Chapter 78
Calla was rather shy about it, her cheeks flushing red. She decided to ask, “Jasmine, who are Mercer’s other family members?”
In truth, she was very intrigued by Mercer’s family. His parents were notable figures and must’ve laid out many rules for him. Jasmine only dared to join Mercer at the dinner table when they weren’t at Garland Mansion.
When Calla had nothing to do, she’d think about whether he had siblings, and how they were doing. Jasmine asked in surprise, “Has Mr. Garland never told you?”
Calla paused for a second and hurriedly said, “You know, Mercer is unwilling to talk about his family.”
Jasmine nodded in agreement. “That’s because of his temper.”

Calla sighed in relief. It looked like hadn’t misjudged.
After a moment, Jasmine explained, “His grandparents have already passed. Only Mr. and Mrs. Garland Senior remain in the house. His sister, Olivia, is studying abroad, while Mr. Garland seldom returns. Thus, it’s quiet at the residence.”
Calla nodded. “Oh.”

It looked like his family situation was quite normal. That said, she found it funny how nosy she was being.
Although she and Mercer had registered their marriage, they weren’t a normal couple. Perhaps there was no need for her to deal with his family members.
After they finished lunch, Jasmine began tidying up. Calla wanted to help but Jasmine wouldn’t let her. She could only go to the living room. The second she sat down on the couch, she saw Mercer walk down the stairs.
When Mercer came downstairs, Calla’s gaze was fixed on him.
This was because he’d changed out of his regular black suit and put on a silver suit instead. blue shirt on the inside and a red tie was fastened around his neck.

Upon seeing his outfit, Calla couldn’t help but look down and grin. Worried that Mercer would catch her, she tried to force it back but barely managed.
His outfit was now a little too colorful, wasn’t it? Calla had bought those items for him two days ago in
the mall.
She intended for each piece to be paired with his black suits so that he wouldn’t look as stiff as he usually did in his black–and–white outfits. Who would’ve guessed that he’d put all of them on in one go? He looked like an old–fashioned villager who had ventured into the big city.
Mercer took a few steps forward and stood before Calla. He glared at her and asked, “What are you laughing at?”
When Calla realized that she hadn’t escaped a confrontation, she replied, “I just thought of something really funny.

Naturally, Mercer wasn’t so easily deluded. He looked at Calla indignantly for two seconds before saying, I can’t really get used to this. I’ll change back into my usual clothes.”
When Calla saw that he’d finally changed out of his crow–like clothes, she got up and pulled on his arm. You’ll get used to them if you wear them more often. Really, it looks much better than your usual all–black
outfit!”
It was the first time Mercer felt a little unconfident. He asked, “Is that true?”
Calla nodded confidently and said, “It is. It couldn’t be truer!”
Mercer looked down at himself before making a decision. “Alright, I’ll listen to you just this once.
Calla nodded as though her life depended on it, implying that listening to her advice would be the best choice he ever made. However, his current outfit was admittedly a little atrocious.
Before Mercer left, he whispered by Calla’s ear, “Tonight, move into the master bedroom. I don’t want Jasmine to spread rumors.”
“Oh?” Calla stared at Mercer in shock.
The corners of Mercer’s lips curved upward. He then grabbed his briefcase and left.
After Mercer left, Calla sat on the couch and laughed till her stomach hurt
