me around and washing me. Sometimes I’d hear Luka and Comet playing.
The woman would come in and play with them as well.
‘Wait for me, Luka. I’ll come back.’
I wanted to and I was getting impatient but I just couldn’t. I felt too tired not having an ounce of energy.
“Mommy!” Comet was yelling. “Mommy! Up! Up!” He continued.
I opened my eyes once more. “Comet,” I said in my hoarse voice.
“Mommy! Up!” He said clapping his tiny hands. “Mommy is up!”
“Luka!” I tried to say in a loud voice but my voice was too dry. My head was throbbing, I could feel sores on my body.
“Comet, Luka” I cried. Tears on my cheeks after a while it dried out. I guess I didn’t have enough water to cry. I closed my eyes trying to rest.
My boy was so cute. He has the cutest smile and the most adorable face. I wish I can hug him again.
“What is it now, Comet?” I hear Luka’s voice.
“Mommy is up.”
